Shelley - Edinburgh tutor

Information About Shelley:

Personal Description:

I am a friendly, person-centred former teacher, having left teaching at the end of June 2008. I worked in graphic design before moving into teaching, and now divide my time between business analysis work and my practice and training as a psychotherapist.

Teaching Experience:

I worked as a fully qualified Physics teacher for 5 years.
I worked as a full time Physics teacher continuously after graduating with distinction from the University of Strathclyde (Jordanhill campus) PGCE teacher training course, first in Glasgow and then in Edinburgh.

In addition to professional teaching experience I have worked for several years as a tutor prior to, and concurrent with becoming a teacher and have continued to work as a tutor since leaving the profession.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a person-centred approach to tutoring.

Each individual has unique needs and abilities that must be taken into account when deciding how best to help them with their studies. I have experience of teaching a wide variety of students - from all levels of socio-economic background, highly varied aptitude levels and students with learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyscalculia etc). This experience allows me to adapt my teaching / tutoring style to the individual in order that they gain the most from the session.
