Personal Description:

I am 26 years old and have obtained a degree in Primary Education from Manchester Metropolitan University. I have a diverse range of interests from computing to both playing and watching rugby.

Teaching Experience:

I have completed a 4 year teaching degree at Manchester Metropolitan University which qualifies me to teach all subjects at Primary School level. Having spent a year teaching a mixed year 5 and 6 class in a small rural school I moved to Leeds to my current school. I spent my first two years teaching year 5 and now teach a mixed year 3 and 4 class. At university I specialised in maths and design and technology, however I have since secured a role as science coordinator and ICT coordinator in my current school. I have also established a successful link with an Indian Primary School as part of and International Partnership Scheme - I have a strong belief that children should be taught to appreciate and accept other cultures, nationalities, religions and traditions on the same level as their own. Prior to my degree I spent several months in Malaysia teaching English as a foreign language to Primary aged children.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a fairly relaxed attitude to tutoring as I find that children respond better when they feel more relaxed. For me tutoring should not feel like an extension of school in terms of structure and academic pressure (at least not at primary level), rather the children should be introduced to teaching methods that are more fun and relaxed but impractical within a school setting due to larger numbers of children.

Qualifications:

• BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS - achieved a 2:1
• A levels in Chemistry (A), Biology (C) and Maths (C)
• GCSEs in Maths (A), Science (Ax2), Child Development (A), Food Technology (A). French (B), Geography (B), History (B) and English (B+C)
