Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate of Leeds University and an ongoing postgraduate student at Exeter University. Having completed my GCSE'S/ A levels only a short while ago, I am eager to share knowledge/strategies on gaining high grades.

I am keen to stay in Education and I hope to go onto further study at a later stage.

I have a strong interest in the humanities, having studied British Politics, many different aspects of history, Critical theory from a Post Modernist and Analytical/Enlightenment perspective as well as other important philosophical and sociological phenomena. I feel like I can be of real value to any aspiring student in the humanities.

Education is an important part of life, possibly the most crucial component, I will derive great satisfaction from helping people to succeed in their chosen fields and areas. I am sure that through hard work, understanding and clear planning, I can move students towards achieving their desired grade.

I look forward to hearing from potential tutees.

Alex

Teaching Experience:

I have been working in Education professionally for the last 6 or 7 months, predominately as a teaching assistant but also helping struggling students.

During my time, at University I was involved with a charity, which organised English lessons to refugees, this has provided me with a foundation , for further work in Education.

At the moment I am also working towards a Masters and I hope to have this completed before the end of the year. This is enabling me to develop a theoretical approach to Educational issues and allowing to enhance my teaching methodology.

I can provide academic and Educational references upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

I hoping to adopt a flexible, open approach whereby I can be responsive to the needs and requirements of individual students. I am happy to tailor the lessons on a case by case basis.

I am very aware of the stress and anxiety that exams, coursework can cause, I am happy to work closely with students to alleviate any concerns they may have in periods which conflate with any of the above.

Personal Description:
I am 53 years of age, married with 3 children.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Secondary Science School teacher and have 9 years experience as a private tutor

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that one to one tuition can greatly increase both a students confidence and knowledge in a subject. I try to create an informal and relaxing atmosphere by getting to know the student. I have an extensive knowledge of all the syllabuses. I use very effective methods to enable the student to grasp any difficult concepts and eventually concentrate on exam questions and technique. I help the student to take responsibility for their own learning and understand the best methods for learning (such as use of mind maps). The great majority of my students have achieved exam results which have far exceeded their expectations.

Personal Description:
My name is Teresa and I am a trainee Educational Psychologist currently studying for a Doctorate in Child, Community and Educational Psychology. I hold a BSc degree in Clinical Psychology and a PGCE teaching qualification specialising in Primary Languages. I also hold MSc Credits in Science. I have experience teaching in mainstream and special educational needs schools with primary school aged children and have worked in Secondary Education settings. I hold a current CRB check.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently a qualified teacher with experience in Early years up to year 6. I have experience tutoring Key Stage 3 students outside of school and University students. I also have a lot of experience with special educational needs. I currently work/study as an Educational Psychologist so have regular contact with children, adolescents and young adults.

Tutoring Approach:

My first step will be to find out exactly what a tutee wants to get from the tutoring and how they best learn. Then we can collaboratively make a timetable and plan that suits both of us. My tutoring style is difficult to describe as it will vary from individual to individual. I always try to make use of resources which support the learning style and will incorporate the child's interests into my lesson plans. I feel that it is important to be flexible and will ask the tutee if there is anything they want me to do differently.

Personal Description:
I'm afraid that I currently have no spaces available for tutoring at the moment, sorry!

I am currently studying towards my Mathematics PGCe having graduated with a 2:1 in Mathematics with Mathematics Education degree and have been tutoring for a several years.
I am patient, always willing to adapt to the pupil's needs and have a calm and easy going manner. All of my previous students have commented on my friendly and patient approach and my willingness to adapt any material to that which suits the student best.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored several students during my first years of studying Aerospace Engineering, and am now studying in order to train to be a Mathematics Teacher in the next year.
I have worked in high schools as a Learning Support Assistant which has given me a lot of experience working with students who have learning difficulties, and the experience has also allowed me to refine a broad range of teaching methods. I have found that as every student is different, no two ever learn the same way. My aim is find out how the student learns and then boost their performance whether it is passing a class test or getting an A* at A-Level.

I am happy to pass on recommendations from previous tutees if required.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to encourage students to learn from basic principles and find that my students respond best from practical experience and learning how the difficult subjects such as Maths and Physics can have real world applications.
I tutor predominantly Mathematics and Physics at a secondary level (ages 11-18), and specialise in Maths at GCSE and A-Level. I find the key to tutoring effectively is to put abstract concepts into real life applications and scenarios that the student is familiar with.

Personal Description:
I'm a wife and mother of two daughters and I work in education. I can't say what age group I prefer working with as I just love the process of facilitating the learning of others and seeing them 'get it' - the light bulb moment! I've been there myself and it's great to see others have the same experience.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in schools for the past 11 years in a number of roles. I am a trained Primary teacher with a specialism in Spanish. I worked for a year as a supply teacher with classes from Year 1 to Year 6. In secondary schools I have provided a wide and varied support role for English and Modern Foreign Language faculties. I worked for a year as a Cover Supervisor and currently I work in a successful girls' secondary school as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. I support students across the whole curriculum. As well as a classroom based role, I assist the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator at the school and so I have a special interest working with young people with special educational needs and also children with English as an additional language. I am confident in supporting learners from Key Stage 1 through to GCSE in most subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to vary my approach to tutoring depending upon the needs of the tutee and their preferred learning style. I feel it is important that the learner has the opportunity to take ownership of the learning experience, though some need more guidance than others. I like to encourage learners so that they realise that they are capable of so much more than they originally thought possible. I mentor GCSE students at my school and find that young people in particular may have problems self-esteem and this hinders their learning, particularly in a group setting. Working one to one gives students that little bit of breathing space they need to work through their problems without having to feel self-conscious - then they can feel more confident and flourish when they go back into the classroom.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified secondary school teacher and mother of 4 children living in Caldicot. I am able to teach both Physics and Mathematics up to GCSE and A Level Physics.

Teaching Experience:

I began teaching in 2001, qualified as a Science teacher who specialises in Physics. I have been successful in raising standards of attainment in both the key stage 3 and GCSE classes I have taught. As a tutor, I have successfully supported many pupils, with all previous tutees having achieved their expected grade or better, for both Science and Mathematics disciplines. I have also tutored primary school pupils and an adult returning to GCSE studies.
I have experience of teaching most specifications including AQA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC Maths and Science.

I have several years experience being contracted to mark exam papers for a major examination board and was later promoted to team leader, overseeing the exam marking for a number of examiners. This has provided me with a high level of expertise of the examination system and the demands of candidates, something that I am able to use effectively as a tutor. I have gained a great deal of experience of teaching pupils with SEN.

Tutoring Approach:

I set realistic targets for the students I tutor and am wholly committed to their success. I provide all resources including worksheets, text books, exercise books. I have an excellent relationship with students and have been asked to continue tutoring on to A Level for some students. I look to identify students weaknesses and focus on developing those areas, along with coaching on how to perform well in examinations.

Lessons take place at my home Monday to Thursday from 6pm. Weekend lessons available (please contact for availability and prices).
I am able to travel to the students home (Caldicot and surrounding areas). Additional charges apply for travel expenses.

Personal Description:
Every morning I say to myself ''Meneat viator'' which means ''remain a traveler''. I have chosen this headline not just because I like the way it sounds but also because this is the way I see life. I love traveling, taking photos, playing my guitar, dancing flamenco! I love discovering new forms of expression through art and I challenge myself all the time.

My name is Alexandra and I was born in Greece, in a small town by the sea. From a very early age, I was taught how to play the violin and how to understand the magic of music!!! Later, I left my hometown to go to a bigger city where I studied Greek philology while working in order to support my studies. As a student I explored many types of artistic expression such as dancing, playing the guitar, singing with a band, taking photos with the team of photography from the University.

After having graduated, I worked as a secretary and then as a teacher. Meantime, I was taking part as a volunteer in many athletic and cultural events

Currently, I am doing my MA in Comparative Literature. I have always been interested in authors from many different countries and every little thing I learn is extremely amazing!!! Obviously, I both like reading and learning new languages that is why I chose to do my MA in both England and Paris. While studying, I am also writing articles and little, humble poems for an art group.

What is next? I have no idea. But ''life knows better and I trust her'' (from a song in Spanish).

Teaching Experience:

Teaching is not something new to me. Actually, during my time as an undergraduate student, I had part-time and vacation jobs, all of which have required me to work as part of a team and to deal directly with children and young people. I found my work at summer camps particularly valuable in teaching me the importance of ascertaining needs and providing clear and accurate solution in response to those needs. I would also like to mention that I am a person aware of sensitive matters, particularly when these matters concern children. For instance, I have completed with success the Braille courses as well as the Sign Language because of my belief in equal opportunities for all children. Furthermore, last summer me and my sister both worked in a summer camp in Greece with children with special needs.
Additionally, for more than one year I was teaching Greek to refugees as a volunteer and the experience really struck me. These people were coming from many different cultural and religious backgrounds and in the beginning they seemed to be indifferent and distant. However, I soon realized that it was because they have experienced so much discrimination that they were not able to express themselves openly. To make the course happen, I explained that above all we are all here to try for a common goal and nobody is going to be judged. Then I asked from these people to interact with each other, exchange their opinions about a certain point, even talk about their lives when they wanted. Little by little, as soon as trust and mutual respect had been developed between them, they changed into a group of individuals, willing to learn and explore the Greek Language in depth. Yet, this experience taught me that all human beings should be given equal opportunities to education and therefore to self-development.

Tutoring Approach:

I know that one should be really responsible when dealing with students. Imagination, creative ideas, patience and enthusiasm as well as love and passion for teaching and organizing activities are some of the most important characteristics of my personality required for this work. In addition, I believe that I am appropriate for this job not only because of my experience but also because of my genuine interest in offering, supporting, and giving opportunities for learning and self development.

Teaching Experience:

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have always found teaching rewarding. However, my passion began from the normal everyday routine teaching on the wards when I was liaising with colleagues, students and informing patients as to their condition and the process forward. Being a dyslexic, I found it easy to discuss core concepts of (medicine, biology, etc,) debate and to visualize them rather than the traditional sense of readings lots of chapters across a number of books.

Following on from this experience, I began teaching a number of students privately at University ranging from their coursework, to subject matters and then to examination preparation. In the process of teaching, I enjoy developing a rapport with a small number of students and watching their understanding of the core concepts grow, but also the result the students achieved from their institutions.

Taught students from a diverse range of backgrounds, abilities and levels.

1) Biology
2) Medicine
3) Anatomy

Approach of tutoring with students and their disabilities:
Being a dyslexic learner myself, I understand your pain, frustration and have a lot of experience to streamline your learning process. So don't be afraid to discuss learning difficulties with me. Its not a question of ability, understanding or context, rather the format in which it is delivered. In my experience, students with disabilities make fantastic professionals. Previous experience working with disabled students; dyslexia, dysgraphia and ADHD.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY
I have delivered a variety of formats in the past and below are my past approaches and I am happy to tailor the tutoring to the style that suits you best. In the past, students have preferred subject knowledge to be delivered in a simple method, step wise, structured milestones.
