Personal Description:
¡Hola! My name is Carla. I am a 19 years-old student from Barcelona. I am currently living in the UK and I would very much enjoy to teach you my language. Due to my education in Spain, I hold a high native Spanish level and I have passed national Spanish language exams as well as Spanish literature.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Spanis to young foreigner students and english to Spanish high-school students.
I have enjoyed teaching Young people and I have been able to adapt the language to their level but it would be as exciting for me to teach older students and adults. I am a pacient person with good teaching skills which I have been developing and improving with my teaching experiences.

Tutoring Approach:

When learning a language, every subject is important: grammar, speaking, listening, vocabulary, etc. However there are so many different ways to learn all that. In my opinion, it is possible to learn the theory through the practice and that is exactly what I try to do with my students. When we first learn our mother language, we do not learn all the ortographic and grammar rules, we first learn how to speak and we understand how it Works from that.
All the lessons, however, will be adapted to the students level and needs.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate of Leeds University and an ongoing postgraduate student at Exeter University. Having completed my GCSE'S/ A levels only a short while ago, I am eager to share knowledge/strategies on gaining high grades.

I am keen to stay in Education and I hope to go onto further study at a later stage.

I have a strong interest in the humanities, having studied British Politics, many different aspects of history, Critical theory from a Post Modernist and Analytical/Enlightenment perspective as well as other important philosophical and sociological phenomena. I feel like I can be of real value to any aspiring student in the humanities.

Education is an important part of life, possibly the most crucial component, I will derive great satisfaction from helping people to succeed in their chosen fields and areas. I am sure that through hard work, understanding and clear planning, I can move students towards achieving their desired grade.

I look forward to hearing from potential tutees.

Alex

Teaching Experience:

I have been working in Education professionally for the last 6 or 7 months, predominately as a teaching assistant but also helping struggling students.

During my time, at University I was involved with a charity, which organised English lessons to refugees, this has provided me with a foundation , for further work in Education.

At the moment I am also working towards a Masters and I hope to have this completed before the end of the year. This is enabling me to develop a theoretical approach to Educational issues and allowing to enhance my teaching methodology.

I can provide academic and Educational references upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

I hoping to adopt a flexible, open approach whereby I can be responsive to the needs and requirements of individual students. I am happy to tailor the lessons on a case by case basis.

I am very aware of the stress and anxiety that exams, coursework can cause, I am happy to work closely with students to alleviate any concerns they may have in periods which conflate with any of the above.

Personal Description:
I am a patient, friendly and enthusiastic tutor. I come from an academic background (Molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics) rather than teaching and as such, have a thorough and extensive knowledge of the subjects I tutor in. I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm with others and I'm also good at explaining some of the more complex elements of biology. I am also registered as a STEM ambassador and visit local schools to share my passion for Biology and Science.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy cooking, swimming, playing tennis, walking and watching Hull City!

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored >20 students, mainly in biology at A-level/Highers, but also separate sciences and general science at GCSE level. My students have achieved excellent results; with most improving by at least two grades. Recent successes include an AS student moving from grade E up to a A and an A2 student moving up from an unclassified (U) grade up to a B. I am more than happy to take on students of all abilities. I have also taught at University level (2nd year biochemistry) and have mentored undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have some experience tutoring students with mild specific learning difficulties (ADHD, Asperger's).

Tutoring Approach:

My approach varies depending on the student as all have different needs and learning styles. For GCSE/A-level tuition, I usually concentrate on exam practice, with in-depth topic study for the more problematic subjects. I also use multimedia aids to help students visualise biological/chemical processes where appropriate and I have created powerpoint files covering almost all AS and A2 Biology topics.

I am very passionate about travelling and find that my love for languages enables me to get the most out of my trips. I see languages as a key to unlocking different cultures and experiences that I may have may otherwise have missed out on.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught students aged between 12 and 80 from over 50 countries around the world. I have taught many different levels of German from ABC courses for students who could not read or write, up to advanced business courses.

Personal Description:
My name is Michael and my students usually call me Mickey. I am a qualified Maths and Mandarin teacher.I have finished my master degree from University of Southampton with distinction, PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Mathematics)) from King's College London and I also finished my undergraduate study with first class degree from University of Southampton as well. I was working as trader assistant ( yellow jacket ) in a top bank before changing to become a maths teacher. I have over six years experience in primary, entrance exam, GCSE and A-Level maths tutoring. I am always passionate for tutoring and I know how to make students' learning process enjoyable. My strong reputation has been built on my ability to improve my students' varying skills, ability and exam skills. I have unrivaled patience and understanding and I am able to bring the best maths tutoring experience to my students. I also have set up my own website with helpful maths resources for my students.

In 2011, I attended 3rd Mandarin Teacher Training which was held by Chinese government in London and I have also gained Qualified Mandarin Teaching Certification which was awarded and admitted by both Chinese and British government. (Original Copy on request). I am also a member of British Mathematical Association (BMA), London Mathematical Society (LMS), Association of Teachers of Mathematics (ATM) and British Society for Research into Learning Mathematics (BSRLM).

Teaching Experience:

Currently I am working as a Maths and Mandarin teacher in a college. I am also working with many Tutoring Agencies as five star rated tutor like Top Tutors,Galaxies Learning and Delta Tutors. Unlike other tutors, I only teach limited number of students to ensure quality. My A-Level students successfully entered top universities like LSE, Warwick University, Imperial College and other elite Russell Group universities. Other students successfully got through entrance examination to top independent schools like City of London School, North London Collegiate School, Channing School and Merchant Taylors' School.

Education:

King's College London
Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Mathematics) (PGCE)

University of Southampton
MSc. in Accounting and Finance (Distinction)

University of Southampton
BSc. in Accounting and Finance (First Class)

Tutoring Approach:

Quality is everything for me. Apart from the highest teaching quality I am pursuing, my rate is also competitive as I was a student, I know how important it is to have someone to help at reasonable price. However, the normal rate is usually high. For me, I only charge reasonable price.

Recent International Student Assessment (ISA) shows that Chinese students ranked best in the world at maths ( UK is ranked 28th for maths, Source: google "Shanghai students ranked best in the world at maths and science", The Telegraph). As British Chinese, I can tell you the secret of Chinese learning maths. I have a unique method of tutoring which can be adapted whatever the skill level and also unique exam techniques. But my first objective is to target my students' enthusiasm for the subject so they will be passionate to learn mathematics. Practice is also essential for learning maths, but a good tutor knows how to design different questions for effective practice. Finally,I usually believe that learning is a continuing process and if I am honored to be your tutor, I can not only help you learn the knowledge, but also master the art of learning until one day, you will be able to help others like I do.

Personal Description:
I am 35 years old and am a passionate teacher from Salzburg in Austria. As my mother is Irish I grew up in a bilingual environment and thus offer lessons in German as well as English.
I have a Masters degree from Innsbruck University in the subjects English (as a foreign language), Psychology, Philosophy and Ethics.
Apart from being a teacher, I am currently doing a postgraduate degree in Psychotherapy. I am qualified, working towards accreditation, which is also the reason why I have come to live in the UK.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a teacher in a comprehensive school (with focus on languages) in Austria for the past 8 years. Apart from teaching there (age group: 10 to 18 years old) I have a lot of experience in private tutoring.
I spent a year in America (Hollins University, Roanoke, VA) as a German teaching assistant where I taught German classes to beginners and advanced students of German.

Tutoring Approach:

I love my job and I love working with children as well as young adults and adults. In my eyes being a teacher is a very fulfilling job as you get so much back from the kids/youngsters/learners. It is not just the subject that is taught - as a tutor you also have a certain influence on the kids'/youngsters'/learners' attitude towards achieving goals in life.
Kids love to learn and want to be challenged and everything should be done to max out the learners' abilities and resources. I would consider my approach as a passionate and very engaging one. I try to find ways of making learning and studying a fun thing to do.
Being a psychotherapist helps me in my - when necessary - sensitive approach to children/youngsters who might have a learning difficulty or other issues.

Personal Description:
I am a 27 year old History graduate and PGCE holder, living in the Morecambe area. I value highly the benefit of one to one tuition, and excel in recognising a child's area of difficulty and formulating strategies to remedy it. I am a enthusiastic connoisseur of history and a competent mathematician, with good patience and sense of humour.

Teaching Experience:

In 2011 I was awarded with the PGCE certificate after a years training. Subsequently i have privately tutored several children, primarily focusing on their year 6 Maths SATS and preparing them for the transition to secondary school.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to make tutoring as fun and stimulating as possible, as after a long day at school, the last thing a child wants is to be faced by another worksheet. Application of lessons to everyday life and environment is a special area of focus for me, as i find when children can relate to the subject being taught, they demonstrate a faster rate of understanding and progress.

Personal Description:
My Name is Maddy, I am 19 years old and have recently taken A levels in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Biology at Bedales School. I have a place to study medicine at Cambridge in October 2014. I am able to tutor Chemistry and Biology to A level and Maths and Physics to GCSE level. I am also able to help students applying to study medicine with interview preparation, and preparation for the UKCAT and BMAT exams. I am also able to help with Oxbridge interview preparation for students applying to study medicine, medical sciences, natural sciences, biology or other similar courses.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working as a full time tutor giving one to one tuition in biology, chemistry, physics and maths. At school I spent a lot of time helping other students who were struggling with their studies. Other students at school often asked me for help with their academic work because i am good at explaining complicated concepts in a way thats easier to understand. I am always very patient and have very good problem solving skills. I spent an hour a week for 6 months volunteering at a local primary school teaching the children to read and use computers. I have now been working as a full time tutor for sever months.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very good at explaining difficult concepts in a way that is simpler and easier to understand. I am also calm and patient with students who find it hard to understand a subject. I usually work through topics areas or questions that the student is finding particularly difficult or we can go through past papers or work on exam technique. I think that all students learn in different ways and so I try to tailor the sessions to the individual student.

Personal Description:
I am a native French speaker. I am friendly, approachable, patient and non-judgmental. I am passionate about French and English literature. I speak and write a good standard of English and French. I have successfully completed the course PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) (Level 4) at Strode College, Somerset. This is really useful in my role as a tutor.
I studied Philosophy and French literature up to the Baccalauréat in Brittany. I graduated in Brest University where I passed a degree (Deug) in English and American literature, English Grammar, linguistics, Phonetics, translation from English into French and vice-versa. The degree also included American and English History. I have the level of Licence in the same fields as above. I have an up-to-date DBS certificate ( May 2013).

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor for over two years now and enjoy this very much. I help teenagers improve their grades for GCSE French and successfully prepare for A levels. My experience involves working with adult and teenage students. Sessions are tailored to the specific needs of students such as someone needing to speak French for work. In the school year 2014, I have helped students prepare for their GCSE. This involves explaining from scratch the main points of grammar and guiding their pronunciation so students can perform better for oral and listening exams. At the moment, June 2014, I am helping a student study the novel Madame Bovary more in depth. This is in preparation for the entry to University. This involves weekly sessions where I prepare questions in French for my student. I expect the student to prepare answers in French. We discuss in French the style of the novelist, the main themes, the protagonists, the plot etc. I spend time carefully preparing sessions with the view of increasing the fluency of students. In the course of the school year 2012-2013 I taught English (via skype) to one of my nieces and she achieved good grades in English for her Baccalaureat. At the same time, I also helped an A level student to study Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert. I chose excerpts from the novel and prepared questions for the student. When we met, in addition to going through the prepared questions and analysis, I focused on the pronunciation, grammar and spelling plus vocabulary. I truly enjoy seeing my students improve their confidence in spoken and written French. I can help adults brush on their French or learn the language from a beginner's level up to an advanced level.
One of my students from Wales, Anne wrote: I would highly recommend Annie as a tutor to anyone learning French. She really knows her stuff - not just as a native French speaker but as a teacher who is tuned in to where a learner has problems and knowledge gaps. She is very helpful in supplying the information that you don't get in the textbooks and in providing insights into both written and spoken French. Add to that friendliness and a sense of humour and you have everything you could ask for in an expert language tutor.
Rosie from Wells, Somerset: 'Annie is a very good French teacher, she is kind, smart, patient. My French has improved just after a few lessons and I really look forward to our next session together'.
The following is a comment by another student,Neil:' Our conversational French sessions are focused but flexible. Either of us can suggest a topic to talk about and we have covered a wide range of subjects. Annie writes a lot of useful notes as we go along. I take these away and regularly refer to them, they are great for revision. I like the fact that Annie can tell me what the French would really say as opposed to what it says in the dictionary. Importantly, we enjoy a laugh'.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to discuss with my students to know exactly what the students want to get from the lessons. I keep in mind that each student has different goals and motives to learn the language. I draw a learning plan to guide the students and myself. My tutoring sessions are tailor-made as students are different with different learning styles. I think it is important that students make progress and for this I think it is also important that the atmosphere be pleasant so I do like it when my students are enjoying their learning and progressing.

I like to focus on the pronunciation so students can be understood properly by French native speakers. It does make things easier for students when they travel to France or if they want to work there, for instance. I focus on the pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and spelling. I truly enjoy seeing my students improve their confidence in spoken and written French, I also provide tips regarding modern spoken French. While tutoring to beginners, I find that it is important to offer to students a good grasp of grammar as this enables students to start constructing little useful sentences on their own. I correct students on their pronunciation to give them a good start. I am aware that everyone is different and consequently I tend to teach according to the needs of each student. I have an up-to-date DBS certificate ( May 2013).

Personal Description:
Since graduating from uni, I have been working as a freelance writer. Most of my work has been for a cruise ship website which is due to launch next year. For the website I have written a wealth of information about cruise lines, cruise ships and the destinations they visit. I have also done a bit of article writing for a few other websites.

My ultimate ambition is to be a novelist, though this requires a lot of time and a lot of luck! Until the novel writing kicks off, I hope to continue being a freelance writer.

I never really thought of being a tutor, but it struck me that I'm not actually doing anything with my degree, so it's about time I should! Plus, it would get me out of the house, which is always a bonus.

Teaching Experience:

I haven't any teaching experience as of yet, however everyone has to start somewhere! I am fully confident that I have all the necessary skills, and the educational experience, to be a tutor, I just haven't had the opportunity to show them yet! I am keen to get started and gain some experience as a tutor so please do take a chance on me and we can learn together.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach would be informal and friendly. I would work together with the tutee to identify key areas s/he is struggling in and overcome those areas through the use of exercises and creative, engaging activities. I would be organised and methodical, yet relaxed and flexible as per the needs of the tutee.
