| Personal Description: I am a recent graduate of Leeds University and an ongoing postgraduate student at Exeter University. Having completed my GCSE'S/ A levels only a short while ago, I am eager to share knowledge/strategies on gaining high grades. I am keen to stay in Education and I hope to go onto further study at a later stage. I have a strong interest in the humanities, having studied British Politics, many different aspects of history, Critical theory from a Post Modernist and Analytical/Enlightenment perspective as well as other important philosophical and sociological phenomena. I feel like I can be of real value to any aspiring student in the humanities. Education is an important part of life, possibly the most crucial component, I will derive great satisfaction from helping people to succeed in their chosen fields and areas. I am sure that through hard work, understanding and clear planning, I can move students towards achieving their desired grade. I look forward to hearing from potential tutees. Alex |
Teaching Experience: I have been working in Education professionally for the last 6 or 7 months, predominately as a teaching assistant but also helping struggling students. During my time, at University I was involved with a charity, which organised English lessons to refugees, this has provided me with a foundation , for further work in Education. At the moment I am also working towards a Masters and I hope to have this completed before the end of the year. This is enabling me to develop a theoretical approach to Educational issues and allowing to enhance my teaching methodology. I can provide academic and Educational references upon request. |
Tutoring Approach: I hoping to adopt a flexible, open approach whereby I can be responsive to the needs and requirements of individual students. I am happy to tailor the lessons on a case by case basis. I am very aware of the stress and anxiety that exams, coursework can cause, I am happy to work closely with students to alleviate any concerns they may have in periods which conflate with any of the above. |

| Personal Description: I am passionate about working with young people and helping them to achieve their potential. I currently work as a Psychology, Maths and English tutor as well as working in career advice and life coaching for teenagers and young adults. My biggest tutoring achievement this year was a student who started with me having failed her mock Psych A level and after 3 months of weekly tuition she passed, not only with top grades but without dropping a single mark in her exam! Very proud of her! |
Teaching Experience: I have worked as a Maths and English tutor to Key Stage 3 level for 3 and a half years and have been a Psychology tutor to degree level for 2 and a half years. I have a Masters in Occupational Psychology and have also mentored students through dissertations and research projects. I work with young people daily having started my own business working with students to help them to be more proactive in their approach to studies and work experience. Last academic year I was doing between 20 and 25 hours a week of tuition whilst based in London. I have now moved and am building up a new client base. I also run a summer activity camp in the holidays for children aged 5-16 so have experience of working with children in a variety of settings. |
Tutoring Approach: I am a very personable person and believe in adapting my style of teaching to each individual. I am full of energy and strive to inspire and increase enthusiasm in my students - I find that my desire to learn is infectious and it isn't long before students have gained confidence and positivity towards their subject. |

| Personal Description: I recently graduated from Oxford University, with a masters (Meng) in engineering science. I took my A levels in 2007 in Physics, Maths, Further maths and Economics, achieving grade A in all. I am very familiar with the sort of study patterns and techniques that are required by students in their preperation for these exams. I am friendly, helpful and very patient when it comes to teaching on a one to one basis. |
Teaching Experience: I was involved with the mentoring scheme that my college offered. This involved me having to meet with individual students in order to help and advise them with their school work. This experience helped me become more aware of the different methods and approaches needed for individual students. I also have two younger brothers studying for their GCSE's/A-levels who I regularly help out with their academic work. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach is to break down the topic into small managable chunks and to take the student step by step through the material. I am focused with teaching the student key exam techniques and vital steps that are needed in preperation for them. I am focused with covering material in a thorough but efficient way, as well as making use of exam past papers which hold the key to breaking down nervousness and exam fright. |

| Personal Description: In 2005, I graduated from The University of Reading with an upper second class degree in English and History of Art: my modules included 10 Shakespeare plays, Renaissance Women's Writing, Modern Drama, and my dissertation was based on the myth of Pygmalion in Literature and Art. I completed my teaching qualification in 2008 and am now qualified to teach English to secondary aged students. I love reading Shakespeare plays and my lifetime ambition is to read all his works. I also enjoy going to the theatre, playing tennis and regularly write poems and prose in my blog, so I can pass this enthusiasm for reading and writing onto students. |
Teaching Experience: I specialise in teaching 3-16 year olds English reading, writing and conversation. Preschool - I am currently teaching a 3 year old boy and a 3 year girl the first stages of reading and writing. Year 1- I teach reading, writing and conversation to a 5 year old boy. Year 2 - I am preparing a 7 year old boy for his key stage 1 exams. Year 6 - I prepared an 11 year old boy for this Key Stage 2 exams, by studying past papers and teaching him successful exam techniques. Year 7 - 2 mixed ability classes, where I taught the poem 'Boewulf' and the play, 'Smith'. I also taught a creative writing module. 12 year old student - I prepared this tutee for her 12+ grammar school exam. This student was consequently offered a place at the grammar school of her choice. Year 8 - 2 top set classes, where I taught advertising, Shakespeare and poetry modules. Year 9 - 1 lower set and 1 top set class, where I prepared students for the Shakespeare, Reading and Writing SATs papers. Year 10 - 1 middle set group - 'Romeo and Juliet' GCSE coursework. Two adult ESOL tutees - I taught them English grammar and conversation. |
Tutoring Approach: I am a patient tutor, who has high expectations and always gets the best out of her pupils, so they progress to achieve their full potential. I love talking about language and Shakespeare, and this passion for English is evident in my tutoring lessons. Similarly, I am fascinated by history and historical events and this interest comes across in my teaching. Overall, I am an enthusiastic, gentle and caring tutor, who helps students become confident about the subject they are studying. I am also ambitious for my students and push them to tackle challenging tasks to become more intelligent individuals. I tutor adults and children, so I am flexible in my approach and easy to talk to. |

| Personal Description: Hello, I'm Laura, I'm 19 and I'm currently studying for a degree in BSc Chemistry. I feel I am an enthusiastic and self-motivated person and I like to think that I push myself to the best of my abilities, I hope that I would be able to encourage others to do so. Many people also say that I'm very patient, I think that this will help a lot when people need extra help. In secondary school being part of a big class means that it was hard to get attention from the teacher, therefore I know what it can be like to be in a class where everyone has different learning styles and would like to think that I can help with this. I feel a tutor can make studying much easier, simply because a tutor can work with the tutee on a one to one basis and find the learning style best for them. |
Teaching Experience: I have helped out at a Primary School local to my Sixth Form where I worked with Year 4 pupils. I worked with pupils of all abilities in various subjects. I feel this helped me to fully understand how each student takes on learning and how to approach helping them. Also in my Secondary School I was a reading mentor. I had to listen to Year 7 pupils reading, although this only took place once a week I found it rewarding and it helped to build up their confidence as well as their reading abilities. |
Tutoring Approach: I am a patient and I like to try and encourage people to push themselves. I would like to think that I have a good approach towards tutoring in that I would challenge students so that they can progress as much as possible without making them feel as if its a chore. I think its most important that the students want to learn because they know it will benefit them in the long term. |

| Personal Description: I am London-based, with experience in tutoring English Language and Literature to secondary students from the ages of 13 to 16. I am particularly focused on years 10 to 11 and the Language/Literature GCSEs. I am familiar with the AQA and OCR exam boards, and I understand the stresses facing many students at this point in their academic life. |
Teaching Experience: To date, I have been tutoring part-time, however I would now like to move into it on a fuller basis. I also have experience of teaching English to people for whom it is not a first language, and I can draw on this where some GSCE students may not always have lived in the UK. |
Tutoring Approach: I am extremely patient and understanding of the pressures facing many young people at this point in their academic life. However I will also work to ensure that they challenge themselves to get the very best results, to an aim to building knowledge of English as subject and self-confidence in their ability to tackle and enjoy it. |

| Personal Description: I am a family man, married 10 years to my wife Mel, with 3 beautiful daughters. I have been tutoring in the South Wales area since 1992 after graduating in Chemical Engineering with 2nd (Hons) Degree from University of Glamorgan. My hobbies include wordwide travel, Triathlon, Motorcycles/Cars and anything to do with science and maths. |
Teaching Experience: After graduating in Summer 1992 with an Honours Degree in Chemical & Process Engineering from the University of Glamorgan, I set up my tutoring business to assist parents & pupils with examination preparation, who felt they were being let down by the educational system. I worked as an examiner for the WJEC from 1997 to 2002 marking Maths papers. I currently teach on a 1-2-1 basis or in small groups, usually {but not exclusively} in the privacy of the pupils home, in the following subjects:- * Key stages 1 to 4 {GCSE} in Mathematics, English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering, Design and Technology, Electronics. * 'A' Levels {GCE} in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics * BTEC Engineering, Nursing & Health Care courses, Paramedics, Sports Science. * Degrees in Engineering - Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Aerospace, and Nursing. * UKCAT Entrance exams to Medicine and Dental school. |
Tutoring Approach: I thoroughly prepare students for examinations using past paper practise to build up their self confidence and develop the ability to read and digest each exam question. During the interim term time, I conduct 'student led' lessons, where each of my pupils is able to tell me what they want to learn; whether it be new material, homework assistance or revision of old topics. I structure my lessons this way because I teach many different students of varying abilities, who are studying at different levels and using different exam boards e.g. WJEC, OCR, AQA, EDEXCEL. |

| Personal Description: My name is Iona, I'm currently studying my HND in Acting and Theatre Performance at Edinburgh's Telford college and hope to do my BA Hons degree next year. I've studied Theatre, Philosophy, Music, English, German and Spanish, and this year I am also touching on dance and vocal skills. |
Teaching Experience: I've done a JCSLA course whereupon I learnt how to teach and work with young people in a learning environment. My placement involved me doing an hour a week of teaching dance in a local primary school, where I learned how to interact with the children and work with them to incorporate their ideas and get the best results we could. In my HNC course last year I had classes in how to run a drama workshop, and I've experienced hands on many youth theatre workshops and had lots of practice in drama games and exercises. Last year I also tutored a student through Higher (AS Level) Philosophy. |
Tutoring Approach: I'm a very friendly girl and I like to make the learning environment as relaxed as possible, as I think this produces the best ideas. I'm quite interactive and hands on, and I like to use a lot of the student's own ideas and develop these, rather than spoon-feeding them, as I think in creative subjects, students flourish more with their own originality than with forced direction. I don't set a lot of home-study as I appreciate students will already be receiving a lot, but there may be materials I will ask them to look over or read. |

| Personal Description: Hi, I am Olga. I have been a professional musician since 1986 (BMus, CT ABRSM, Dip ABRSM) as well as an interpreter (completed DPSI course in 2009 - Diploma in Public Service Interpreting, Local Government). I am tri-lingual, fluent in Russian, English and Lithuanian. Over the years I have developed and honed many important skills, such as patience, reliability & diligence. These, coupled with my single minded determination to succeed in everything I attempt, have provided me with what I believe are the necessary skills to be an excellent teacher. |
Teaching Experience: I have been teaching since 1986. I have always enjoyed teaching students of all ages/level and abilities. I regularly work for local government, i.e. the NHS, schools, social services etc) as an interpreter. This experience is very useful in equipping me to be able to ensure that my language students develop an extremely rounded vocabulary. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to teaching is that it has to first and foremost be FUN! I feel that my students learn more readily when they are enjoying themselves. I employ a highly personalised approach with individual strategies for all my students, whether they be six or sixty-six, whether they be studying for an examination or merely for pleasure. |

| Personal Description: I'm a native Italian. I've been living in England for the last 3 years I love languages and teaching. I studied Finance & Economy with foreign Languages ( English, French and German). My professional ambition is to contribute to the promotion of Italian culture: teaching my native language is the way that suits me better in reaching this goal! :) Either if you're planning a holiday to Italy, are simply passionate about the language or need to prepare for an exam, all my knowledge will be at your service! :) |
Teaching Experience: I come from a family of teachers! While I was in Italy I taught English to many people on a regular basis. Apart from that I have always taught English to foreign students ( it' around 5 years now! ):this has improved my deep understanding of grammar...so that common mistakes can be avoided. I also taught Italian for 4 years now, I do translations for newspapers, magazines and books on a daily basis. I have a broad field of experience in: -Tourism -Art & History -Economy -Finance -Medicine So if you're inspiring to learn or improve your language for your job, you've definitely come to the right place! Last but not least, I will ensure whatever your level is you will be able to speak and understand the language as never before! I'm aiming to do that in the shortest time possible as your time is very important. :) |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is to consider each student as unique and aim to understand their goals and ambitions as well as optimizing my teaching method to suit their individual needs. I believe that an important part of learning a new language is to understand and embrace the culture as well. I usually start my program with a short test to check "Your Learning Method" (this test is applied in the most famous and important schools of language all around the world) Everybody is different! :) there are people who learn with games, others who learn just listening, others who love writing to remember and people who learn visualizing or listening to music.... Whichever your method is, let's learn with fun! Each Student will benefit from a Personalized learning plan. |
