Personal Description:
I am the Head of Psychology at an inner London State School, experienced in teaching Psychology at GCSE and A level and teaching Religious Education up until to GCSE. I am calm and approachable and experienced in teaching these subjects content as well and revision skills to aid memory making learning more enjoyable. Having worked as an examiner I am very familiar with marking criteria which I feel is essential skill with higher level exams.

I am dynamic in my teaching styles having the skills and knowledge that only comes from being experienced in the field of education. I have a range of teaching resources and materials to aid learning and understanding.

Teaching Experience:

I have 4 years teaching experience and currently the head of Psychology at an outstanding inner London state school.

In my current role I teach AS and A2 Psychology to student with varying abilities, I am experienced at teaching students where English is a second language to them as well as offering an extra push to the gifted and talented students to ensure that they reach their full potential.

Prior to this I am experienced at teaching Religious Education to GCSE level and Psychology as GCSE and A level. I am most familiar with the AQA specification however experienced with EdExcel and OCR. However although the specifications vary slightly they test the same knowledge and skills.

I have the appropriate resources and worksheets to accompany any lesson that I deliver.

Tutoring Approach:

I would tailor my tutoring to each child's individual needs, establish their preferred learning style and adapt my approach to meet their requirements. I think that it is important to incorporate exam practice into the lessons so that I can analyse the way a student answers questions so that they are made aware of how to achieve the top grades. I also suggest revision strategies and essay plans to assist learning.

I am structured and methodological in my approach to tutoring, believing that well planned and engaging material will help students achieve.

Personal Description:
My name is Emma. I'm 23 years old and live in Salford.

I am a recent graduate with a BSc (Hons) in Criminology and Cultural Studies (2:1) from the University of Salford. I am hoping to work in adult offender learning for my career. I have a passion for learning and love to share that passion with others. I enjoy music, reading, history and comparative criminal justice.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of working with children in both a school and home environment. I currently work as a mentor for both children and adults who have barriers to learning and wish to do more of this in my spare time.

Tutoring Approach:

I complete an initial assessment of each student upon the first meeting in order to work out a teaching plan that is tailored to the needs and time restrictions of the student. This approach allows me to work with the strengths of the student to combat the weaknesses. I take a relaxed approach to tutoring as I feel that enjoyment of a subject is 50% of success in understanding.

I tutor for exam preparation, personal interest and mid-term review. I am flexible with tutoring times and prefer to meet in local libraries.

Personal Description:
19 Years Old, currently studying History at Lancaster University.
Looking to become a History teacher in the near future, and looking to add to a CV which already includes much academical success.
Approachable and easy going, tutors often referring to me as a "pleasure to be around" and "a well motivated and organised student, hungry for success"

Personal success in good, seeing others benifit thanks to your help is even better

Teaching Experience:

Work Experience at Primary Schools as a Teaching Assistant.
Frequent presentations given at A Level and Degree standard for teaching experience and peer to peer learning.
Frequently helping out my younger sisters with their GCSE homework so a good understanding of most subjects at that level too although History at any level is my speciality.
Also, as i am still at University at present, i am still in a learning environment and frequently get tips from my lectures and tutors there.

Tutoring Approach:

Willing to use a variety of techniques depending on the individual preference
Will discuss learning strengths with both the parents and the individual themselves to find most effective way to tutor each individual.
Also, a mixture of more serious work - essays, mini assessments - combined with fun - games, online activities - as i believe a variety of activities are needed to keep the individual interested, and being in higher education myself, i know that people learn more when they are having fun.
Help the individual with school/college work whilst providing extra help on topics which they suggest.
Prefer to set mini assignements for the next meeting, which we will then go through at the next tutoring session, highlighting any potential difficulties.

Personal Description:
I am 27 years old and have just moved to York from Australia, with my husband.
I love to read and spend time with my friends and family.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Primary School teacher, and have 9 years experience working with children from 6 weeks old up to 15 years old.
I have a wide variety of teaching methods to help students develop their learning skills and succeed in the classroom.
My expertise in Maths is in teaching strategies for the 4 number operations - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
I have a very strong background in Literacy learning. I have many skills to assist students to improve their reading and comprehension ability, increase their vocabulary and improve their spelling.

Tutoring Approach:

I approach tutoring with a strong focus on identifying the needs of the tutee, and responding to the learning styles that suit them best.
For younger students I prefer to make the learning experiences 'hands-on', and so I bring a number of learning tools to assist them to problem solve.

Personal Description:
I am a hard working and dedicated teacher. I currently work part-time in a sixth form college in Surrey on my day off I am completing my MSc in Democracy, Politics and Governance.
I have just moved to the Wimbledon area and am looking for a bit of extra spending money.

Outside of education I am interested in canoeing and rugby. I occasionally help prepare the coaching clinics at the Twickenham Stoop for Harlequins on a match day. I am also very interested in reading with modern fiction being a particular favourite.

Teaching Experience:

I am relatively new to the profession, having obtained my PGCE in 2006. I decided to focus upon post-compulsory education and so my teaching qualification is valid for students aged 16 and above (this doesn't mean I am incapable of teaching younger students!)
During my first year in my current job I enjoyed a 100% success rate with all students passing. This was in AS politics, AS Citizenship and A2 Politics. This year there was a high proportion of my AS students continuing with my course in the second year and most students performed above predicted expectations.

Tutoring Approach:

I would want to encourage discussion in my tutoring. I would hope that the most successful method of learning is to become engaged in a subject. I like students who have their own ideas and are willing to share them.
However, I would also want to encourage high academic standards. This may involve studying additional resources in an attempt to gain a higher knowledge of the topic.
If my students were preparing for a public exam I would expect them to be working on their exam technique and time management.

I am a caring and enthusiastic person, with a great sense of humour. I am a polite, respectful and creative person, who enjoys helping others.

My hobbies include; acting, dancing, playing the piano, writing songs, singing and reading.

I have recently started my degree in (BA Hons) English Literature and am passionate about working with children and teenagers.

Teaching Experience:

I have have given piano/singing lessons as a volunteer at a local school and local church youth group for 1-2 years. I have also delivered the A PAUSE programme at local schools to children aged 13-15.

I am currently tutoring two local pupils whose ages are 9 and 14.

Tutoring Approach:

I would find out how the child/teenager learns best using the 'Gardner method of learning' and then adapt their chosen subject to that way of learning. I would make sure that the relevant information is learnt, but would make each subject fun by using pictures, books, games, role-plays etc. I would spend time listening to the child/teenager as to the subject areas they find difficult and would cover those area's until they felt they understood them better.

I would do all of the above in accordance with the appropriate Curriculum.

Personal Description:
Recently, I have embarked on my gap year after completing my A-Levels and plan to go to Exeter University next year to study English Literature at degree level. I simply want to earn a little extra money as I plan to go to Asia in the summer to teach English to students in a class room environment. Having recently left school I am familiar with recent syllabi and what is expected from students in GCSE and A-Level exams and coursework.

Teaching Experience:

To learn a little about teaching others I took a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course and am now qualified to teach students of all ages. I hope that this will provide me with the opportunity to improve my teaching skills and give me the relative experience I need in order to expand my approach to teaching. I also spend plenty of time with my younger siblings and have a passion for the way children's minds develop and acquire from sources around them, this has led me to help consistently with subject matters, homework and SATs prep.

Tutoring Approach:

Throughout my education I have always obtained high grades and wish to pass on what I have learnt first hand to other students. I will not charge full rates as I am not specifically qualified to teach other subjects, however, if you or somebody else are in need of my creative, enthusiastic persona then I would be happy to help in any way I can.

Personal Description:
I am an Aussie born high school teacher with a passion for life and learning. I'm an avid reader, eager traveller and mad-keen Latin dancer! When I am not moulding the minds of the future, I write childrens' books, practise yoga, study psychology and dream of world domination! I look forward to meeting you.

Teaching Experience:

I have six years full time teaching experience in a range of public and private schools in Australia and the UK. I have two years experience as a tutor. My specialist subject areas are English and Drama but I also have experience teaching Religious Studies, History and Philosophy for students from year 1 to A-Level.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe school should be interesting, stimulating and relevant. I take a holistic approach to tutoring and work with each student to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, set goals and develop a plan of action for improvement that covers just their subject or all areas of their life. I expect my students to see tutoring sessions as part of an overall study plan. I will help directly with classwork, homework or assignments during sessions, but will also encourage students to plan their own revision and will help them to create a plan and stick to it. I am always available to my students for email consultation in between tutoring sessions.
