Personal Description:
I am a mother of three young girls ranging from 11 - 2 years old. I have often been frustrated with how rigid the school environment can be and how it can fail to provide the personal support that at times they have required. I have had to inject a significant amount of time and effort to make up for this shortfall. I understand that the resources are limited but it is a fact of life that students who require a little extra can often miss out. It is my personal experience with my own children that has motivated me into becoming a private tutor. I can imagine that it must be even more frustrating for those parents who want to provide additional support for their children, but perhaps are unsure of how to, due to lack of knowledge about the education system. I hope that my personal experience as a parent combined with my professional experience as a teacher will help to bridge that gap.

Teaching Experience:
I am currently teaching at a large comprehensive in Old Hill. I teach a variety of Business and Economic courses at GCSE and A Level. I am also responsible for moderating the level 1 and 2 Key skills courses ( Maths, English and ICT) for the school.
I teach BTEC Levels 1, 2 and 3, VGCSE, GCSE and A Level.
I have also taught KS3 Maths and English on a one to one basis for students who have found these subjects challenging.

Tutoring Approach:
I am very focused about ensuring that my teaching meets the needs of the individual. This is not always possible in a classroom, however, the beauty of one to one tutoring is that the teaching and delivery is custom to the individual.
My experience of one to one is that significant progress can be made by the students. In particular their confidence in their own ability develops helping them to continue to make progress even when the tutoring has finished.
Communication is vital, the only way that I am able to meet the specific needs of each student is if effective communication between parents, student and tutor takes place. This doesn't have to be formal - often little passing comments made by students are indications of what is really causing problems or barriers to their learning.
Finally I would ensure that my sessions are a positive experience that students enjoy rather than dread. Tutoring isn't school, it isn't about rules and structure, its about the student.

Personal Description:
I currently study French for an MA and have just returned from a year living and working in France, teaching English in a high school near Lille.

I'm absolutely committed to doing the best job I can. Being a student and only 20, I have very recent experience of GCSEs and A-levels myself, and as such know how difficult it can be, but also more importanly, which areas are important to focus on. I am an outgoing person who work well with people of all ages. I have just graduated from Warwick University with BSc (Hons) Engineering and Business Studies, and is currently planning to do a Masters. During my time in the university, I have taken two economics module which both gained 1st class. Personal Description:

I am currently out of mainstream schools but remain in education as the ICT assessor for Shropshire CC which has provided me with different skills and approaches rather than classroom led instruction.

Tutoring Approach:
I am a holistic type and I always want the learner to be happy with an answer they give and know "why" the answr is correct. I hopefully bring humour (debatable) and a wide variety of methods to my teaching along with contemporary examples.

At present I am available in the evenings but if all goes well then I will be extending that to daytim availability too.

A recent graduate from Queen Mary, University of London where I obtained a BSc degree in Economics, and currently studying for a Masters in Applied Econometrics. During university, I've had part time jobs as an Assistant tutor and an Activity Manager of an international summer camp. Tutoring Approach:
It is not only the tutor's job to teach a certain subject, but also to build confidence in that subject. I encourage students to grasp a detailed knowledge of any basic mathematical and economic skills (ensuring all pre-requisite knowledge and skills are of standard). Once core skills are achieved, students can pick up most concepts quickly. I try to adapt learning methods to individual students, taking into account other subjects and how the student learns.

It is also imperative that students learn to think for themselves, and I encourage students to work logically and methodically leaving less room for error, and students can then correct their own work if necessary, becoming more independent. All this builds up enough confidence in a student to sit an exam and pass with ease.

When tutoring, I encourage students to engage fully in the sessions, and I'm more than willing to go above and beyond to ensure any uncertainties a student has are cleared up.
