| Personal Description: Hello, I am a Masters student studying at Queen Mary and I already have a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science. I currently live and study in inner London, so travelling is not a problem for home tutoring. I also tutor students from my own family home if that is something you should prefer. I teach students from the age of 5 years to undergraduate university level. My primary subjects are the sciences, specifically BIOLOGY & CHEMISTRY and i do well teaching numeracy and literacy for primary school children. |
Teaching Experience: As mentioned already I am a Masters student, I am NOT a qualified (PGCE) teacher. However I do hold a current CRB check. I currently teach Biology and Chemistry GCSE and A-Level students and I also teach primary school children. I am familiar with the current primary and secondary school curriculum as well as what is required for students to success in exams ie exam technique and revision plans. Especially if you are looking for help with GCSE and A Levels subjects. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe every students' needs are different from one another. I also believe that every child has the potential to succeed academically. Schools often have one set way of teaching something, however not all students learn the same way. Some are better with reading books whilst others need that extra bit of time and attention. I understand this, and will work according to the students' best learning ability ; ie Kinesthetic learner or visual learner etc. A will do my best to improve the grade of the student by working as a team. |

| Personal Description: I have recently completed my MSc Mathematics degree at Queen Mary University of London. Also I obtained my BSc Mathematics in 2007. I have done GCSE maths to be familiar with the subject curriculum since I am a overseas student . My degrees in Mathematics have provided me with the knowledge and confidence to teach Key stages 3, 4 . |
Teaching Experience: In April 2006 I began my first work experience as a teacher at Jalalabad college in Bangladesh. During my work experience I taught A-level students. The observations of experienced teachers' lessons allowed me to observe their planning, structure and pupil/teacher interaction so that I was able to incorporate the positive attributes I had seen into my own teaching and planning. This work experience provided me with the opportunity to work with many pupils who have special education needs. I have therefore learnt a great deal about the many aspects of incorporating differentiation into a lesson. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that equal opportunities are an important factor to allow pupils to progress. Activities should be differentiated and appropriate to the level of each individual student. I reckon work with a student in a face to face situation demands more from a teacher and this will help me to develop as a teacher as well as gain more knowledge in those subjects. |

| Personal Description: I am currently a student at Imperial College London studying Chemistry. I also do Physics and Maths as my ancillary subject. I am well organised and able to manage time effectively. My hobbies and interest includes shotokan karate which I have done for the past nine years and also football. I attended secondary school as a boarder in Reading School, where I did my GCSEs (8A*s,4As) and A-levels in maths, further maths, chemistry and history (4As). I am used to working with children as I am a Kumon assistant. Kumon is a programme for children where they do worksheets for maths and English to improve their speed, accuracy and discipline. |
Teaching Experience: I have worked in a primary school as a volunteer running a morning maths class every Tuesday during my A-levels. This helped me learn a lot on how to convey my message to children so they understand how to solve the problem using their own intuition. Furthermore I have worked with children in the Bloomsbury Kumon centre for the past few years which has been beneficial in many ways. I have learnt how children can progress over time and what is required to help them. At school I have tutored younger children in maths and helped them with their GCSE and A-levels as a mentor. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe in going through problems with the children first and showing a clear example, then allowing them to practice until they understand and can do the problems on their own. Furthermore I sometimes guide them in the right direction without actually telling the answer so the child is able to figure it out for themselves. I would follow the syllabus provided and teach every topic in suitable order. Then I had work through past papers and leave them papers and homework on each topic to practice. |

| Personal Description: I have been teaching chemistry for last 25 years as a classroom teacher and home tutor. My teaching and tutoring experience covers KS3, KS4, A-level and university students. Apart from teaching, I have been marking papers for KS3 Science and I marked on-line papers for OCR GCSE chemistry. My tutoring experience in one-to-one tuition broadened to on-line tutoring which I found very interesting and as successful as conventional tutoring. At the beginning of my career as a chemist I worked in research and I have wide experience of practical chemistry which is useful when discussing chemistry practicals with my students. |
Teaching Experience: 2003 - now Tutor for GCSE and A-level Chemistry with Bath Tutors 2006-now On line tutoring for Fleet Tutors 2006-10 On-line marker for GCSE Chemistry for OCR 2004-07 Marker for KS3 Science for AQA and Edexcel 10/03 - 7/04 Supply Teacher (mainly Swindon secondary schools) 9/96 - 7/02 Part time teacher of Science/Chemistry, Monkton Combe School 9/93 - 7/94 Part time teacher of Science Y7, 8, and 10, Kingdown, Warminster 1/93 - 7/93 Part time teacher of A-level Chemistry, Wootton Bassett School, Wootton Bassett 12/76 -5/83 Teaching Assistant for Inorganic, Organic and Analytical Chemistry, 1st and 2nd year and Chemical Education, 4th year, School of Chemistry, University of Belgrade; Research in Organic Chemistry. |
Tutoring Approach: My main stand is to convince students that chemistry is interesting, useful and doable at any level. I always start with 'get to know lesson' where I learn about student's expectations and his/her abilities/problems. I show them what I could do for them and we agree about general approach and broad timetable. This lesson is free. There are 2 types of tutees: those who are retaking modules and those who want help from the start of their course. Main approach in retaking modules is going through exam papers and discussing problems, repeating parts of syllabus, adding notes and examples with learning about exam technique as well. The same approach is used with the other group of tutees, but in different order. With all tutees school work, notes and homework are discussed as needed. For this work I use exam papers, Exam Pro data bases, Curriculum press, Topic Cue Cards, various textbooks, Chemistry Review and the Internet. For on-line teaching I use free msn live chat. As this format does not distinguish between prices for tutoring on line and tutoring at my home, the prices are: A Level Chemistry at my home 20.00/h, on-line 18.00/1.5h University Level at my home 22.00/h on-line 20.00/1.5h Lessons are paid in advance by cheques. I accept to pay 1/2 of student's fee to UK Tutors. |

| Personal Description: Mature teacher with 25 years of experience as a NHS scientist, a research scientist and a forensic scientist prior to entering the teaching profession. I have had main responsibility for AS/A2 chemistry teaching at a large state school and I have also had pastoral experience as a form tutor for Year 10, Year 11 and Year 7 classes. Passionately committed to all my students and offering experience of teaching students with a wide range of abilities. Will travel to students' own home and available at weekends, evenings and for some week-day sessions. Birmingham, Solihull and West Midlands areas. |
Teaching Experience: Qualified teacher with 5 years experience of teaching in state schools. I have taught in an inner city school envirionment and have also taught students of high ability in an 'outstanding' school achieving 100% 5A*-C GCSE passes. Experience of teaching at KS3, 4 and 5. AQA GCSE science (separate sciences, dual award, core science, additional science and additional applied). At AS/A2 level I have taught chemistry (OCR Salters and OCR). I am an established teacher on the Salters chemistry camps for GCSE students and have been accepted as an assistant examiner for the OCR examination board. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is to offer assistance which is student-led wherever possible. Students are usually well aware of areas of difficulty and of their own preferred learning styles. My aim is to provide a service that is tailored to the learning style of the student and focused on their individual needs. I expect that the tutor session will be informal and relaxed but also intense and productive. Each session should encourage the student that progress is being made, that classroom teaching has been re-enforced and that scientific concepts have been understood fully. |

| Personal Description: I am a friendly, experienced and mature tutor. I enjoy explaining concepts at all levels, using analogies and examples where appropriate. I have a relaxed rapport with all levels of students. I have coached my own (twin) students up to GCSE level, and currently to AS and A2 levels in all the subjects I offer. Many of my studies have passed with A grades and some have even gone onto Professorships at Cambridge University. I offer special coached tailoring to help with Cambridge University entry as part of the A-level courses. This is all-inclusive - I have two Cambridge University doctorates, and College memberships. I also offer advice and marking on essays at all levels. I have examined up to first-degree, PhD and MD standards, both nationally and internationally. |
Teaching Experience: Extensive. Lecturing, supervisions, one-to-one at all levels, up to university postgraduate level. |
Tutoring Approach: Relaxed, informal. The student leads the pace, though I do try to keep on track with targets. I realise this is pointless if a student fails to grasp concepts, and therefore I offer extensive revision and refresher modules. Also, on our first meeting I offer 30 minutes free for us to get to know each other and for us to understand your problems and concerns, and how they might be addressed. So you get 1.5 hours for the price of one on this occasion. For higher levels, I will help access references to published work if required. |

| Personal Description: My name is Vicki and I have just qualified as a Science Teacher and I'm hoping to start my first post in September. I have taught all three Sciences up to GCSE standard and at KS3. Before I decided to retrain in Science I did a psychology degree. |
Teaching Experience: I have just finished my PGCE (teacher training qualification). During the last year I have taught Science in 2 schools to pupils of a variety of ages and abilities. |
Tutoring Approach: I think that it is important that tutoring should be very much a 2 way process between the tutor and the pupil. I think that the pupil should have some say into what areas should be covered in the sessions, with guidance from the tutor to their strengths and weaknesses. I think learning should be fun, and I try to incorporate as many different styles of teaching as possible ranging from video clips to card games, Internet research and using text books. I also think it is important to incorporate past papers as much as possible with exam style questions that pupils will be facing in their real exams, so I would base my sessions around exam questions as much as possible. |

| Personal Description: I am 47 years old, married with three children. I entered teaching in September 1991 following the successful completion of a Postgraduate Certificate of Education at the University of Bristol in July 1991. During the years between graduating from Sussex University with a 2.1 degree in Chemistry and becoming a teacher, I worked as a laboratory technician for a fertilizer manufacturer and I studied for a Master Degree that I successfully completed in 1990. I am a practical person who enjoys home improvements, car maintenance and gardening. I am an active member of my local Baptist Church. I teach children in "Extreme". This is a Sunday School class for boys and girls in years 5 and 6. |
Teaching Experience: I spent six years during the 1990's teaching balanced science courses to students aged eleven to sixteen and Advanced Level Chemistry to post sixteen students. I tutored a group of approximately thirty students from Year 7 through to Year 11, helping them with their personal, emotional and academic development. I have recently returned to teaching following a break of approximately eleven years. Between January 2009 and July 2009 I worked as a supply teacher working in a range of Secondary Schools in Coventry and Warwickshire. During the late 1990's, whilst not directly employed as a teacher, I worked part-time as a Tutor, visiting students in their own homes and helping them with their understanding of Science and Maths at Key Stages 3 and 4. |
Tutoring Approach: I prefer students to present me with specific problems or areas of study where they appear to be struggling with their knowledge, understanding or application of Science. This means that each session can be planned and prepared in advance, so that the available time may be used to its maximum affect. I like to use text books, past exam papers and (where possible) IT resources, to provide clear explanations of key scientific concepts and examples of the types of questions students may encounter in an examination. |

| Personal Description: I'm currently a second-year Chemical Engineering student at the University of Bath. I also hold the TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) alongside 8 specialist certificates in particular fields such as:TEFL for Young Learners, Teaching Business English, Teaching with Limited Resources, Teaching Large Classes, Teaching one-to-one English. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING is that I'm really passionate about teaching. For example when I learn something from someone, later on when I get to a better understanding of the topic, I start thinking that I could present and teach this topic to some students at even a better level an variety. Without exception this always happens to me. So having said that, I'm sure I can meet my students' need and with the skills I gained throughout getting my TEFL qualification, I'm even more experienced now in teaching, not only in English, but also the other subjects I have mentioned earlier. In my SPARE TIME I prefer to read books, listen to music, take photos and learn more about photography with my professional Canon 450D and also spend time with my friends or do sports. |
Teaching Experience: As a 19-year-old student, I've only been teaching students privately in different fields like Maths, Physics, English or Chemistry. I have got different teaching experiences and I learned a lot from each of those. |
Tutoring Approach: I have got really new and creative ideas for teaching different subjects and fields that I have a good understanding and knowledge about. It takes me no time to settle into a new class environment to be able to get on well with the students and feel comfortable with them and make them to have the same feeling as well. Personality-wise, I'm a very active and outgoing person that people normally enjoy spending time with and I can absolutely have a good time with people at any age and any cultural background. |
