| Personal Description: An English graduate myself, am very analytical and since embarked a career in Forensic Science with New Scotland yard. Since then I have carried out a Masters in Forensic Science and decided to enter into the rewarding profession of teaching. |
Teaching Experience: I have vast experience with a wide range of backgrounds, abilities and age groups. I concentrate on 11+ entrance exams to both grammar and private school, with excellent results. |
Tutoring Approach: I teach in a way that children understand and learn without actually realising that they are learning. With patience and a 'fun' approach to subjects, results can be paramount. The children's interests are a great foundation for children who result in mental block with their writing and bring the real life element to maths, enables students to relate to it better. Having a fun and bubbly personality helps in building a trustful bond where learning can take place without any pressure. |

| Personal Description: I am a fully qualified secondary school teacher living in the Bury area. I currently teach all of the sciences up to GCSE level and have also taught Biology and Chemistry at A-Level Grade. I have a B.Sc (Hons) Zoology and before retraining as a teacher I worked for 5 years as a Zoo Keeper. |
Teaching Experience: I am currently employed as a teacher of Science at a secondary school in the Burnley area. I work full-time and this is my second year teaching at this school. Prior to this I worked full-time at a secondary school and sixth form college in Wolverhampton. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe one-to-one tuition should be a personal and internalised process which involves equipping the learner with appropriate strategies, new ways of thinking about a problem, self-help routines and fixing old misconceptions. I aim to provide sessions that are appropriate to the learner and which provide challenge and support to help pupils feel secure in their learning. |

| Personal Description: Hello! I am 33 years old, originally from Denmark and moved to the UK 8 years ago for my degree. Before teaching, I worked as a monkey veterinary technician in the US, conducted my Masters research on crop-raiding macaques in Indonesia, and helped to run a volunteer expedition in the Amazon. After a couple of years of teaching, I heard the call of the wild again and travelled for a year through Mexico and Central America, from where I have recently returned. But through all of my disparate and exotic experiences, I maintained a passion for education, teaching and tutoring, and used my skills to volunteer, teaching in various communities along the way. My CRB is currently being updated as I have been out of the country for more than 3 months. |
Teaching Experience: I completed my teaching degree in 2007 at Canterbury Christ Church University. I trained in two very different types of schools, private Catholic school and selective high school, which gave me the experience to engage students of different abilities and backgrounds. I also received training to teach EAL and SEN students. I am a qualified teacher of Science, but as a fluent Spanish linguist also taught Spanish as part of my regular timetable. I teach Biology up to A level, Chemistry and Physics up to GCSE level. |
Tutoring Approach: Students, young and old, don't like subjects they don't think they can succeed in. My approach is to break down material, relate it to everyday life and interests, and positively reinforce all the way to build up confidence. I am stubborn (!) and I don't give up until it's mastered. |

| Personal Description: I graduated from Reading University with a food science degree followed by a teacher training course( PGCE). The degree itself involved lots of biochemistry along with process engineering. This required a very high level of knowledge of biology, chemistry and physics, which has helped me a great deal with my teaching. I consider myself a very vibrant person and I like my enthusiasm to be passed to my students. I am very dedicated and passionate about teaching, which is very transparent to my students and I believe this to be reason for my success in teaching science. I am a firm believer that all students have the ability to succeed but some need more guidance than others. |
Teaching Experience: In my years of teaching i have covered key stage 3 (SATS) and GCSE up to A-level. I have taught students with a huge range of abilities. To achieve success, I have used an array of teaching methods including but not limited to; I.T, auditory, visual and kinestic learning techniques. I consider myself a very creative teacher, during the last year I have set up forums for discussing science topics with other students as well as making Podcasts available for download. This has proved extremely successful, as far as being mentioned in a national science magazine. During the last few years I exceeded target grades set by the school for both KS3 and KS4. I believe this stems from my passion for the subject and my creativity in my teaching methods. |
Tutoring Approach: Over the last three years of tutoring i have seen a significant improvement in all my students. Improving in science is not just about gaining the extra knowledge but gaining the confidence to explore the field by being creative and using ones imagination. By tutoring students as individuals, it has allowed me to identify their weaknesses and improve on them. I use methods that are appropriate to the students learning style, so I can help them fulfil their potential. |

| Personal Description: A qualified and experienced teacher, I live in North Northumberland with my husband, our 4 children and pet dog. Despite not having done a huge amount of formal teaching over the past few years, I have done a little supply work and enjoy spending time helping my own youngsters with their learning. Now that my children are growing up, I want to spend more time helping other people achieve again. I like the flexibility that private tuition offers. I'm prepared to travel within a 15 mile radius of my home address (though you will need to cover the fuel costs) or you can come to me. I will also happily communicate via the internet or over the phone if there are problems with studies - though I don't have skype or anything like that at present. |
Teaching Experience: I have spent 10 years of my life as a school teacher and have almost a lifetime of informal teaching experience! Having completed a teaching qualification (PGCE) at Durham Uni in 1994, I spent 6 years in London teaching combined sciences at KS3 and KS4. I also developed and delivered a Biology A-level curriculum for several years. In 2000, I moved back home to Northumberland and worked in a private school where I taught students from 8yrs of age through to 19yrs. Subjects included science (KS2/KS3), biology (KS4/Yrs 12+13), mathematics (KS2), technology(KS2/KS3), PHSE(KS2/KS3/KS4). More recently, I have taken time out to spend more time with my family. With 3 children at First School, I have continued to gain teaching experience helping my youngsters with their learning. Additionally, as well as doing a bit of supply, I have offered informal tuition in Biology and English to some of my peers. |
Tutoring Approach: Learning is a two-way relationship between tutor and tutee - what works for one learner may not work for another. The use of a variety of learning techniques is important - it's necessary to tailor lessons to the individual needs, strengths and interests of the student. I like to utilise a number of resources - the internet, texts, relevant current affairs articles and hands on experiments where appropriate. To learn well, it's important to feel relaxed - I try my best to make the student feel comfortable and confident. I am happy for parents to join in with lessons; it's useful, as parents can help their children with their studies too! For GCSE and A-level tutees, learning good revision and examination techniques are also necessary and these are areas I also deal wth. Past pupils have almost always achieved or excelled expectations. I am in touch with some of my ex students (now adults) who would no doubt be happy to provide an honest reference! |

| Personal Description: I am a passionate, confident and energetic private tutor who can ensure your child achieves their expected level if not higher. I have an excellent tutoring record from boosting pupil confidence so that they can perform better in exams and coursework to pupils passing selective entrance exams thereby achieving their ambitions. I am realistic and set measurable yet challenging targets for my private students. I strongly believe in that if a student works hard and is dedicated, they will achieve their ambitions and desires. I have and always will endeavour to deliver at the highest level to achieve this. |
Teaching Experience: I have worked in primary and secondary schools since I was reading for my Biochemistry degree at King's College London. I have worked as a school mentor and teaching assistant before embarking on my teacher training course. I have gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education Studies qualification from Keele University. As part of this course, I had placements in 3 different schools both primary and secondary. I have been a private tutor since 2002. Despite being new to this role, I'm very energetic and full of ideas which have guaranteed success. Being young is advantageous as I can motivate your child to perform at their best if not higher. |
Tutoring Approach: Confident, dedicated and passionate approach, using a wide range of teaching methods tailored to how your pupil learns. My lessons are enjoyable and exciting, which I feel is important so that the pupil doesn't lose interest. I also have the ability to adapt the pace of the lessons thereby sustaining the pupils attention and concentration. I use a wide range of resources depending on the level of study. For example, for a GCSE Maths student, as part of their homework, I assign sufficient GCSE exam-style questions right from the beginning so that the pupil is able to come to terms with the standard required of them. I use a wide range of textbooks and other literature as appropriate. I have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, which I use to ensure parents are aware of their child's progress and to inform them of my future lessons. |

| Personal Description: I have just successfully completed my NQT year and have really enjoyed teaching this year. I believe curiosity is the key to learning and the key to teaching is to evoke curiosity. That is why I try to get my pupils curious about what they are being taught. |
Teaching Experience: During my PGCE, I taught at two different schools, obtaining experience in ksy stage 3, key stage 4 and key stage 5. During the beginning of this year I began as a supply teacher at various schools until October half term. Whilst supplying, I got a feel of teaching other subjects like maths. After October half term, I obtained a full time maternity cover at Urmston Grammar school. During my time spent at Urmston Grammar, I taught across all key stages in biology and taught year 9 chemistry as well as A2 Environmental Science. Next year I will move on to William Hulme's Grammar School to fill the role of teacher of Biology. |
Tutoring Approach: I find it nice to teach in a one on one situation because I can ensure my pupil has understood the material. In the past, I have tutored during lunch periods and after school. I generally discuss the topic at hand using visuals and then follow up with some questions that relate to the topic. Whenever possible, I also use mnemonic device wherever possible because I find things easier to remember that way. |

| Personal Description: I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2007 and currently continuing my degree in Medicine at University College London. I speak 6 languages, have traveled extensively and am a published photograper. |
Teaching Experience: I have been tutoring in Math and Science for over 3 years. I have tutored dozens of students of various abilities and ages during that period and received overwhelmingly positive feedback . My students have gone on to do very well. I have also been advising students and supporting them through the UCAS application process with University Access Schemes. As part of this process I have spoken at and organised conferences around the country to support students applying to university. |
Tutoring Approach: Most students can benefit from a change in approach to the way they study rather than increase the amount of time studying. I aim to maintain the level of the supervision to ensure that the student is always pushed but not overwhelmed. I would encourage sessions to be a two way conversation in which we explore the topic in depth to achieve a clear understanding rather than just concentrate on past questions. I find this keeps the my students interested and ultimately leads to better results. Teaching Experience: I have successfully tutored primary children while in College. My mother is a qualified teacher and has been tutoring school children for many years(In India). |
Tutoring Approach: I believe its important to have an individualistic approach and tailor the teaching according to the needs of the child. It is important to identify the weak points and strong points of child and teach accordingly. I would want to make teaching an enjoyable , enriching and stimulating experience for th echild, and make th echild realise that ' Knowledge is Power'. I would be more than happy to explain more than once/twice, until I am asssure dthat the student understands the concept. I believe it is very important to have good foundations, so making sure that the student understands the basic concepts is imperative. It is important to make things and concepts interesting by giving logical examples from everyday life for science subjects. |

| Personal Description: From 1996 - 2000 I studied for a 4 year degree from the University of Edinburgh with Honours in Medical Microbiology. I continued at the University of Edinburgh to gain a PhD in 2004 in the area of Molecular Microbiology. I then did a 3 year post-doctoral research position in vaccine development for Salmonella before moving to Berkshire to work as a Molecular Biologist for a leading Biopharmaceutical company. I am a committed and talented scientist. |
Teaching Experience: I have 7 years undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience from Edinburgh University. This includes both 1 to 1 tutoring and group sessions specialising in problem solving and practical science teaching. I have been successfully tutoring GCSE and A level Chemistry and Biology since moving to Bershire. |
Tutoring Approach: I tailor the tutorial to the student. The approach will depend on the time of year and the demands on the student at those times. Pre-exam tutorials will clearly be different from mid-term sessions. As I am a full-time scientist I can provide an insight into cutting-edge research and the relevance of science today which is often missing in science teaching in the classroom. I am very approachable and enthusiastic about science teaching and hope to build a rapport with each student. I believe a good relationship is the key to the student getting the most out of the experience. |
