Personal Description:
I am versatile, creative and ambitious. I believe nothing is impossible. I have a passion for teaching and learning. I have been brought up in an environment where education was the most important priority in life.
Learners needs are the core of the teaching and learning environment, I have a pleasant personality and loads of patience to support students in learning and understanding their individual learning styles.
For me teaching is filling the learning gap between what the student's knowledge to what is required in terms of the specification and examination and assessment requirements of the course. I am familiar with all teaching boards to name a few include; Edexcel, AQA, OCR, Welsh and university examinations too.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 12 years of teaching in UK and about 10 years of teaching abroad. I have taught a variety of subjects including: General Science, English, Business Studies, Economics, Marketing, International Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Finance, Managerial Finance, Human Resource Management, Research Methodology, Business and Economics, Business management and many more
With regards to teaching levels; I have taught GCSE, AS/A level, Undergraduate and Graduate level as well Primary and Secondary levels too.
Currently teaching in a college in London, teaching Business Studies and Economics to A level students.
I am flexible in my teaching approach and have helped students in writing their personal statement, checking assignments, help with research dissertations, proposals etc.
Please feel free to contact me any time to discuss these.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching is my passion. I have a student-centered approach to teaching and believe in tailoring the teaching style to the needs of the student.
I have a proven track record of students showing great success in their exams over the years I have been teaching with 75% achieving grades A and B, and the rest as Cs. I work hard and support students in achieving their best potential.
I have over 21 years of teaching and have taught in a number of positions including a private tutor, as a lecturer in a college and as a teacher in a high school.
You can be sure you have made the right choice.

Personal Description:
As a British Chinese, I spent my childhood in China until I was 11 when my family moved to London. I found the pace of study of mathematics at my state school to be too slow for my curiosity. From the age of 12, I self-taught mathematics until university. During this period, I completed my GCSE maths with A* at the age of 12, A-level maths at 14 with a score of 599/600, A-level further maths at 16. For A-level studies, I completed 7 A-levels (Maths, Further Maths, Music, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies) and AS-level in ICT, all at my inner city state school. I went on to study Mathematics at Imperial College, graduated with first class honours and my final year exam results ranked first in my year - it is something I aim to teach my students.

I worked for a number of years for a finance firm in the City of London. At the same time, I have been tutoring since I was 18. My tutoring spread through recommendations, and I still have a number of long term tutees. I have always found tutoring to be most satisfying and fulfilling, especially when I witness students' progress from bafflement to appreciation, and eventually achieving their aspirations. Now I have decided to become a dedicated full time professional tutor, and has been doing so for last three years.

Teaching Experience:

I have done a great deal of one-to-one maths tuitions, more than 60 students over the last ten years and more than 5000 hours. Almost all the tuition is in mathematics, although sometimes I also help with sciences at the same time. Most of my previous students have been introduced to me by way of recommendation, a few found me from uktutors site, I have not had the need to advertise else where. I have tutored maths at GCSE, A-level, and also tutored Further Maths. All my students have done very well in their maths exams, so far all A's and A*'s, they have had offers and gone to top universities, including: Oxford, UCL, KCL, Warwick, Cardiff.

Past student / parents references are available upon request, in fact most of them would be happy to speak to you. And I will forward as many references as you reasonably require. I also have a long list of previous student highlights, too long to put here, but available upon request.

New from this academic year 2015, I also offer grade A guarantee for A level maths, with reimbursement if the guarantee is not met. I take pride and responsibility for my student's grades! Probably more than they do!

My teaching experience started from myself, as I self-taught maths until university. In order to master my subject by myself, I read many text books and assimilate the best ideas and methods of each. In the end, I summarized the best methods, which are often starkly intuitive and widely applicable. With these unique methods, a focus on deep intuitions and my own enthusiasm, the passion I have for maths is often transferred to my tutees. I am also of the philosophy that if a topic does not feel easy for a tutee, then that is my problem, not theirs. Then I would strive to find a better way to allow my tutees to understand the topic as I do, and feel as easy as I do.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring approach is one of efficiency and clarity. Efficiency and clarity means that I will be able to cover a vast amount of material in a short period of time, while not sacrificing clarity and understanding for my pupils. Students are required to learn most of the methods available for any topic. Where possible, I will emphasize the why something works the way it does as well as how to use it. All these are to help pupils to develop a deep understanding and appreciation for the subject, as well as best equip them for exams. All these can still be achieved efficiently and at speed! My pupils are usually surprised at how much we can cover and how well they can understand something at such speed. The efficiency and clarity can be achieved because I make it my goal to deliver the clearest ideas to my students as efficiently as possible. This is what I spend time doing when I am not tutoring. Along the way my students will benefit from many new ways of thinking on many topics which are not found on text books or anywhere else, which give them an edge in exams. Final note, I usually cover everything, and in advance, which will allow the student to have school lessons as revision class.

In addition, when I take someone on, it is naturally my goal to help motivate them along the way. If a tutee isn't doing enough work, I will take an active role to encourage and motivate the student to work harder. To me it is all part of what I do, if the thing that is stopping a student achieving is their habits or time management, then I will help them deal with it too.

Finally, I place great importance in maintaining a positive relationship with the tutees. Before any tuition start, we would have an informal chat with parents and student to establish how the student would like me to help him or her. It is most important that the student understand that I am here to help them achieve their goals, not that of the parents goals. This will allow us to start from a good basis to form a positive relationship in order to help the student.

Final notes:
1) I am currently developing a video A-level course, which is the best version of myself in videos! Contact me if you wish to know more, rates are significantly reduced. Homework will still be marked by me, and follow on discussions are done through Skype. Contact me for more information.
2) Further Maths A2 modules are charged at £60 per hour - this website does not allow me to state it.
3) If it is required that I travel to you, this is charged at £40 per hour pro rata. (Not available this academic year, I am pretty full.)
4) There will be weekend availability from next academic year as things stand, contact me to place a deposit to take a time slot for next academic year.

Personal Description:
I am a mechanical engineer with MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development from University of Cambridge.

Teaching Experience:

I was involved in conducting the training camp for the selection of the team that represented Pakistan in the 36th International Physics Olympiad, held in Spain. I was involved in conducting exams, practicals, marking, teaching as well as coordinating tutorials sessions with professors.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to take a practical approach to teaching. I want to give an intuitive feel to the students to help him grasp complex concepts. I do this by giving everyday examples to highlight the subjects under study. I want to
make science fun, cool and intuitive for students and remove the myth and misconceived perception that it is difficult and boring. If the teaching approach is correct, there is no reason why students will not be thrilled by laws and mechanisms of universe.

Personal Description:
I am a higher level TA with ten years of teaching experience. I am 28 years old and I am currently working with young people up to the age of 18 with RMBC and I also work with young people with disabilities.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in primary education for ten years. I have worked as a one to one with children with Special Educational Needs and developed my skills training to be a Higher level Teaching Assistant.
Throughout my time in Primary education, I have worked effectively with teams in Key Stage one and two. Due to my extensive experience and educational background I often cover for teachers. I am able to confidently teach from a given plan, adapting the teaching where required and utilising support staff effectively. I have a solid understanding of the essential skills and learning outcomes and have used this knowledge to support children where necessary.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in a personalised learning approach. The activities I use are dependent on the child and the way they learn. I understand that children can learn visually, kineasthetically or can be auditory learners. Therefore I adapt my teaching and my activities to suit the learner.

Personal Description:
Hi there! =)

My name is Karly, I am a qualified teacher of Science. I currently work full time as a Teacher of Science and am one of the lucky people who can say they genuinely enjoy their job!! I am passionate about my subject and aim to help learners discover the fun that can be had!

I have experience in preparing candidates for their examinations, helping to prep to allow them to reach their full potential e.g. Revision techniques, guidance etc.

I am available to tutor Chemistry, Physics and Biology at KS3 (Year 7-9)and all three sciences at GCSE. At A-Level I teach and specialise in delivering Biology (Edexcel). Tuition is differentiated according to ability.

I am professional, friendly and fun. I am an approachable person and I like to make learning simple and bite-sized, enabling learners to enhance their understanding. I am efficient with time and like to ensure learners feel they have really made progress after their lessons!

If you`re interested in tuition for your child (or are in fact a student looking for additional support) please do not hesitate to contact me!

References can be provided by my employer upon request! =)

I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks, Karly =)

Teaching Experience:

Chipping Sodbury

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly, fun and approachable person who is patient and understanding of the fact that different individuals learn in different ways. I like to give lots of practical examples and encourage ways for learners to link their learning.
I enjoy kinaesthetic approaches to learning e.g. drama and use ICT for visual learning. I like sessions to be bite-sized and chunked to allow retention and allow learners to feel that they are making progress!

I hate to see students who doubt their abilities and have low self confidence therefore I am always encouraging and always praise progress and aim to raise self esteem and confidence of my students =)

I encourage learners to be honest when learning, for example, if they feel the work is to difficult or not challenging enough so that I can adapt my lessons to ensure they are being positively challenged and develop.

I like to have a positive and professional relationship with parents and learners and aim to agree structured goals to help focus the progress of the learners!

Personal Description:
My name is Jae, an international student at University of Surrey studying Aerospace Engineering. I have also studied at Australian National University for two years. My major at Australian National University was Manufacturing and Management Engineering. Although I am an international student, I have finished my junior and senior secondary education in English spoken country, thus I have good background of using English.

Teaching Experience:

I have no official teaching experiences in the UK. However, I am always willing to help my colleagues if they have any questions or problems regarding their subject as long as it is engineering related materials. On the other hand I was a volunteering Maths, Physics and English tutor in Korea for a year in total.

Tutoring Approach:

It is essential to understand the basic and fundamental concept in every academic subject and practice it. Thus, my approach for tutoring is to express the fundamental base as easy as possible then trying many examples to make a new understanding solid for later application.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher with a Master's degree in English Literature. I have also recently graduated with a First class Honours degree in Physiotherapy from Salford University.

While studying for the Physiotherapy degree I have undertaken tutoring work online concentrating on study skills assignment support, and proofreading.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching within a local college and taught students from the age of 16 years old and above. This was primarily focused on Literacy and Study Skills. During this time I also taught students from a range of EU and international students focusing on their grasp of English as a second language. During this time I followed a Government-set curriculum to help students achieve G.C.S.E. equivalent grades to allow them to progress onto Access courses and beyond.

During my last degree I worked with students with learning difficulties including hearing impariments, dyslexia and dyspraxia. This involved notetaking, assignment structure and time management skills. More recently I have worked as a tutor online helping with essay planning and structuring, proof reading and correction of written work for spelling, grammar and paragraph restructuring, time management and organisational skills, referencing and completion of reference lists and proofreading for Further/Higher education students, up to Masters level.

I also have experience of helping international students in terms of organising the study skills, supporting them, and mentoring them on their difficult academic journey. I have also recently assisted with international publishing projects, mainly in the healthcare field

Tutoring Approach:

I take a structured and methodical approach to helping students and believe that if the right foundation is set and appropriate planning implemented, the student will achieve to the best of their ability.

For all assignments work I use a University-based academic writing skills format currently in use at the University of Salford.

I am offering tuition online, via email. Once we have agreed the way forward I will give you an honest appraisal of what services I am able to offer and the time that this is likely to take.

I am happy to send references if required. I have a CRB check from my Physiotherapy degree which will be updated by my current employer.

Please note that I am unable to write your academic assignments for you as this would be unethical.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching experience in schools

I arrived in the UK in 2009 as a Foreign Language Assistant. I was teaching French in rural primary schools around Suffolk.

After my PGCE, I started working at Thomas Gainsborough School as a French teacher. I have taught primary school students at local primary schools (Wells Hall, Bures Primary School, Nayland Primary School) and pupils from Year 7 to Year 13. I have a very good knowledge of the GCSE and A-level exams.

I have also taught Spanish to students in Year 7, 8 and 9.

Other teaching experience (private tutoring)
-I have taught French to two mature students, for leisure. I was teaching them according to their needs: one student wanted to discuss the news and I was printing articles that we would study. I also helped this student taking care of paper work related to her house in France. My other student only wanted to practise the speaking, therefore we would speak in French for about one hour.

-I have taught French to two secondary school students who purely loved the French language. We would do games, grammar, speaking activities and we even made some crêpes!

Tutoring Approach:

I will tailor my lessons to your needs or the needs of your child. I can teach French to beginners, help with homework, re-explain what wasn't understood in the classroom, study novels or simply have a chat.

Personal Description:
I am a recently retired Clinical Scientists (registered). I am married with a son and I am a youthful 67 year old with an 8 years old son! We are a non smoking family. My involvement with "mathematics", at various levels, dates back to when I left secondary school (Blackpool) in 1964 and worked for the Civil Service for 5 years. I was in an accounts division and passed two additional maths (and eventually English!) O'Levels via evening classes as well as enjoying the 60s and playing bass guitar in local groups. I took a 1 year full time A''Level course (Maths, Further Maths and Physics) and subsequently read for a Mathematics degree (Physics subsid.) at the University of Nottingham (1970-73). During this time, I had 3 vacation studentships with different departments of the Scientific Civil Service. After graduating, I worked for around 15 years as a computer programmer / analyst during which time I passed an HND in Computer Studies (University of the South Bank, London). Although I was 40 years old when I was made redundant from a communications company, I decide to make a significant career change and return to my "roots" and look for scientific work where my mathematical skills would be better used. After 2 years as a Medical Laboratory Scientific Officer in the lung function laboratory at the Royal Brompton, I had the tools and experience to apply for a research post in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Post Graduate Medical School (RPGMS, Hammersmith Hospital).

I retired in 2014 after 25 years as a researcher / Clinical Scientist at the RPGMS and Royal London. A large part of my research involved mathematical analysis of breathing patterns and flow-volume curves. This involved developing techniques and algorithms for alternative methods of assessing "lung function". I published many papers in international medical journals and all included a significant maths / stats content. During this time, I took evening classes obtaining additional A' Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Statistics and then read for an M Sc in General Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Kings College London. In 2005, my portfolio was reviewed by the Health Professions Council and I registered as Clinical Scientist, which is a protected title, The main reason for the additional qualifications was my passion for learning and the thrill of sitting examinations and testing myself. The addition A'Levels and M. Sc. were taken for the challenge and pleasure and were not directly relevant to my career. One important reason for offering private tuition is my love of teaching / learning and I miss my close involvement with the "sciences". I have been accepted as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) ambassador and I have an enhanced DBS check certificate.

Teaching Experience:

Although, I do not have formal teaching qualification and I only started offering private tuition at the beginning of 2015, I am a patient person who has tutored a range of tutees from Common Entrance Exam level to adult learner including CGSE students for both Mathematics and Statistics.

However, my "teaching" roles / experiences go back to the mid 60s helping friends struggling with the Civil Service maths entrance exams and later, post graduation, I taught maths, unpaid, to several children of friends as well as adult friends and colleagues who needed to obtain better qualification. My research positions included (i) formal teaching / lecturing roles at all levels e.g. work experience students, medical / nursing students, visiting medics, junior members of the lab staff as well as registrars and consultants; (ii) presenting the research at local, national and international meetings and (iii) giving guest lectures on B. Sc. and M Sc. courses.

In my research / technical support work, I found particular pleasure explaining to children and parents the purpose and science that underpinned the tests and the analysis and interpretation of the results. This was a unique experience for almost all of them. It gave them and me a lot of pleasure and improved the success problems. In my own time, I helped patients, some who missed a lot of school time due to their problems, with both school work in the sciences and others with projects related to the maths and biology of their respiratory problems. Invariably, they ended up knowing more than their teachers!

Tutoring Approach:

As George Orwell never said "All tutees are not the same but some are more different than others".

I have a variety of approaches, depending on factors such as (i) whether the tutee needs teaching or revision; (ii) the number of lessons the tutee can fit in before the exam; (iii) their strengths and weaknesses, as well as their interests; (iv) whether the tutee is struggling to keep up or a flyer needing to ensure an A* (v) the length of the sessions 45-90 mins and whether it is one or two session a week and (vi) the work they are able to do between sessions.

However, there are aspects that are common to all tutees: before starting the lessons, I am happy to meet for a chat (no charge) to spend as long as necessary clarifying important issue such as (i) which board, level and paper they will be sitting; (ii) the text book they use and which parts of the syllabus have been covered and whether any need revising or explaining and (iii) wherever possible, obtaining suggestions and feedback from their teachers including where marks had been lost in recent exams.

Other aspects of my approach include (i) the tutee attempting appropriate questions / papers from other boards to encourage and foster "thinking outside the box" and, thus, to be prepared for questions that do not fit the usual mode; (ii) e-mailing questions of papers in advance of session to allow adequate time for preparation; (iii) feeding back how sessions have gone and suggestions for changes and being available between session via e-mail; (iv) moving up and down the difficulty ladder depending on the progress; (v) working on exam technique and teaching how to not misinterpret questions, sometimes, badly written; (vi) preparing tutees for difficult topics about to be taught at school, to ensure they get the most out of upcoming lessons; (vii) using examples from everyday life to demonstrate the use and usefulness of maths and statistics outside of the classroom and (viii) building up confidence and aiming to engender a passion and love of the subject and learning, in general.

I make extensive use of marking schemes and examiners reports to discuss how the tutee may have obtained the correct answer but lost marks due to not showing their working or lost time providing irrelevant details and this has been very successful and interesting for the tutees.

Some of my feedback:
(i) As a Year 11 student, Peter has been providing me with extra mathematics tuition during the final months before my GCSE examinations, offering distinct, concise teaching within a relaxed but highly enjoyable and yet professional environment. As a mathematician, Peter has aided me in approaching mathematics from a somewhat more lateral perspective, exploring multiple methods that could be employed to solve a challenging question; a form of thinking that is seldom used within a typical school environment. Peter's abundant, infectious passion for both his tuition and mathematics manifests itself within his unswerving support and guidance during our sessions together, delivering a uniquely engaging teaching environment within which to learn, but most importantly, to enjoy learning mathematics!"

(ii) Parent of a Year 11 school girl: Hello Peter, thank you for your follow up, your emails always have an interesting flair about them. We also enjoyed our meeting and Ebony particularly liked your relaxed approach to the subject, for that reason alone I think she would benefit from being able to ask questions without feeling awkward about what she doesn't understand, most importantly I agree with your 'spades a spade' philosophy in how to interpret the syllabus into the real world.

(iii) Teacher's reply to an e-mail from the mother of a Common Entrance school boy: Thank you for your email. I am pleased Edward has a good tutor and is happy doing extra Maths. The best paper to prepare Edward for our end of year test would be a practice SATs test as they follow a similar format to ours.

(iv) A recent GCSE student, EDEXCEL Higher, via his mother: Peter, I obtained and A in my Stats paper and B in my maths paper and I was told by my teacher that it might be worth remarking, as I was only several marks away from the A Grade)

Consulting the 'breakdown' of my overall Mathematics grade, it appears as though I (thanks to your support) did exceptionally well within the non-calculator paper (the equivalent of a very high A/ very low A* in terms of marks), but it was simply a few questions at the end of the calculator paper (that seemed to baffle everyone, regardless of ability) that partially pushed my overall grade down.

Once again, thank you for all of your support and guidance; I certainly would not have been able to achieve my result within the NON-calculator paper, the paper that I claimed was more intimidating, without our sessions within the Library. You have improved not only my proficiency, but also my confidence in Maths enormously and for that I cannot thank you enough.

(v) Father of a schoolgirl (EDEXCEL Higher): "E" did very well overall and passed all 13 ! In Maths she was one point off a B so of course that's a C. I think we will request a remark for the maths paper. Many thanks again for your help in the past, best wishes.

Personal Description:
I am an electronics and telecoms engineering college graduate. I have an overseas degree in law. I work for a big transport infrastructure company as an engineering manager. I love teaching and sharing my vast knowledge in that which I know.

Teaching Experience:

My experience is mainly in coaching and one to one instruction and mentoring. I am patient and I go that extra to make sure the student gets the best of what I offer.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to give an overview of the value of education in general and to establish interest in the subject. I then coach the student to understand that the success story is centred on him or her no matter how good I am. In other words I give 5-10 free minutes of motivating the student before the real lesson
