Personal Description:
I am a very motivated individual who can see the potential and possibilities in all pupils I teach and have taught. Throughout the years, I have had to prove myself time and time again, and know what it is to work hard in order to achieve the desired results. I'm a firm believer in the 'work hard, play hard' philosophy. I absolutely love teaching and feel that there is nothing more rewarding than when a child you have been working with and ploughing away at finally gets it, and you can see it on their face - a sense of pride, worth and achievement. It's great!

Teaching Experience:

In 2005, I completed my Primary PGCE. I did supply teaching for a year in various schools, some very challenging, before accepting a job at Flying Bull Primary School, Portsmouth in 2006. I currently teach Year 3/4 and am now in my 4th year of teaching and I am as passionate as when I first started, always looking to better my practice, approach and effectiveness.

Tutoring Approach:

In one to one tutoring, I do the following:

1. Talk to the individual and see what they would like help in and how they learn best.
2. Initial assessment to find out strengths and areas of development and what level they are at.
3. Draw out a plan/set objectives and show how we (as a team) can achieve them.
4. Then we are ready to go...!
(Regular feedback is given and tracking done to show the level of progress being made.)

Personal Description:
I am an Italian native speaker, very friendly, warm and sociable. I really care about my students and I strive to give them always the best of myself at all times. Although very serious and organised, I like putting a sense of fun in my lessons. I have a great sense of humour and I believe that learning should be a pleasant and fun process.

Teaching Experience:

I have an extensive experience as a teacher. Many years ago, while still in Italy, I taught English in primary schools. In London, I have been teaching 1-1 lessons for many years, until I became a self-employed tutor two years ago, after qualifying top of my class as an Italian teacher at the Cultural Italian Institute. Part of my course included daily teaching practice to classes within the Institute.

Tutoring Approach:

My training course focused on both teaching theory, based on the communicative method, and daily teaching practice. The practice included creating lesson plans and making the materials involved beforehand. I have been praised by tutors, students and colleagues for creating very interesting lesson plans and original materials, and for my caring interaction and attention to students' needs.
In my daily work as a freelance teacher I put the students' interests and needs first, and make lessons plans that are tailored to them.

Personal Description:
I'm a student in 6th form in North London and am going on to study Chemistry at University in 2011.

Teaching Experience:

I've been tutoring on and off for a couple of years on an informal basis mainly covering for friends while they're away.

Tutoring Approach:

As I said, I have mainly done informal tutoring in the past, but from the experience I've had I've found that it makes a big difference to undertake tutoring a few months at least before an exam, rather than stressed cramming the week before.

Personal Description:
I'm a friendly, experienced, adaptable and patient academic and am looking to tutor in West London.

Are you a secondary school student who just needs that little extra help to get your head around quadratic equations?
An A-level student who really want to aim high and secure that University place with an 'A' grade?
Or a Biology student at University that really need someone to help them get to grips with metabolism?

Whatever your level of knowledge and confidence, I am happy to help! I love teaching and have significant teaching and tutoring experience.

Teaching Experience:

During studying for my A-levels, I tutored maths and biology privately for several GCSE students. This gave me an early insight in how to put new ideas and concepts across in a friendly, comprehensive and easy-to-grasp manner.

During my final year of study in my undergraduate degree, I tutored students in their first year of Biological Sciences.

I have also taught English as a foreign language at Primary school level, which enabled me to hone my presentation skills as well as giving me valuable experience in teaching young children.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the best way to learn new concepts and ideas is to have them presented to you in a relevant, interesting and enjoyable manner. This is something that I have been told many times is one of my strengths. It also helps in developing a rapport with the student, which is vital for maintaining interest, especially in some areas of mathematics and science!

I am also very patient and considerate, and will angle tutoring to highlight your strengths to ensure that confidence levels are always high. This is something I personally believe is vital to continuing your drive to ace that exam!

I will always ensure that what you need to know for your exam is covered in full. We can cover interesting extras if it helps maintain interest, but I will always ensure that all the key points are covered and that you are fully prepared in taking on that exam.

Personal Description:
I'm a young woman of 21 years of age. I'm Luso-British, and I'm fluent and articulate in Portuguese and English, and I have published material in both languages.
I have also drawn since I was very young, and I've been paid for art commissions since I was 15. My grades at all these subjects have always been high, and I can provide official documentation with my results.

Teaching Experience:

I have informally taught schoolmates with English and art throughout the years, since around middle school. I currently help friends to improve their drawing.

Tutoring Approach:

When growing up, whenever nearing a hand-in for art or English class, my peers would always want me to do their work. I refused, and instead, I would walk them to the library and tutor them. They would come to me more and more every year until the end of high school, because I became well known for helping fellow students achieve positive marks, when they would have otherwise flunked.

In teaching English, I noticed that talking tends to work better than just writing, so that is what I do. I pick up what the student already knows, and begin to add things slowly to conversation while explaining, adding new vocabulary and grammar as we go. I also know that giving the student reading material on subjects they are passionate about will boost learning a huge deal. I taught a friend how to read English just from teaching her from her favourite song lyrics and poetry.
The same thing goes for Portuguese.

In art, the first thing I need is for the student to draw a human figure from observation with a time limit. There are many signs that show just what level the person is at. Do they shave the head off, or place the eyes too high in the skull? Or maybe they cannot understand proportions very well? Maybe they just need help on how to think in three dimensions. At a higher level, do they understand the importance of balance in compositions?
And then there's Photoshop. I have a laptop with Photoshop CS2 as well as Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9 installed, and it is perfect to transport and let the student explore and learn under my watch.

I am available at any time, therefor I am very flexible with scheduling. I can tutor at my home or any other location. I also provide snacks, if at my place.
