Personal Description:
I am a former Head of English and Assistant Headteacher in a local secondary school and have a very strong record of raising pupils' attainment. I have worked with all year groups, 7-13 (age 11-18), and have experience working with pupils with special needs, as well as having done lots of work on stretching more able students. English is my passion and it's one I am enthusiastic to share with others. I graduated from Oxford University in 2005 and am currently Senior Examiner at GCSE for one of the major exam boards, so I know what they really want to see! I am also a 'subject expert' in English at Ofqual. I now oversee the training and work of up to 80 examiners so have very significant experience in this area.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a teacher in 2006, having taken my PGCE at Homerton College in Cambridge. Since then I have worked full time at a local school teaching English, although I have now returned to full time study so have better availability for tutoring. I have marked both GCSE English Language and English Literature for OCR and AQA and CIE, and also mark A Level. I am aware my price point is higher than others, but this reflects the years of teaching and direct examining experience which I will bring to your sessions; I believe I am very well placed to help students achieve their potential.

Tutoring Approach:

In consultation with student and parents/carers, we would put together a programme which would be tailored to meet the needs to of the student. I always try to create a relaxed atmosphere, and encourage humour!

Personal Description:
I am 23 years old and I am in my final year at The University of Manchester where I am studying French and Italian. I have spent 6 months in Bologna in Italy, working in a private language school for those wished to learn either Italian or English. I worked as a copywriter for the school website, working in French, Italian and English. I also worked as a conversation tutor to those who wanted to learn English. I am now waiting on my results for a recognised qualification, a C1 CILS exam. In the same year, I lived in Paris for four months where I worked at ELLE, the well known women's fashion magazine, where I used solely French. I am very down to earth and my biggest passion is football, I enjoy a good movie and love a good comedy. If you feel more comfortable meeting in a neutral place, a coffee place or in the town centre that is fine by me. It is flexible. A clean criminal record and can boast a detention-less education!

Teaching Experience:

I now have teaching experience and I have shadowed those who have done this for a job. I have worked voluntarily in a school teaching beginner's Italian. Having already worked as a conversation tutor in a private school, I feel I would excel in giving private lessons, given the chance.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel every student works at their own pace, however it would not take me long to work out an approach which would realise the full potential of the tutee. I am patient and I can sympathise that learning a new language or topic can be frustrating.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I consider it essential to engage the learner by way of providing for a versatile experience. It is crucial to stimulate the learning process by providing several forms of feedback. This takes the form of oral and speaking as well as listening skills feedback during lessons, whilst focusing more on written skills for homework. Reading can be done in either setting, however it is important that both the tutor and learner participate in the process. This approach gives a fairly structured approach to tutoring.

Personal Description:
I have recently completed a PhD in Applied Maths, and wish to use some of my experience of the subject to help other students reach their potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have several years of experience of tutoring undergraduate students in maths at the University of Sheffield. These were mostly Fundamental and 1st year maths courses, at a similar standard to A-level.

Tutoring Approach:

Personal Description:
My name is Carolina, my mother language is Spanish and I am 34 years old. I am a qualified Spanish tutor and I cover both Castilian Spanish and Latin American Spanish. I love languages and being able to teach Spanish is an enriching experience for me and I want to carry on learning other languages myself as it is a totally open door to the world and it is what I like to transmit to each of my students.

Teaching Experience:

I have a wide experience teaching and assisting English teachers and other subjects in my hometown so I know how to give a personal value to each of my students as everyone is different and unique and I am completely conscious of the different teaching methods suitable for individual needs. Teaching and learning a language should be enjoyable and fun, with plenty of opportunities to make and correct mistakes without embarrassment and always with a wide-open window for the communication, which is the base of any language.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe learning a new language is a challenge for anyone and for some people could be easy to comprehend certain things and not so easy other type of things, but when learning the language in a context, where the student is able to see the full picture of the form of the language and be able to explore why its the way it is, is what I strongly believe is the best method of learning. A word on its own does not mean anything in any language, but when you put it on a context, then it takes shape, a nice shaped like a puzzle.

I ground my work in an extensive formation and vivid interest in the History and Theory of Art, and in the Humanities, with a focus on Languages, the Linguistic structures and Literature of my native Italian and English.
I offer private teaching of Art and art related subjects in English or Italian, as well as teaching Italian for speakers of other languages, especially through the exploration of Arts, Literature and culture.

At all levels and specifically tailored for each tutee's needs, interests and characteristics. Can cover: Art, Contemporary Drawing and Painting, Life Drawing, Art Theory, English grammar and conversation for foreigners, Italian grammar, conversation and literature for foreigners, and general studying, writing, reading and speaking skills.

- 5 years of creating and delivering art workshops for children and young adults.
Working with schools, art institutions (recently: Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, Milan, Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridge and Istituto Sacro Cuore Primary School) and with the Arts Awards scheme by Trinity College London. My workshops on learning through imagination have found the support of an Incentive Award to the Art Practice by Brera Academy of Fine Art (2012).

- Adult art teaching, privately and in institutions (The Slade Summer School 2014, 2015 and 2016)

- Art lecturing and presentations include: University of West London UWL, Universitą di Milano Bicocca UnimiB, A-levels Art students from Liceo Artistico Sacro Cuore, The Slade Summer Foundation students, Circuit Cambridge young people programme at Kettle's Yard and Wysing Arts Centre.
