I am a passionate linguist who is a trained teacher with extensive experience both in the classroom and as a tutor. I have a friendly, approachable manner and recognise the need to build confidence in language learners to maximise their success. My experience of living and working in Paris, Peru and Mexico has given me an insight into the cultures and ways of life of the target language countries. I bring this to my students to instill in them an interest and love of language learning.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified teacher of French and Spanish with 2 years experience in the secondary classroom and 3 years experience tutoring and teaching abroad. I have taught English as a foreign language in South America and Sri Lanka. I am fully up to date with current National Curriculum and examination requirements. I am a passionate linguist with the experience and energy required to prepare students to face school and exams with confidence.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to fit in with the needs of my tutees and tailor my resources and focus appropriately. It is essential to address the individual requirements of each student. This will be done through an initial meeting to ascertain targets which will then be followed up in the subsequent teaching sessions. I make tutoring sessions fun and dynamic, enhancing the pupils' learning through the use of information techonology, songs, role plays and games.

"I found your tutorage inspiring and returned with a wealth of knowledge and renewed impetus." - Jon Greenwood.
"I wanted to thank you very much for an excellent course over the last four days, which was extremely professionally conducted, always interesting, and communicated with enthusiasm and good humour". - Robert Park

"Thanks for the course - although it was tiring it was also enjoyable (I like your sense of humour). I thought the course was good with the alternating of the three different types of activity." - Debbie Goodkin.

Tutoring Approach:

My philosophy is that anyone can learn if they have a willing spirit and a patient teacher.

To develop an appropriate training program I first determine the needs of the student and work out short and long term goals. I use a variety of training methods, including demonstration, practice, memorization, and assessment.

Personal Description:
I'm a wife and mother of two daughters and I work in education. I can't say what age group I prefer working with as I just love the process of facilitating the learning of others and seeing them 'get it' - the light bulb moment! I've been there myself and it's great to see others have the same experience.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in schools for the past 11 years in a number of roles. I am a trained Primary teacher with a specialism in Spanish. I worked for a year as a supply teacher with classes from Year 1 to Year 6. In secondary schools I have provided a wide and varied support role for English and Modern Foreign Language faculties. I worked for a year as a Cover Supervisor and currently I work in a successful girls' secondary school as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. I support students across the whole curriculum. As well as a classroom based role, I assist the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator at the school and so I have a special interest working with young people with special educational needs and also children with English as an additional language. I am confident in supporting learners from Key Stage 1 through to GCSE in most subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to vary my approach to tutoring depending upon the needs of the tutee and their preferred learning style. I feel it is important that the learner has the opportunity to take ownership of the learning experience, though some need more guidance than others. I like to encourage learners so that they realise that they are capable of so much more than they originally thought possible. I mentor GCSE students at my school and find that young people in particular may have problems self-esteem and this hinders their learning, particularly in a group setting. Working one to one gives students that little bit of breathing space they need to work through their problems without having to feel self-conscious - then they can feel more confident and flourish when they go back into the classroom.

Personal Description:
Hello, I am in my forties and I live in Worthing. I specialise in teaching English as a foreign language. I welcome teaching both individuals and small groups with everyday, educational or business English.

I enjoy travelling, meeting new people and learning about other countries. I have just returned from teaching English in Japan for four years, which I loved.

I also have experience working in both education and business in the UK. I was a primary school teacher for eight years and worked in insurance for 11 years.

Teaching Experience:

-I taught Keys Stage 1 and 2 for eight years in an East London primary school. The majority of which did not speak English regularly at home.
-I carried out training on technical insurance issues as part of my job with the insurance company.
-I taught English in two of Japan's well known English conversation schools (ECC and AEON). I worked with students ages ranging from 18 months to 70+ at all levels from beginner to advanced. I also did some work in a few Japanese kindergartens and some summer relief work in a local Worthing language school (CES).

Tutoring Approach:

I like lessons to be fun and the students to feel relaxed. The needs of the students comes first as everyone is different.

After an initial assessment ,I agree with the tutee a lesson progress plan. The lessons will have a clear goal and will relate to real life wherever possible.

Please note that all lessons with children should be at their home with a responsible adult present or available.

Personal Description:
I have been playing guitar for 17 years, ever since my Dad unexpectedly presented me with an acoustic guitar one Christmas. I've never looked back, and in the intervening years I've also picked up bass, drums and piano. In 2002 during my summer holidays from University I attended a 10 week full time course at the Guitar Institute in London.

I have played with a number of bands throughout my musical career. I am currently actively involved in two bands and we have been fortunate enough to play to audiences across the UK and in Europe, with gigs in Germany, Austria, Portugal, Italy and Norway. I have also played in Musical Theatre productions such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Fame and Footloose.

Teaching Experience:

I am very happy teaching any age and level of student from complete beginners to experienced players.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach acoustic and electric guitar, covering rock, pop, indie, blues, soul, funk, metal and folk. However, more importantly than any specific style, I teach how to approach, practice and learn music in general. These disciplines can be applied to any style.

I ensure my students get a thorough understanding of the technical and theoretical aspects of playing guitar. However, I use real pieces of music to reinforce and practice these elements so that they are fun to play and do not become dry and repetitive.

I can support students working towards grade exams if required. However, this is not obligatory and it is entirely possible to become an excellent guitarist without taking grades. The grade boards I'm most familiar with are Rockschool and Trinity Rock & Pop.

Personal Description:
I am currently a second year student at the University of Bath, studying for a Masters in Aerospace Engineering. I have achieved great academic results at A-Level from Wallingford Sixth Form.

I do a lot of sport, such as squash, kickboxing and cycling, and I am also musical, playing acoustic and electric guitar.

I should be available for tutoring during term time, but due to the workload of my course, some weeks I will be unavailable.

Teaching Experience:

I have limited experience in tutoring but i have helped course mates frequently when they do not understand the curriculum or haven`t understood the method that the lecturer uses. I tend to find that changing the technique of teaching a subject allows you to understand it better.

I also helped friends and family who are studying A-levels in maths, further maths and physics.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm very patient with tutees and take the time to make sure they learn the topic subject thoroughly. As I said before, I tend to vary my methods of teaching if the tutee doesn't understand how i'm teaching it. I also think it is a better learning environment if the session has a specific plan in mind but is informal enough to allow the tutee to query anything that they don't fully understand.

Personal Description:
I am Spanish teacher living in London. I am really friendly, responsible and I will always love to learn as many languages as possible.

Teaching Experience:

I studied a degree on Translation and Interpreting so I have a good English and French. Two years ago, I ended my MA degree on Spanish language and culture which is mainly focused on teaching Spanish as a foreign language.

I have been an English assistant teacher in two Summer Camps for 4 to 6 year old children and also taught Spanish as a foreign language to Erasmus students coming to the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
I have also been personal tutor of many children between 5 and 15 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I really try to focus on a Communicative Method, I make sure grammar is learned but I do not focus on showing grammar as a separate subject which has to be learned by hard. I try to show real texts (news articles, stories, tales, etc) and once you are able to understand the vocabulary, you will notice how is grammar used in different contexts.
There is no sense of teaching a language without a real context, I try to avoid inventing sentences which have no meaning at all.

In case you wish to try different approaches, I have no inconvenience on adapting it to what you really want to do.

Personal Description:
I am a translator and language tutor with many years of experience. Russian and Latvian are my native languages. I have studied Italian and Chinese in Italy (Ca`Foscari University of Venice, University of Turin) and Chinese, English and Spanish at the University of Latvia.

I was born and raised in Latvia where I attended the University of Latvia and started my teaching and translating career. Afterwards I moved to Italy (Puglia, Veneto, Piedmont) where I lived for the past five years before moving to the UK and learned not only Italian language (and some regional dialects) but also a lot about Italian culture and people (having lived with an Italian family and having an Italian husband).

Teaching Experience:

I have taught languages for over five years now and all my students were very satisfied with the results. There is no age limit to learning a language, my youngest student was only three and the oldest was over sixty.

Tutoring Approach:

Each of my students is special and I try to adapt my teaching technique according to what every single person wants to accomplish by the end of the course.

If you are passionate about a language and would like to learn not only the grammar but also the spoken language as well and to learn more about the culture of the country then do not hesitate to contact me.

I offer Russian, English, Latvian and Italian lessons. Each lesson lasts 45 min during which we will study grammar, do exercises, watch and analyze video and audio material and practice spoken language. I provide all the study materials, including audio files with new vocabulary.

I offer a trial lesson (50% discount) after which you can decide if you would like to continue learning a language with my help.

As I value your time as much as I do mine, please, read carefully the following lesson cancellation policy:
- if a lesson is cancelled by the student at least with a 24h notice there will be no charges involved;
- if the lesson has not been cancelled or if I am notified only hours before the scheduled lesson time, I am sorry, but I will have to charge for that time;
- if the student does not show up for the scheduled lesson I will wait for 15 min, if during that time the student does show up the lesson will end on time and will not be prolonged (if the student does not show up, after 15 min my Skype account will be offline).

Thank you for understanding!
