Personal Description:
I am a mature professional, originally from Yorkshire. I hold a current enhanced CRB check and have spent most of my life working with children and young people. Most of my work has involved teaching pupils with special educational needs. At present I work part-time as a teacher in a hospital school with students 5-19yrs. I am highly qualified in teaching. In addition to a Bachelor of Education degree with honours, I hold an MA in the Psychology of Education, and diplomas in the teaching of reading (literacy and literature) and in Counselling. I also have a certificate in TEFL My work with children has not been restricted to teaching - I have worked as a Youth and Community worker, as a Counsellor and as a Child Protection Officer. My hobbies include drama, dance and choral singing.

Teaching Experience:

I trained as a teacher of infants but I have worked as a teacher of all ages and abilities. The majority of my teaching has involved pupils who experience a variety of special educational needs - social, emotional and behaviour difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, dyslexia, medical and mental health difficulties. I have also taught in secure accommodation. My teaching is effective - my work as a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator in a large primary school in South London received a very good Ofsted report because the pupils with special educational needs made good progress - better progress than pupils in the school who did not have special needs! I am also on the Upper Pay Scale for teachers who have proved to government that their teaching interventions make a difference to pupil attainment.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a great deal of experience as a teacher of individuals and small groups in school and many years experience of private tutoring. My success comes from teaching each person, adult or child as a unique individual. I am popular with my students because I endeavour to make learning fun whilst retaining high expectations of effort and success, being patient, firm but fair. My fee reflects my knowledge, skill and experience. I integrate my tutoring with the tutees school syllabus and approach, increasing motivation with encouragement, challenge and the introduction of new knowledge in carefully paced steps. I begin with a thorough assessment of a student's strengths and weaknesses at my base where I have assessment materials for all ages. My fee is payable for this session when clients can examine my CRB check, qualifications and we can discuss mutual availability (times) and location.

Personal Description:
I graduated from Cambridge with a geography degree (2.1) in 2010. Since then I have worked as a Parliamentary Intern for the Campaign to Protect Rural England's national office, worked freelance for an Environmental Consultant, and home-schooled an 11 year old. I have completed the law conversion course (GDL) in London and am now doing the Legal Practitioner's Course (LPC) ahead of working for a Parliamentary and public sector focused solicitor's firm from August 2013.

Outside of my work and studies I am a keen sports player and love to travel. I play squash and tennis, and used to play lacrosse for Cambridge. I ski sporadically, and enjoy walking in the countryside (followed by pub lunches). I travelled to Hyderabad, India to undertake the research for my undergraduate dissertation (on return migration), spent 6 months in Central America teaching English and travelling before going to university, and organised a trip across South East Asia in 2008.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching English to Mexican school children for 5 months in 2007 (ages 3-18)

Geography Ambassador for the Royal Geographical Society - workshops and talks with students re continuing geography to A Level and/or University

Informal tutoring/advice for Oxbridge applications

Tutored a politics student ahead of her AS exams in 2011. She was predicted a D, and ended up with an A in one paper and B in the other, resulting in a B overall. (May - June '11)

Home-schooled an 11-year old every morning for a term. We focused on Maths and English, but other subjects were also explored at times (e.g. history, geography, science and even politics as her interests dictated) (May - July '11). I have continued to work with the family (in the UK and the US), helping the three children after school with things such as the school run, homework supervision, and games.

Tutored a different politics student for her AS retake (AQA Governing Modern Britain) in January 2012. She went from a D to a B (Nov '11- Jan '12)

Tutored various students in Geography and Politics AS for the January modules and retakes (Nov 2012 - Jan 2013). One got 100/100!

Ran mock interviews and general geography sessions for a student with a Cambridge geography interview (Dec 2012). She has since told me she got a place to study there.

Currently tutoring AS geography for both the AQA and Edexcel board.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel engagement with the subject matter is the most important aspect to learning, and therefore my tutoring is always interactive. Learning through abstract concepts can be alienating, and therefore I ensure that the material covered is understood through means such as analogies to relatable situations/issues/concepts. I am diligent in planning for the lessons, and make sure that I understand in advance the specific areas that the tutee wants/needs to focus on.

Personal Description:
I am a political enthusiast who has spent the last few years building up a successful department in a secondary school to impart this enthusiasm to students from a region where political apathy is rife. I am a keen cyclist and traveller and enjoy the occasional healthy debate on a variety of topical issues.
I graduated from Birmingham University's School of Education with a PGCE (Med level) in History and Citizenship following on from my previous qualifications; Master of Arts in Global Politics and Human rights Law and Bachelor of Arts In International Relations and Law (LLB). In addition I have A-levels in English Literature, Maths, Physics and General Studies. Although these are not my specialist subjects, I would be willing and able to offer additional support in these areas if applicable.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently the Head of Faculty for Humanities at a secondary school in the West Midlands. I have seven years teaching experience as well as four years experience tutoring students, including one-to-one sessions, in Politics, Law, History and English as a foreign language. I teach all age groups with a focus on GCSE and A-Level Studies. In my tenure as Head of Political Studies my students have achieved 100% pass rate at A-Level and AS and all students have met or surpassed their target grades.
Within my role I have built up links with local MPs and MEPs and this has led to the successful running of annual Parliament visits and four visits to the European Union Parliament in both Strasbourg and Brussels. In addition I have twice led a debating team of students in the international EUROSCOLA event held at the European Parliament where students debate a variety of issues against over 600 students from the other EU member states.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in a fresh approach to tutoring, using a variety of teaching methods and resources tailored for the individual learning styles of the tutee. Videos, newspapers, past exam papers and a library of resources allow for a holistic approach in delivering specialist subject knowledge. I use contemporary case studies and a high level of ICT literacy to make learning both interesting and accessible. In addition, my working knowledge of the major exam boards means that all sessions will be customised for maximum benefit in any given tuition agreement. I am happy to teach across all age groups and abilities and have experience of working with vulnerable/hard to reach children, and those with special educational needs.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Personal Description:
I will be available as from the 12th of July, however I am happy to take bookings beforehand.

I am an undergraduate engineer at Cambridge University with two years of tutoring experience. I have tutored students ranging from Degree level to G.C.S.E.

I can also Teach all pure A level mathematics modules, including all further mathematics, all mechanical mathematics modules, and all A level physics modules.

I can also Teach all A level mathematics modules, including all further mathematics, and all A level physics modules.

My main engineering interests are Vibrations, Dynamics and incompressible fluid flow.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring on both a private and voluntary basis for two years with the level ranging from Degree to G.C.S.E.

Tutoring Approach:

This depends on the requirements of the student, generally improving a persons skills is a lot different than preparing them for an exam. As every person has a different way of learning I will talk to the student at the start of the program and try and work out a personalised approach that will work best for them. However if the overall goal is to pass an exam than past papers will be essential, these will need to be completed out of hours and will also be marked out of hours. This will allow us to get the most out of the time, the scripts will be given back to the student with written advice attached and discussed where necessary.

Whatever approach is taken I can guarantee that I will be infinitely patient through out, as the most important thing is the student leaves having a good understanding of the concepts and this can only be achieved at the students own pace.

Personal Description:
I enjoy helping adults of all ages achieve their goals and my students have a 100% record of achieving the English language level they have required to gain a place on the higher education course of their choice. In 2012 I have already helped a student achieve the IELTS level required for his place on a Masters course at Sussex University and another student achieve the IELTS level for a Business degree course at Brighton University. I have also helped other students to find the most suitable course for them and supported their application.

Aside from teaching the more advanced students, I am equally enthusiastic in tutoring adults who are beginners to English and have helped them feel more secure in speaking in their workplace or socially, together with preparing CVs and job applications.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English for thirty years. My teaching had been in both state schools and private language schools before I became a home tutor. I have taught students of all ages from 12yrs old to 70yrs old, but now I focus exclusively on adults. I have held senior educational posts with responsiblity for teaching and learning and have trained other teachers.

My students come from all around the world and I currently have students from Italy, Spain, Poland, Hungary, Turkey, Japan and Germany. Most of my students are UK residents, although I also have students visiting from overseas.

Tutoring Approach:

It is important for me to establish at the beginning exactly what a tutee wants to achieve in my lessons and why. Once I have this information I plan lessons that will meet their aspirations. I work closely with tutees throughout their time with me so that they understand the purpose of each lesson and have a sense of progression. I teach using a variety of resouces and always attempt to make lessons as individual and relevant to each tutee as possible. I have a good sense of humour and like my student to enjoy lessons as well as working hard.

I understand the pressures and difficulties of life and am as flexible as possible if lessons have to be moved or rearranged.

Personal Description:
I am a Spanish native experienced tutor - I have prepared students from many schools and they have successfully achieved top marks ! I enjoy teaching and I am patient, flexible and I try to make the lessons interesting so the students not only learn but also enjoy their time learning a foreign language. I am fluent in Italian and Portuguese and have A-level in French and GCSE level in German. My degree from university was a BSC in Economics so I also love maths !

Teaching Experience:

Over 15 years teaching Spanish - mostly gcse and A level exams - but have also prepared students from different universities and have helped English native teachers to prepare themselves to teach Spanish at different secondary schools ! I can offer support all year on a regular basis and can also help with intensive or crash courses near the time of exams.
I have taught groups as well and have worked in the past for agencies that have clients that needed Spanish for business (Like British Airways before merging with Iberia).
I have also worked for different nursery teaching kids and obviously have a clean CRB required to teach kids !
I have run after school clubs in Madrid - teaching English and also have experience as a one to one maths tutor helping children from primary schools up to GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach:

I am flexible and patient. I like to see progress and be effective and also give my hundred percent to make it enjoyable - My previous students can give references and will be pleased to tell others of their top marks ! I have plenty of experience tutoring mainly spanish, but also english as a foreign language and maths.

Personal Description:
I'm married with three children, currently in their late teens and early twenties, and with my wife have gone through the parental anguish of public and university exams every year since 2006 and will potentially do so until 2017!

I'm a professionally qualified accountant with an honours mathematics degree and a postgraduate certificate in education. I've had a career working in local government finance, supporting managers in managing their service budgets. I have particular interest in the relevant computer applications (e.g. spreadsheets), financial training and quality issues.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching practice at a Reading school.
Written and presented well-received financial training materials.
I've supported service managers with often limited numeracy ability to manage multi-million pound budgets.
While only one of my three children has a natural leaning towards scientific subjects, they got A, A* & B at Maths GCSE (fairly light-touch parental support, rather than any intensive tutoring).

Tutoring Approach:

While always mindful of the immediate goal to pass exams and "get the grades", I endeavour to instill real understanding of the subject. While it would be great to hear I've helped turn a C into an A, I'd just as much hear that someone no longer fears or hates maths lessons.

Apart from Maths tutoring I can offer:

Excel Spreadsheet Support:
One-to-one sessions tailored to your needs, to learn new functions, pick up tips and good spreadsheet practice, problem solve on your current spreadsheets or help you build new practical spreadsheets.

IT Basics - Got a computer and haven't got a child at hand to help you; then maybe I can help. I'm no computer geek, but over the years I've learnt to solve most problems thrown up by my machines at home and at work and have used them in a variety of practical ways. I can perhaps show you that you are capable of more than a few emails and web browsing on your machine. I can help take the fear out of that unattractive box and its tangle of cables.

Financial management for non-accountants: Are you one of those people given the responsibility to manage a budget at work, but feel you are lacking a bit of confidence and some of the skills to do it properly? Did you leave mathematics behind at school and feel it hasn't quite prepared you for this? I can hopefully help you build confidence in your own abilities and show that a bit of calculator common sense or spreadsheet savvy is not beyond you.

Personal Description:
I am currently a second year Civil Engineering student at Imperial College London. Having studied through all levels of school I can appreciate how useful having a source of targeted teaching is, this is the service I hope to provide. Having participated in youth organisations and group bursary projects I have had the opportunity to work with people from many different backgrounds and cultures, this allows me to tailor to individuals. I am a STEMNET ambassador for which I volunteer in various schools and teach pupils how to apply classroom knowledge to real world scenarios. I play hockey in my spare time as well as recreationally painting to focus my time on activities outside of work.

Teaching Experience:

Currently I am enrolled in a "Mum's & Dad's" scheme in university, for which I am assigned three first year students to whom I am a mentor, helping them with work issues or general university issues.
During my time at secondary school and sixth form, I worked in sessions with younger students during which time we would cover material which they were struggling with.
Participated in a youth organisation, BSS Shaka, for which in my role as a senior member would organise and run weekly workshops which focused upon cultural learning as well as sporting activities.

Tutoring Approach:

Methods for teaching are subject to the individual therefore I strive to find a method which worst best for both parties. Aside from teaching the core syllabus I also would like to know what you struggle with such that more emphasis can be put upon that. I prefer to set up a dialog with my students such that the teaching is more interactive. I will prepare a lesson plan, and set students questions to work on between sessions; anything which they are unsure of can be covered in the next session.

I completed my masters dissertation on the teaching methods available to gifted students. Between 2010-2012, I taught at an English secondary school, and was repeatedly graded as outstanding by OFSTED. I was also a housemistress.

Between 2012-2013, I completed the BCL at Oxford University. I graduated with a merit, with a distinction in my Medical law module. During this time, I was employed as a private tutor through Greene's tutorial college, and was able to bring several C students up to A* or A in time for either their GCSE or A Level exams.

Since October 2013, I have been studying for the BPTC. Whilst completing this course, I have been employed by both University College London and St Hilda's College, Oxford. I taught first year Criminal law at Oxford and I taught first year Criminal law and third year Evidence law at UCL.

Tutoring Approach:

I have experience teaching a range of ages and abilities, and believe in tailoring my teaching to match my student. I also believe in having clearly structured and well planned tutorials. In order to achieve this, I use multi-media, especially power-points, which I prepare and supply in advance. This ensures that the student can fully prepare and understands the purpose and goals of each tutorial. It also ensures that students have a record of the work they have completed, which they can use as revision or to support their subsequent learning.

I also aim to have a range of tasks that complement the student's level, interest and learning style. This method avoids repetition and boredom during the tutorial. These tasks often rely on the modelling approach, which involves demonstration by the tutor, followed by repetition by the student, along with discussion points throughout.

Personal Description:
I recently graduated with a Masters in Physics at the University of Exeter. I love my subject and it is a great privilege that I get to teach it. In the rest of my time I like to get involved with charity work and this year the other half of my week will be spent interning with an international development organisation in Teddington.

I'm very friendly and approachable - please message me if you have any questions.

Teaching Experience:

I've experience tutoring students at a variety of levels. Before I began tutoring, I volunteered in lower set maths classes and in GCSE Maths after school preparation classes. I've also worked with young people in youth clubs and spent two months as a senior counsellor at a camp in Pennsylvania.

Tutoring Approach:

It's important ensure a solid understanding of the basic concepts. Establishing key areas where the student feels confident creates a good foundation on which to build. Students need to be actively engaged in their learning so I will always give them space and guidance to work out the answer for themselves.
