Personal Description:
Hello,
I`ve been tutoring Mathematics at all levels since 1996. Have an outstanding record of getting students top grades. I encourage a hard work ethic and discipline.

For A'level and GSCE students, material is taught as per their exam board requires, with plently of emphasis on the importance of past paper revision.

For younger children I specialise in Vendic Mathematics, subtraction via addition, estimate and adjust, etc. As well as applying the story book method to assist a childs memory techniques.

All students are taught about goal setting principles, motivating themselves and not settling for real and achievable standards.

Teaching Experience:

Have been teaching one-to-one since 1996. Software Engineer by trade.

Tutoring Approach:

Secret to my teaching style is to deliver the subject in a manner that appeals to the student.
Using examples that are relavent to the student's interest are key to understanding.

Personal Description:
I am a 26 year old Mathematics Graduate, recently working as a Statistican, living in Castleford, West Yorkshire. I believe learning is one of the most important parts of life and I thoroughly enjoy tutoring others and helping them with their learning. I am confident in tutoring my chosen subject of Mathematics and aim to improve others Mathematics skills.

Teaching Experience:

I believe I can help those struggling with Mathematics work of any kind and enjoy being given the opportunity to do so. I have over 7 years of tutoring experience, beginning with tutoring a 7 year old Key Stage 2 skills until she was 10 years old whilst at University. I then spent a year full time as a personal tutor - teaching students from 10 years of age to Adult and continue to tutor outside of my main job. Levels I have taught at are; Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, GCSE, AS and A2 Level, University level and Adult Math courses. I mainly focus on GCSE and A Level (Core and Statistics). I have learnt to adapt my teaching methods to the individual and have a wide range of experience with different abilities.

In my last term at University, I chose to undertake a module entitled 'Mathematics in the Classroom' where I began observing two teachers and ended up teaching Statistic to an A-level class of Mathematics students. This experience developed my confidence in teaching and I learnt a great deal about how to communicate Mathematics to a group of students.

In previous years, I have volunteered in related areas: working with special needs children (aged 3 - 18), working with groups of children in after school hours (aged 5 - 11); Funfishers, and spent time in primary schools helping out wherever.

Tutoring Approach:

I set all my students homework to be completed by our next lesson as keeping up with Mathematics is all about putting in the practice of what is learnt in the lesson. Progress is made with all my students and their confidence regarding Mathematics has greatly improved. I aim to set targets for the student to achieve by the following lesson and concentrate on where the student struggles.

I like to encourage my students to ask questions if curious/unsure to aid their understanding as well as asking my students questions to ensure they are thinking about the subject and to check their understanding. I aim to pass on my knowledge and confidence in the Mathematical area.

Personal Description:
I am Matt, I've a Bsc(Hons)(1st), Cphys ,majoring Physics,Mathematics and Chemistry. Currently I am doing a PhD in Quantum Physics . I am very enthusiastic about teaching . its kind of a hobby of mine and its my ultimate passion. I believe I have enough qualifications and experience to be your tutor. As a human being I think I have enough patience and good sense of humor. and I am a good listener (*IF YOU WANT REFERENCES ARE AVAILABLE FROM MY STUDENTS). I have many hobbies and interests some of them are, Teaching, Yoga, Meditation, Music, Traveling, Swimming, Archery, Kick boxing, Quantum Entanglement, Quantum Teleportation, BioPhysics, Epigenetics, building Power Amplifiers ,Telekinesis, Linux, Unix, C programming, General Relativity,.. etc. My First lesson would be free of charge.

Teaching Experience:

I've started teaching in 2005. Since then I have taught many students from different backgrounds with different abilities. and taught at different levels (up to undergraduate level, for many examination boards, AQA, EDEXEL,OCR, MEI, IB, JEB,CIE, IGCSE, etc. including home schooling students.) I think so far I have given my best to my students to reach their academic goals. I hope to do the same in the future. (*If you want References are available from my students)

Tutoring Approach:

I believe each student is unique. and as a tutor I respect that uniqueness .Basically my first step towards a new student would be, to understand his/her uniqueness , hence find the student's weakness and strengths . so I would be able to help the student to overcome his/her weakness and strengthen pupil's current knowledge.

I may use different styles of teaching methods, depending on the student's ability and attitude. My main method is "student first" method. That is, I would first listen to the student what he/she got to say about a particular problem. and then I would guide the student to work through that problem and come to the correct solution ( here the student will be actively involve in solving the problem than just listening to the tutor) . More often I would use everyday life experiences to explain what I teach. and I may use reductionism method . i.e. breaking down a large problem to small parts when its appropriate . This method can be very efficient dealing with problems in maths, physics and chemistry.

I have learnt through my tutoring experience, the main reasons why students achieve lower grades. they are...

*Lack of Knowledge and Understanding in fundamentals ,
*Lack of right practice ( Including Exam practice),
*Lack of time management skills in exam situations,
*Lack of knowledge and practice to recognize the keywords/key sentences in exam questions
*Lack of proper Writing Skills,
*Above factors would lead to Lower SELF CONFIDENCE
So I would put lot of emphasis on the above factors in my tutoring practice to give the maximum opportunity to my students to attain better grades.

Whatever approach I may use to teach , I will be always friendly and I will always be willing to help the student to overcome her/his weaknesses and sharpen the current knowledge.

Personal Description:
Hi, I have always had a love for languages and would love to instil you with the same enthusiasm. After having lived abroad as part of my degree, I then graduated with a BA Hons Degree Class 2.1 in Modern Languages (German, French and Italian), after which I obtained my Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). After teaching, I also worked for International companies, using my languages extensively by liaising with customers and colleagues overseas and also translating and interpreting. I have always kept my languages fresh by reading foreign literature and keeping in touch with German / French friends. I am mother to 4 children, but even after my children were born, I continued to do some freelance translation. As a mother and as a teacher, I know the importance of patience and how important it is to make learning worthwhile, enjoyable and fun!

Teaching Experience:

After qualifying as a Languages teacher, I have taught German and French in a Comprehensive School to the 11-18 age group. I have tutored teenagers and adults privately in both German and French. I have also provided French classes in one of the International companies I worked for.

Tutoring Approach:

I can offer a learning program which is specifically tailored to suit the individuals needs, whatever the level of knowledge or ability. If required, lessons can be adapted to focus on specific areas such as grammar or conversation practice. My experience in using languages in a business setting also means that I am also well placed to teach lanuages to adults for business purposes. I am a perfectionist and will strive to offer the best tuition possible, by thorough preparation and the use of a variety of learning materials and approaches. If required homework can be set to consolidate knowledge learnt. I want your learning to be productive and engaging. It can open a window into foreign culture and soon you will realise how much fun it is to be able to communicate in another language.

Personal Description:
I am a 20 year old, third year student at the University of Leeds where I study French and Spanish. As my educational record shows, I am very hardworking. I also pride myself on being friendly, patient and logical. I completed a term abroad in Granada where I took an intensive Spanish language course. There I acquired a level C1/2 according to the European framework of reference for languages, the highest possible, and received 9/10. I have just come back from my year abroad in Versailles where I was British Council Language Assistant. I am now fluent in both French and Spanish.

Teaching Experience:

I undertook a seven month teaching placement in Versailles, France (October 2013 - April 2014), where I taught English as a Foreign Language in two Secondary Schools. I have also given private lessons since 2012, as well as teaching private English lessons in France. One girl I taught increased her grade from a B to an A* in her French GCSE oral. I assisted language classes at my school between 2009 and 2011 for years 7 - 11.

Tutoring Approach:

My approaches are various. Having completed my A levels and GCSEs relatively recently, exam technique is still fresh in my mind and I hope to be able to teach students how exams work as (a bit unfortunately) this is very important these days. However I am a strong advocate of instilling the foundations of language, namely grammar and vocabulary, as this is how I learnt best and how you can understand a language. I also believe in immersing yourself as much as possible, for those who are serious about learning a language - by watching films, TV programmes, reading books and writing. Practice is vital if one is to achieve a high level and there can be no short cuts. I am also happy to work through topics in a textbooks and helping with exercises as, as mentioned earlier, practice really does make perfect.

Of course, lessons will be tailored to individual needs, and they can be as formal or informal as one likes: from straight grammar to half an hour of chatting for those who aren't learning a language for an exam, for example.

Personal Description:
I am a 3rd year medical student studying at imperial college london. I have obtained academic distinction in both 1st and 2nd year examination, therefore I believe I have an effective method of learning with which I can help the students.

I am very passionate about teaching as I believe with the right method, students would be able to reach their potential. Different students have different ways of optimised learning, it is both challenging and rewarding to explore the best way of learning for them, and that's where the fun of teaching lies for me.

Having experienced GCSE/Alevel and now in university, I feel that there are various learning habits developed during my GCSE/Alevel years which if not corrected, could hinder an effective learning later on in university; namely, the rigid way of cramming hard facts and not truly absorbing the essence of it. Therefore, I feel strongly about guiding the students onto the correct learning habits which could benefit them not just for exam in the short term, but for life-long learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have experiences tutoring lower-year students during GCSE and Alevel.
I am also tutoring year 1 & 2 medical students on background science and clinical medicine.
I have also participated as a tutor in teaching days organised by imperial college medical school directed at GCSE & A level students with the aim of introducing them to medicine and human physiology.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in a focused teaching approach where key learning points should be emphasized, students would be taught independent problem-solving, that is, applying learnt principles to a variety of different problems. Memorising methods are important for learning hard facts, but helping the students to truly understand and explore the principles is the central focus.
Even though the essence of teaching is the same, there's differences in how we should approach different subjects.

mathematics:
There's two key points to learning maths; a thorough understanding of key principles, and a flexible mind when approaching mathematical problems. The students should be shown how the principles are derived within reasonably simple-level scope, as not understanding how and why the principles are derived could lead to rigid way of mathematical thinking, which then leads to the students unable to solve those problems with a twist to them. A flexible mind not only comes with adequate understanding of the key teaching points, but also comes with guided practice. I would encourage the students to tackle a variety of mathematical problem based on the principle, with an increasing degree of difficulty, as it is important to teach the students not to be afraid of difficult and challenging questions. With a systematic approach, difficult problems becomes self-evidently easy.

Science (biology, chemistry, physics)
For GCSE/A-LEVEL, because of the learning is relatively basic in comparison to the higher education, there's many new concepts introduced which could be hard to get their head around to. Especially when it is often the case that a conclusion is given to the students as a hard fact for them to memorise, but nothing is explained in term of how such conclusion is reached. In such case, I am aiming to explain the basis behind various mechanism in the simplest language with plenty of analogies so to allow the students to have the whole picture, this I find actually improve on their long-term memory of the hard facts.
Real-life application is another way of encouraging their interest in the subject, as well as their desire to learn more about the natural mechanics that governs our biological, physical and chemical system, by making the link, and seeing the application, can they truly appreciate the relevance of learning science.

Mandarin
When it comes to teaching language, the key is to provide a native environment, and encourage as much communication and practice with them as possible. Since a large amount of the work lies on memorisation, it could be quite dull for the student, therefore, I am using a variety of teaching tools (graphical, presentation, discussion, games and role-play) to makes it interesting and fun for the students, it would also help to establish a sense of acheivement quite early on in language learning.

Personal Description:
My name is Ana, I am a native spanish speaker. I am a graduate in Fine Art from Spain, after that I did a Master in Teaching, which has been recognise for the Qualified Teacher Status from the Teaching Agency.
Then wanting to continue in the education field, I decided to realize a Master in Research in visual art practices (MPhil), which is necessary for to access to a PHD. Then in 2012 I started with my PhD, which I continue researching in this theme.
In 2012 I undertook a PhD and decided to move to England to improve my English while I develop mi PhD a distance with my home university - University Castilla La Mancha (CLM), Spain.

Teaching Experience:

My training for teacher (in Spain) was in the high-school: José María Cruz Novillo (Cuenca, Spain). Where I imparted class of art.
When I finished my teaching Master and training, I was studying during a year for a public examination teacher (essential in Spain for to work in education). It consisting in to do a theorist exam and a public presentation of your methodology, processes, technical and contents that you will do in a real specific course, during a year (one course). Later I have worked as an art teacher developing different workshops and educational activities for children in several charities in my hometown.During my spare time, I have also been volunteering with a charity in Newcastle called Kids Kabin, which runs creative activities for 8-13 years olds.

Tutoring Approach:

My interest in teaching and share my knowledge inspired me to start my career in the education sector. Although I have, so far, had little teaching experience I feel that I am confident enough in both subjects to tutor the ages I have specified. I adapt my lessons to student's needs and interests.
