| Personal Description: I am a young, energetic, motivated person with a solid background and experience in the financial sector backed with high academic qualifications. Amongst which there are: 1. MSc in Marketing - Business School - University of Glamorgan (Wales). My dissertation resulted in a paper on which I was a named contributor. 2. DipM (Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing (CIM) 3. A'Levels in Accounting and English 4. CIB (Chartered Institute of Bankers Certificate) - The subjects covered accounting, law, economics, customer services, management and operation related to financial services. Apart from my position in the financial sector, I have given private tuition to a ten year old boy who got easily distracted during classroom. Adapting to his needs and working at his own pace, I have developed techniques to help him understand and master the material. I have used multi-sensory practices to encourage active learning involving him to make sense by seeing, saying, hearing and doing as he learns. Teaching study skills such as asking questions, note taking, summarising, time management and listening and reading skills helped him to identify learning methods that worked for him. |
Teaching Experience: I have given private lessons to a ten year old boy who attended a well established school who easily got distracted during lessons. I have adapted my teaching approach for his needs, worked at his own pace together with using different teaching methods such as images, drawings, visual, and audio amongst other. These techniques resulted to be highly efficient as he got excellent grads both for his half yearly and annual exams. |
Tutoring Approach: My teaching approach goes beyond the traditional way of methods using different techniques. My tutoring is student-centred where I adapt a consistent approach to meet their needs and demand while listening and responding to their ideas and questions. I develop rapport and relationship with the students to inspire them to learn more and make it a delightful learning experience every time we meet. |

| Personal Description: I was a Kitchener Scholar at the University of Cambridge, where I read Law at Trinity College, and was awarded the Philpott Prize, and I took a second degree with the Open University, where I read Mathematics and Physics and won the Leslie Walshaw award for being the highest scoring student in Yorkshire, with an average examination score of 100%. |
Teaching Experience: I have been teaching for 17 years, at top-ranking schools in both the UK and USA, including Charterhouse in Surrey and Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire. I have been an examiner for all of the major examining bodies. I have an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate obtained through City of York Council, which means that I have been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau. I was formerly a governor of a top-performing specialist Maths and Computing comprehensive school in York, where I set up and ran the maths club. |
Tutoring Approach: I am passionate about mathematics and love teaching it. While I understand that students and their parents are usually looking for a tutor to improve their grades (and my students do get high grades) I also believe it's important to concentrate on understanding as well as learning. Exam success is greatly helped by understanding where the mathematics comes from and how it is used. My style is to make the subject as simple and as enjoyable as possible. |

| Personal Description: I believe that learning a language can enrich your life and should be done in a fun and interesting way. My parents encouraged me to travel from a young age and I suppose I developed an 'ear' for languages through being made to ask for ice-creams and make friends with local kids! I also learned French and German at school and then went on an intensive course in Florence to learn Italian - then went on to study both German and Italian at the University of Reading. I live in Chelmsford with my husband. |
Teaching Experience: I have experience teaching German and Italian up to A level standard in comprehensive schools and as a private tutor. I have also used German working in the private sector as a media analyst. |
Tutoring Approach: My current job is 'specialist teacher for children with physical and neurological impairments', a job I love but I am missing my languages! Being able to tutor someone else would therefore also be an enjoyable experience for me. I hope that all my experiences in life and as a teacher have made me a patient and empathetic person who can work with a range of different people from any background and of any age. I can be guided by what a client is hoping to achieve but would hope to employ a range of styles, keeping a balance between the formal and informal. My favourite analogy is that learning a langauge is like building a house - the desire to learn is the foundation, the words are the bricks and the grammar is the cement that holds them all together in the right place! I have a current CRB certificate. |

| Personal Description: I have just graduated from the University of Glasgow. I would like to use the skills I have gained to help others to improve on and enjoy French and Italian. I am very friendly, cheerful and easy to get on with. |
Teaching Experience: I spent 7 months in the South of France with The British Council teaching English to primary school children. This experience enabled me to create and implement new and effective teaching methods. I really enjoyed working with children but I would also love to have the chance to work with students of all ages. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe it is important to have a good tutor-student relationship and I therefore like to create a calm atmosphere where the student feels at ease. I would help the students to come up with a lesson plan which covers the topics they would like to do and which is at the correct level of difficulty. |

| Personal Description: Hi, my name is Naresh and I am currently in the last few months of my clinical training as a Medical Doctor. In addition, I hold two previous degrees: a Masters degree in Public Health (MPH) and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) double major in Biology and Biochemistry. Originally from the island of Trinidad in the Caribbean , I have been schooled both in British and American format educational systems. I find teaching personally rewarding and have been doing so on a part time basis for about ten years. |
Teaching Experience: > Tutored undergraduate level university courses and medical level courses for the Department of Educational Services at St. Georges University. > Tutored undergraduate level courses for the Department of Life Sciences at the University of the West Indies. > Taught "A" level, "O" level and Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) supplementary classes at local educational academy in Trinidad. > Designed and executed training workshops for adults for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), regional office of the World Health Organization (WHO). > Designed and implemented educational science camps for the National Institute for Higher Education, Science and Technology (NIHERST) in Trinidad. |
Tutoring Approach: The object of teaching a person is to enable them to get along without a teacher. Elbert Hubbard (1856-1915) Although flexible, I find it optimally beneficial to utilise an informal learning environment to deliver an individually tailored, mutually agreed upon programme designed to meet the educational goals of the tutee. |

| Personal Description: I am a far-travelled German, who is able to bring together theory and practice. Learning can be just called learning if it has use in our lives and is not just accumulated book knowledge. I am friendly and patient. I can plan projects very detailed and but also execute them under high pressure and with limited facilities. |
Teaching Experience: I have worked and lived with mentally challenged youngsters in Estonia for one year, teaching them the simplest things one could imagine. From this time I have learned that trying different approaches and being patient leads most often to success stories. I recently taught Maths (e.g. as riddles or homework help) and puzzles in a children's home in Kenya. I have hold as well seminars for adults in rural Kenya. I used to teach occasionally German to interested individuals. |
Tutoring Approach: German: I will use the two streams of casual language and of formal language to offer a practice orientated learning. If the pupil / student has no own material (e.g. from school) which should be used to improve grades, I will use the excellent material provided by the German BBC-equivalent Deutsche Welle. Geography / Politics: I am very able to break complex topics down to a very understandable level. I will combine theory with actual examples from the real life. As I am myself a student of Geopolitics and International Relations, I will try to prepare the older student for university entrance. |

| Personal Description: I am an approachable, friendly person, and find that I tend to be able to build a good rapour with children or young adults rapidly. Before, after and even during my time at University I spent a good portion of time travelling and working abroad, pursuing my favourite hobbies (snowboarding and surfing). However, a serious knee has put an end to that for at least the next year, and so I am looking forward to spending this time building on the teaching / tutoring skills I have already developed. |
Teaching Experience: I have a broad base of teaching experiences on which to draw when approaching a students individual needs and abilities. Working as the course convenor for a french company called LEC linguistics, teaching English as a Foreign language to children between the ages of 11 and 17, and at a wide range of levels. I had to come up with original materials which would keep the children both interested/entertained, whilst maintaining a high educational value - i can assure you that teaching French teenagers to speak English during their summer holidays realy tests your motivational skills. I am currently employed as a Support Worker at a college for children with special learning needs and behavioural problems, and though this is not strictly in a teaching capacity, I feel that my experiences here have grown me as a tutor. I also have a background in snowboard intructing, and though the experiences I have had teaching on the slopes are somewhat different to in a classroom, these skills are certainly transferable, and encourage me to bring higher levels of energy to a lesson which I feel helps motivate and stimulate learners. |
Tutoring Approach: After talking to a student / parent or guardian about their specific needs I will adapt my approach accordingly, safe in the knowledge that I have a broad base of skills and experiences to use and adapt in this approach. One thing that I promiss to do will be to keep sessions interesting and engaging, as I really have found both from my experiences as a teacher, and of course as a pupil myslef, that this is key to quick and easy learning. |

| Personal Description: I am a 26 Year old, Student of Msc in Advanced Methods in Computer Science at Queen Mary, University of London.I love my maths and physics and am very good at them. |
Teaching Experience: I currently am teaching maths to a couple of students at KS3 Level and also one student for his GMAT Maths, all of them on one to one basis.Prior to this i have taught at various levels ranging from KS1 to university Level as a personal tutor. |
Tutoring Approach: My Approach to teaching is to keep it simple and fun, I believe every one has a different optimum speed of learning which cannot be catered to in a group environment. I have seen students who have been miserable in class room environment but have excelled when given tutoring suitable to their learning speed or characteristics. My philosophy is always to make the student self sufficient in his learning, because once a student becomes confident enough to learn in this method, learning any new thing becomes second nature to them. |

| Personal Description: I am a very relaxed and committed individual who loves to help others succeed. Diverse and cultured background and the ability to be in-touch with folks from all age groups and walks of life. I have had an excellent academic career thus far which I credit to the ability to be flexible with developing one's understanding of things...which is especially important with science subjects ( mathematics is a science folks!) |
Teaching Experience: I have tutored at both advanced and ordinary level before in tutoring academies and privately. My proven subject areas are Chemistry ( up to university level), Physics ( up to A'Level) Biology and Mathematics ( up to ordinary level/GCSE). I vividly recall last September while attending a World music Festival in Knockengorroch (Scotland) giving a biology lesson to a A'Level student who out of the blue asked if I knew any biology ( she claimed I looked like someone who knew a lot) ! |
Tutoring Approach: For me the first stage is to chat with the student and understand the weak points ( in their view) and test the fundamental knowledge of the subject area if they are not so new to it. Secondly the parents' needs towards the student( if parents are involved) are heard and we agree on how to proceed. Every student is different and requires a different approach or explanation. Where exams are upcoming working with past papers while reinforcing the fundamental material is the best choice. |

| Personal Description: My name is Ewan, I'm 26 years old and from Glasgow. After completing my BA (Hons) in Glasgow, I moved to Manchester to do a Master's in History and have decided to stay to do my teacher training (PGCE), allowing me to teach History in high schools. I am a very patient and personable person, and really enjoying working on a one-to-one basis with students. I have a wide range of interests which I like to bring into teaching where appropriate; using films, music and pictures can make learning a bit more interesting and appeal to many students own personal learning style. |
Teaching Experience: I currently teach History from Year 7 to Year 13 (KS3, 4 and 5) at a High School in West Berkshire where I hold a promoted post. Before this, I taught at a school in Manchester where I completed my teacher training. I have tutored throughout my teaching career which is an aspect of my job that I really enjoy. My last tutee was an A-Level student who received AAB in his A2 papers which helped earn him his place at university. I think it is important to focus on developing the skills to pass the exam or earn a high mark on essays, however it's the tutee that's the boss! |
Tutoring Approach: Very happy to gear my approach around individual needs. I am happy to come to students homes, for students to come to me, or meet in another location. I am happy to answer emails, texts or chat on the phone or arrange some online time between sessions to maintain a bit of inspiration and make sure students are on the right track. I like to use some multi-media (film, music and pictures) to make learning fun and help with source work. I am also keen to make sure students are fully prepared for exams, and have spent some time looking at how to approach question in these stressful situations. |
