Hello, My name is Claire Woodhead. I'm currently in my third year at John Moores University in Liverpool studying to become a Primary School teacher. For the past three months I have been working in Austria as an Au pair living with a family of four children. This gave me the opportunity to greatly improve my German and also work closely with children.

Teaching Experience:
Studying on a teaching degree, I have so far completed two teaching placements. This I feel counts towards my formal teaching experience. My informal teaching experiences also include my work with a local cub scout group and also teaching the children in my Au pair job simple English.

Tutoring Approach:
I have a relaxed approach to learning. I feel that the child needs to feel secure and safe in the place they are learning. They also have to want to learn, therefore especially with younger children, tutoring would encompass games and activities that involved kinesthetic processes as well as visual and auditory learning. An example of this would be to act out a paragraph from a text using props and expression, allowing the child to become involved in the text aiding their understanding.

Teaching german to a higher level, I would still encompass the kineasthetic learning approach using language cue cards and role play to aid grammar understanding. The use of music can also aid learning in this situation, reading and learning from text and paragraphs in german that are of relevance to the student can also greatly aid development and support the work the child does at school.

I am a teacher by nature. I care deeply about the French language and helping people who struggle with the language to know that it can be easy. I put in 100% effort and if I can exceed 100% then that's great but if I cannot I know when it's time to move on. I have high expectations from people and from myself.

Teaching Experience:
During my four months living and working in France, I helped many of my French colleagues with their French. Furthermore during my first year in college, I gave lessons to a Leaving Certificate honours student again in French and he did quite well.

Tutoring Approach:
I am compassionate and allow people their time to figure it out for themselves. However, nothing is more important than hard work and I believe if you are in a classroom you are there to learn. With regard to the French language, one must work on pronunciation and getting the basics right before you proceed to the next level. I am fair but strict when I have to. There is nothing worse than non-participation and everyone regardless of level should get involved. This is applied to all type classes.

About Poppy:
I am a part time Student at Oxford University, studying for a BA (Hons) in Archaeology and Anthropology. I have a a love of learning and have excelled in many subjects throughout my education.

Teaching Experience:
I have experience of tutoring Maths, English,, French, Latin, History and Science up to GCSE Level, with excellent results. I also have experience with English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal resaoning for 11+ and 13+ Common Entrance Exams.

Tutoring Approach:
I aim to ensure my students are familiar with the syllabus for their topic and fell well-equipped for any exam they entre. I also like to inspire some passion and interest for the subject I am teaching - while passing exams is important, it is not the only purpose of education.
