A little bit about me: I have my own tutoring business which I am currently running during my maternity leave. I am a University of Surrey MSci Biochemistry (Master of Science) graduate. Have completed half of my PGCE in secondary science teaching and currently on maternity leave. I have 10 years experience in teaching having taught over 100 students in the last 4 years. I am young and energetic whilst being knowledgable in most curriculums from pre-school all the way up to A- level.

Teaching Experience:
As a secondary school science teacher with over 10 years of tutoring experience and my own tutoring business, I tailor my lessons to everyone of students specifically. I approach teaching with a relaxed attitude where the student can really make the most out of every session without feeling bored or uncomfortable. I keep the sessions as interactive as possible and my teaching styles can be changed to suit every learning style!

I tailor every single lesson to every single individual I teach. My forte is teaching students without stressing, boring or tiring them. Most of my students repeat the comment "I can`t believe it is the end of the session, it went by so quickly!"; which is due to the fact that I make my lessons as engaging and fun as possible whilst not compromising on time or amount of content. Not many tutors are able to build a good relationship with their students by showing them they care about the individual rather than just each session. This approach is strongly recommended as it gives the student a total of five months to do intense exam practice. I am familiar with both the AQA and OCR exam boards and have taken part in a AQA Continuing Professional Development course for A-level Biology. He keeps track of which questions you get wrong and then recaps them at the beginning of the next lesson until you get full marks on it, which I found really helpful. I studied Fine Art at Canterbury College of Art in the 1980's. As an artist I work figuratively. Through drawing in either pencil, charcoal, ink or pen I take my work forward into 3D materials and use photography as a major influence to inform my structures. Lesson will consist of prepared notes which will be discussed during the tutoring sessions. There will be supported by use of worksheets and then exam style questions. Each lesson will be based on specific areas of the syllabus that is intended to support the work that is being undertaken in the classroom. This will follow the part of the syllabus being taught in the classroom, to support and re-inforce student learning.

Teaching Experience:
My well-rounded experience enables me to teach towards the interest of students and the particular courses they are studying for. I have a wealth of experience working with young people through private instrumental teaching, work experience in schools, and community music projects. From this, I have developed a tried and tested method of teaching that is tailored around the student's needs and learning styles. I have been teaching online for multiple years now and understand how to engage children and young people in music through this medium. I am highly experienced in Music Theory, having taken grade 1-7 myself before completing an academic degree in the subject which has furthered my knowledge to a professional level.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe that to be a good tutor, lessons should be built around the student's needs and learning styles. When I teach, I create lesson plans that have clear aims, but are also flexible to the student. I create extra activities as I teach to help the student understand difficult concepts deeper, or relate concepts to other topics that are more familiar to them. The main aim in my teaching is to always have fun, and provide a space where students can foster a passion for the subject!

Once those are ascertained, I will make use of available teaching materials (such as videos, educational books) to teach the student, and even make use of drawings to illustrate my points.

I am a semi-retired English lady. I do online tutoring in English and French. sometimes I also give private lessons in person depending on the circumstances.

I am in the process of updating my DBS certificate which I will submit to UK tutors

I have 2 years experience as a part-time BA TEFL teacher, from April 2020 until 5th February 2022 when my contract came to an end, as an online teacher with Education First,, teaching English to Chinese children (5 to 14 yrs. old).

I have 2 years experience as a part-time BA TEFL online English teacher from April 2020 until 5th February 2022 when my contract with Education First came to an end. I was teaching English online to Chinese children aged from 5 to 14 years. This experience was very enjoyable so I am now seeking a similar work experience with UK tutors.

In addition, from 2010 to 2020, I was self-employed and I was tutoriing private pupils in person from my home or theirs. The subjects I taught were English French and music.

Tutoring Approach:
I put an emphasis on a deep understanding of each concept, theory, method, and observation, as well as acquiring and mastering technical skills.I am thorough in teaching, and besides explaining everything clearly I also provide and walk with the student through the necessary material - usually in the form of slides, interactive questions and quizzes, simulations, notes, problems and past papers / exam practice papers - for a solid understanding through assimilation of the ideas as well as practice. Problem-solving methods are discussed and explained, not only as to how a problem is solved, but also why it's solved that way: this helps the student understand the maths and science behind the problem better, as well as develop their critical and analytical abilities that will help them tackle any other problem in maths and science as well as in life in general.

I encourage questioning, not hesitating to raise unclear points, individuality in thinking and working, having an inquisitive and creative mind, and being good friends and generosity with working time. My particular planning and delivery of the tutorials depend on the individual student's current motivation, needs, and knowledge, as well as the particular content of the topic that is taught. I also often discuss with the student ways to learn as well as study. True learning and understanding has a multifaceted nature.

I am a MA Education Graduate (University of Derby) and I am applying for this position to help me support myself and to enable me to gain further experience and insight into the world of private tuition and to progress further professionally. I have completed a vast amount of work experience in the past and worked with a variety of different types of people and I feel that having had this exposure, I can relate well to people at all levels, and that I have good communication skills and a constructive approach to learning and improving my abilities. I consider myself to be loyal and reliable and believe my enthusiasm to work will make me a valuable asset to the work place.
