I am a very enthusiastic and well experienced tutor of French and Spanish, and English. I also teach GCSE Biology. My tutees tell me that I am fun and friendly and have a unique approach to teaching. I have two children and teach in a local private school so I am up to date with current practice and understand the needs of young learners. Apart from teaching I also play and teach the cello and love to get involved in music making whenever I can.

Teaching Experience:

My aim is to help each student reach their potential through individually tailored lessons designed to make learning enjoyable. I have a strong belief that for people of all ages, learning can be fun, and if you relish the process, you are much more likely to learn something!

Every lesson includes the use of several workbooks, learning diagrams, reading books, learning games and rewards (for younger students) ranging from stickers to special prizes for the hardest workers!

I also believe that a hugely understated part of any teachers role is to give a student confidence, as when belief is established, the student's results tend to rapidly improve as well. Ellen was described as just below the expected level for English. We also felt her spelling was often poor and she struggled with extended writing. The main thing we have noticed is Ellen's confidence, attitude to learning and overall happiness: the improvement is immense. Jack (16)
GCSE's

Jack's mock results were an E in English Language as well as a D in literature and he wanted to do Economics A level which required a B grade in his final GCSE. Jack had two hours of tuition per week from January to May. He enjoyed going (this surprised me as he hated English before the sessions) and had a new found likeness for literacy. He received a B in both language and literature and can now do A level economics. Jack related very well to David- this made learning easier for Jack and he obtained the grades he needed. His teachers at school noticed a marked improvement in his work when he was having tuition.

Year 2

Oliver was falling behind in Math's and English. I am very happy to say that his confidence and his ability to retain what David teaches him has improved greatly. His teachers at school have also commented on his marked improvement and he now feels a sense of achievement in everything he does- he also speaks of making David proud. David was/is exactly what I was looking for. Oliver doesn't seem to think about his lesson as lesson, he genuinely enjoys spending Saturday mornings at David's as he now really wants to improve himself! Wow!!!

I am an exam-focused Modern Studies, History and Politics tutor. I currently offer online tuition. My original degree was in Economics & Politics and I have always loved History.

The Scottish Higher exams in these subjects are skills based, so I aim to prepare students to allow them to fulfil their potential in the exams.

Teaching Experience:
I have recently provided tutoring for the Scottish Higher exams in Modern Studies, History and Politics.

So far, all of the students I have tutored have improved on their mock exam results and over 95% have achieved A grades at Higher in History and Modern Studies.

Early in my career, I trained and worked for 3 years as a Teacher of English as a Foreign language, both abroad and in the UK.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe exam technique is vital in the subjects I tutor and can make a real difference to grades achieved. I studied Economics at Cambridge University and then went on to play rugby to an International level and also coach at the same level. I am now married with 2 children and love helping people achieve their potential.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught A-Level Economics for the last 2 years at a non-selective private school. Last year, 1/4 of my students achieved 100 UMS at A2 and 1/3 achieved an A*. One student had achieved a D at AS and finished with an A* with a UMS average of 95. Prior to this, I played and coached sport at an International Level so have a real understanding of learning and how to help people improve, often starting with behavioural change and combining this with activities to maximise the students' learning. I also tutored several students last year including a mature student, all achieved the grades they required.

Tutoring Approach:
I use nudges to change behaviours in my students on an individual basis. We need to get to the stage where the student is comfortable teaching the subject matter to me and the whole course is connected rather than studied in isolation. I have been a loyal student to BCU, where I obtained, both my Fine Art degree and my MA in Art and Education Practice. Planning for my PhD research study too. This post will help me through my research and will give me a good access to both teaching and research. I have been looking for this opportunity to teach alongside my PhD study.
I became a practicing artist and researcher in the subject of Britishness and modern values since 2003. Working from my studio as well as researching . I am interested in culture diversity and community. I am quite focused on research and combining my work with strong evidence. I also have been teaching Arabic and have strong knowledge of the Middle East culture and I can give support to students coming from the Middle East, including helping them to gain confidence and engage with other fellow students. I also have great experience with special needs, being a mother of an autistic boy.
I have been developing my research skills for 13 years. I am quite an independent researcher and always looking for new methods to reach the maximum point I get to with my research. Luke has a BA (hons) in Biblical Studies and Theology and has been reading and studying the works of the Early Church Fathers for over five years, and has recently published a book detailing the early church, "40 Days with the Father" (available on Amazon).
