| About Jasdeep: Having completed A-Levels in Mathematics, Economics and History, I went on to study Law at the London School of Economics in which I obtained a 2.1. I am currently taking a gap year and intend to complete my LPC next year. As a Law graduate, I took Economics as an outside module and secured a 1st in the examination. This has equipped me with the ability to teach Economics at A-Level standard. Moreover, sitting numerical examinations for a variety of different City firms has ensured that my mathematical skills are maintained at a high standard. |
Teaching Experience: I have 3 years experience in teaching children with learning disabilities; this initiated through the community service element of my Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award. Moreover, I have tutored children for GCSE English throughout my A-Level period as well as volunteering as an English Teacher in India for 2 weeks. Qualifications: 10 GCSEs (4 x A*, 5 x A, 1 x B) A-Levels- 3 x A (Mathematics, Economics, History) Undergraduate- 2.1 in Law, London School of Economics |
Tutoring Approach: I adopt a proactive approach to learning. Through my relevant work experiences, I found that every student has a particular teaching style to which they are best suited. I will accommodate to each student's preference and tailor my teaching style to suit the individual. Past experience indicates that students excel when they develop a passion for the subject; hence I try to make learning interesting by incorporating real work analogies. I impose a relatively demanding regime of directed independent learning in order to encourage confidence in one's own abilities and push each student to their boundaries. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / From their home / Online
| About Michael: I have been a lecturer/tutor for the past 15 years at both university and A Levels. During this time I have also been an A Level examiner, a researcher for the Home Office on the use of strategic intelligence by UK law enforcement agencies, and a consultant lecturer on police cooperation at a European level. I have also had one book published on Europol, which is a European intelligence agency, as well as other academic articles. I have a keen interest in writing, and look forward to the opportunity to do more academic research and writing in the future. |
Teaching Experience: University of Surrey: Lecturer and tutor in European Politics and Sociology. University of Kent: Visiting lecturer on Transnational Policing in Europe. Open University: Tutor for course titled Understanding the Social Sciences. Nelson Thornes Ltd: The delivery of tutorials via video-conferencing to A Level students across the country on Government and Politics, Sociology and Law. Bramshill Police Staff College: Consultant Lecturer on police cooperation in Europe. Private tutor: Government and Politics and History |
Tutoring Approach: One of my main aims in tutoring is to stimulate an interest in learning, by making the topic as relevant in contemporary terms as possible. Most of the subjects I tutor, from Politics to Religious Studies have current and on-going social repercussions. I have found that making an other wise dry topic of relevance to a student awakens an interest and desire to learn more. It is those Eureka moments when students become aware of the linkages between what they have read, and what is going on around them that makes tutoring particularly rewarding. This coupled with a growing ability to think critically, usually translates into enhanced exam grades. |

| About Louise: I am 30 years old and work as a freelance theatre director and solicitor. I worked in the busy commercial litigation department of a city law firm for 6 years from 2001 to 2007 and last year retrained as a theatre director at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. I am keen to continue my interest in law and English Literature alongside my freelance work in the theatre. |
Teaching Experience: I am new to tutoring, having previously worked as a lawyer and then retrained as a theatre director. I am looking forward to continuing my interest in the law by tutoring alongside my freelance theatre work, which also builds on the English Degree I took when I first began directing plays in the theatre at university. |
Tutoring Approach: I understand that sometimes school and university classes need supplementing with extra coaching, and am happy to provide help either by email on in person, on specific areas of difficulty or with more general skills. Having trained as a lawyer just 5 years ago and recently having taken Bristol Old Vic's course in theatre directing last year, I have recent experience of being tutored myself and will do my best to make learning as interesting and collaborative as possible. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you
| About Zena: I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA (Hons) in Natural Sciences in 2005 (2.1). I have completed the Graduate Diploma in Law (2007) and the Legal Practice Course (2008) from the College of Law, both with Distinction. |
Teaching Experience: During my gap year, after graduation, I tutored students one-to-one in 'A' Level Physics and Chemistry. Both my students received 'A' grades. More recently, I tutored a student AS Chemistry for her recent exams. |
Tutoring Approach: I firstly ensure my students understand the basics, and wherever possible try to develop their interest in the subject by taking them beyond the syllabus. I believe it is important to understand how concepts tie in with each other, and to see the 'bigger picture', which is invaluable for students taking their subjects onto a higher level. At the same time, it is of course important to understand the importance of achieving high marks in the final exams. So, to this end, I focus heavily on past papers of the relevant exam board, and scrutinise sample mark schemes with the students, so that they can see how the examiners will award them marks. |

| About Fiona Louise: I am a Graduate of Cambridge University and have a lot of experience in essay writing, grammar and exam technique. I love learning and encouraging others to learn. As I am a very patient person I can make learning as stress-free as possible. |
Teaching Experience: I have held both large and small learning conferences on sexual health issues as part of charity work at university. Also, I have taught a series of classroom lessons on similar topics. The feedback from these sessions showed that the pupils had enjoyed their lessons and were in fact requesting for the lessons to be repeated on a yearly basis. My last tutee, after just 3 hours of tutoring, saw her coursework grade raise by 2 grades and her overall exam grade raise by 1 grade. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach is to develop the tutee's confidence in their own ideas through open discourse and debate. As we progress we will look at essay writing skills and how to convey arguments correctly and persuasively. Depending on the progress of the individual tutee, we will create essay plans together, analyze previous essays and eventually I wil expect essays to be handed in for me to mark. |

| About Bilal: A highly motivated professional, as a Lawyer and Lecturer, who has gained excellent qualifications and a high degree of varied work experience in a number of sectors. He combines excellent analytical, communication, presentation, organisation, time, task and resource management and interpersonal skills. He is personable, confident and self-motivated and is able to work effectively with all levels both on own initiative and as part of a result-focused team. |
Teaching Experience: I have given private tuition to law students of all levels from GCSE / A LEVEL / LL.B degree / GDL to LPC. I received prizes for academic achievements and have worked for numerous international law firms including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer a 'magic circle' law firm. I have taught Arabic and Urdu at the University of Leeds, Language Centre as well as private tuition. As for English language and English as foreign language, I have given private tuition to pupils from grammar schools amongst other schools and to adults who want to learn English. As for Islamic Banking, Finance and Insurance, I am in the process of completing a Ph.D in the area and await a post to teach at post graduate level at the Business School of the University of Leeds as well as holding industry-recognised professional qualifications. As for Islamic studies, I have taught a plethora of disciplines from Fiqh (Jurisprudence) and Usool al-Fiqh; Uloom al-Hadith and Uloom al-Quraan; Arabic grammar, morphology, semantics and syntax; Islamic History; Islamic Inheritence law; Islamic Contract law; Islamic Family law; etc... |
Tutoring Approach: My philosophy and attitude to teaching and tutoring is dependant wholly upon the objectives of the tutees viz-a-viz preparation for examinations, coursework or dissertation on the one hand or alternatively a general schematic study so as to acquaint oneself with the suject area. This ethos is coupled with the underlying vision to prepare the prospective students so as to lay the foundation for mastering the given discipline and equally to enjoy and revel in the subject areas as opposed to a mere fleeting study where a cursory consideration is afforded. |

| About Valerie: I am currently a third year law student at Aberdeen University. This is my third year of tutoring, and I have loved every minute of it! I have a real passion for languages, and I speak French fluently, having spent a year in Paris from 2005 to 2006. I am a bit of a self-confessed bookworm, and when I'm not reading cases and statutes, I can generally be found with a good piece of fiction in my hand. I am also involved with debating and amateur dramatics in my free time. |
Teaching Experience: I have been tutoring for three years now, and have built up experience catering for all levels from Standard Grade and Intermediate II to Advanced Higher in a range of subjects. References are available on request. I am familiar with the key texts for Int. II and Higher English in a number of schools in the Aberdeen area. |
Tutoring Approach: I want to share my enthusiasm with my tutees, and encourage them to build up a passion for their subject. With regard to exams, I aim to give tutees an insight into the marking approach of examiners and also to provide the necessary basic structures on which a good examination paper is founded. |

| About Rebecca: I am a law graduate from the university of Hertfordshire. I currently work for a legal agency within the criminal and family sectors appearing at both crown and county court. I am an excellent motivator and wish to help others to achieve their full potential- whether it be progressively throughout the year or just guidance with revision. I am able to help with Assignments and Essays as well as give guidance on examination technique. Help and guidance can be given towards legal research. Subjects able to teach: Crime, Contract, Legal method and skills, Tort, European Law, Company Law (2006 Act), Employment Law, Medical law & Negligence, Equity and Trusts Available at short notice. |
Teaching Experience: I have previously privately taught/ guided other student that were on my course in the 1st and 2nd years of their degree as well as A level students in my local area. This has all been done on a private basis. |
Tutoring Approach: I teach in a friendly, effective, and professional way on a one to one basis and in groups,To ensure your success, I provide an initial assessment of your needs and plan a course of study with you. All lessons are prepared and tailored to suit your individual needs, and you can have as many lessons as you wish. I like to keep things simple and easy to understand as the law can be extremely confusing at times. I understand that learning takes time & I think it's important to allow tutees to take their time and to learn through asking questions. One of my motto's being if you do not understand: Ask... Everyone is different; some tutees prefer to learn through reading whilst others like to practice answering exam questions, some of my tutees prefer to draw mind maps to aid their memory. In any case, I am able to adapt confidently to any approach that my tutee(s) prefer(s). I am also willing to mark any exam questions that have been written out by the student to further their development. |
