About Siobhan:
I am aged 24 and currently studying Law at university so have flexible free time to tutor- I am not only restricted to evenings. I am willing to tutor all levels as per my ability- I can advise upon particular requests. I am patient and understanding and aware that people have different learning techniques. I am willing to accommodate any methods within reason that facilitate learning for the individual. I am also a mother and I feel that this adds extra skills to my approach. I understand the anxiety parents have with regards to how their child is performing within the education system. I believe that the same techniques are not appropriate for all tutees and am able to identify personalised learning programmes and needs. I have a proven high standard academic record and can demonstrate this with my record of achievement portfolio and other proof if requested. I can also provide references from professionals upon request.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored younger pupils whilst at school and sixth form and have also participated in some private tutoring at a learning centre in Birmingham on a couple of occasions through an agency.

Tutoring Approach:

Whatever suits the tutee is basically my approach. For example, some tutees learn best from reading, others writing, some doing and some being lectured. I can identify an approach suitable to the person I am tutoring.
I also have many techniques to aid learning that I used successfully myself throughout my academic career up to now.

About Jo:
I'm an enthusiastic recent Law graduate. I've been in continuous education for nearly 18 years and now I feel it's time to give something back! I've always enjoyed English and am continuing to study it at A-level now through ICS. I love reading all sorts of styles from pre 1900s prose, modern literature, to poetry and drama. I have a passion for the subject and I believe this is a key element required when tutoring a subject.

I studied law at A-level and for my degree and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, with particular expertise on the English legal system and European Union law.

Teaching Experience:

Whilst I have no formal teaching experience, I do have experience tutoring younger relations at KS3, and work experience in a Primary school, and aiding a language student in a Spanish school. I have additional experience working with children on a general basis from helping at a local Rainbows group and looking after small groups of children, as well as larger ones.

I studied Psychology and Education as part of my Psychology A-Level and this gave me some perspective. This will be my first attempt at tutoring on a professional basis but I had a tutor during a couple of my exams and so plan on drawing from their techniques.

Qualifications:
I have 10 GCSE's, all A-C passes, including maths, English language, English literature and Science. I also have 3 A-levels in Law, Psychology and Business Studies. I'm currently undertaking a 4th in English Literature. I've got 2 AS Levels in American History and Philosophy.

Tutoring Approach:

Before tutoring I would like to have an informal meeting with the guardian and the potential student so we can establish suitability, areas of particular interest or difficulty and learning preferences. This gives you the chance to get to know me before committing to my tutoring service.

I believe learning is an entirely personal experience; each person has their own preferences on how they would like to learn and gain a wider understanding through certain methods. My approach is tailored to suit the individual, if there is any aspect that you require me to do differently then let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate you!

About Matthew:
Started out teaching English as a foreign language before taking my PGCE and teaching French and Spanish in a variety of independent schools, where I taught both French and Spanish to GCSE and A Level. After leaving teaching I studied law, beginning with a part time conversion course over 2 years (the Postgraduate Diploma in Law or PgDL) and the Legal Practice Course. I completed my 2 year training contract with a City law firm in 2007 and am now a freelance legal consultant.

Teaching Experience:

7 years as a school teacher, teaching French and Spanish to GCSE and A Level, and 6 years running a Spanish department. I have also taught EFLboth on a group and individual basis, and have taught French, Spanish and law as a private tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

Depends on the level and the requirement of the pupil, as each will have different needs, and no one approach will suit everyone. At GCSE the focus is upon effective communication, and there should be an emphasis on enjoyment. At A Level, more attention needs to be placed on getting things right. The private tutor's role is to complement that of the classroom teacher, and work on those areas in which the pupil needs extra practice.

My approach is therefore entirely flexible

About flavia:
My name is Flavia Day, I currently hold an LLB in law, Ba in English and a diploma in criminology. as well as being on the completion to a PhD in philosophical studies.
I have been awarded 123% in terms of I.Q testing and rank in the top 6%.
I am fluent in Italian and have written articles of various magazines.
I take education very seriously and believe each student to be unique, in need of lessons tailored to their own individual requirement, something not possible in a school class environment.
The term " I can`t" does not apply to any of my students.
I believe each of them capable of brilliancy when things are thaught according to their learning technique. These beliefs have been embedded in me from infancy, my father being a professor of classics in Oxbridge ad former examine rfor teh same establishement inclusive of Trinity college Dublin and La Sapienza.

Teaching Experience:

Since 2005, i have the sole charge of 5 children educated in a home schooled environment.
The areas I undertook to teach them, cover, English, Italian, law, criminology and mathematics.
Each of them in 2008 achieved entrance to different institutions, ranging from Eton, Trinity College Dublin, Yale and Our lady Ascot.
Furthermore, I teach 4 students on a home tutoring basis, including learning difficulties students.
I have helped on a voluntary basis in Kingsbury High School in 2003 to 2005 as a class assistant, flanking teachers in English studies and mathematics.
In terms of entrance exams into both the public and state fields I believe myself to have one further advantage above other tutors, mainly comprising in the close relations I have with senior academics who prescribe exams and mark them, this has enabled me to replicate sets of practice exam papers corresponding closely to the actual papers and marked with the same level of expectation the children will encounter when they sit the exams.

Tutoring Approach:

Each and every student, I believe is unique. In a class environment, it is virtually impossible weather this be public or state school setting, to pay individual, specially tailored attention to one student alone. This is what i make my objective with each student who crosses my path.
I take the time to see what works for that student, to tap into their unique learning pattern and use this to teach them the tools to bring about excellency in every academic path they decide to walk.
Parents and the student are never kept in the dark, there is constant collaboration , feedback as to progress and development and these are carried out with regular short intervals.

About Alex:
I am 37 years old and work as a freelance researcher. I provide online academic support to students writing essay assignments and dissertations. I thus write model essays and dissertations for A Level students, undergraduate students and post graduate students. Most of my writing work is in the area of law, religious studies, politics and english literature.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching in 1990 as a post A level volunteer in Ghana. I did this for a year and did further teaching after graduating from the university as a qualified graduate teacher - 1997 to 1999. During this period I also did some home teaching. I started online tutoring in 2006 and lecturing in 2007. I still do online tutoring and lecturing.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an interactive approach to tutoring. I do not treat students as tabula rasas who need all the input from the tutor. Tutoring must be participatory enough to afford students to show what they know and by so doing build confidence in their intellectual abilities. Using a participatory and interactive approach includes asking students a lot of questions and allowing them to think and respond appropriately before adding to their knowledge when it is required. Giving students exercises also enables students to retain what the learn.

About Judy:
I am a woman in her early 40s with a wide range of life experience and skills, who has been privileged to study in a range of fields, skills, and disciplines thanks to the generous education system in this country. Thus although my key areas of tuition are English as a foreign language, English literature, law, and drama - all subjects I have studied as an adult; I can and do blend in material from other sources. These include history, architecture, archaeology, creative writing, gardens and gardening, art (I love painting and drawing), sewing, woodwork and construction. I studied English at Oxford, got my Cambridge English Language Teaching to Adults here, studied drama here and in London, and read for the Bar in London.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught every age and level, and many nationalities, from small children around 7 years old to senior citizens. I have taught people with various kinds of special needs - dyslexia, those with severe and enduring mental illness, learning difficulties, and others. I have also taught post-doctoral students as well as teenagers, and have run large classes of 30 students as well as one-to-one. However all this has been within the private sector, as I am not qualified to teach in the public sector in the UK. Most of my work has been in and around Oxford, but some has taken place in London.

Tutoring Approach:

Empathy and enthusiasm are the foundations of my teaching. I am not someone who cannot relate to a beginner - in fact the whole process of starting to learn a new skill or discipline fascinates me, and I am very interested in "translating" the early stages into a manageable and accessible process to an absolute beginner. I myself only conquered mathematics in my twenties, with the help of an exceptionally empathetic teacher. I do know what it is like! At the same time I love to share those areas of learning about which I am passionate, either by introducing a beginner to them or by sharing responses with the more advanced student. It goes without saying that I also love to hear about the student's particular interests and passions. The best teacher is the one who is willing to learn from the student.

About Musa:
I like the basic presentation approach. By this I mean making complex ideas look simple and comprehensive enough for the slowest learner to grasp the concept of a particular topic or subject. I believe in thorough dissemination of a topic so that it is understood by all. I believe teaching must be simple and fun and people learning a particular subject must have a craving for learning the subject. therefore presentation of a lecture must be simple and fun and interesting, and this is how i like to teach.

Teaching Experience:

I have had a seven month teaching experience at senior secondary school level. I help prepare students taking there A' level examinations. I have organised private tutoring sessions amongst university students.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe everyone has a capability to grasp a concept or learn an idea. I believe we all have different levels of capabilities, some grasp an idea quickly and easily, others take a bit of time, but whatever the levels of capabilities, we are all capable of learning. My approach to tutoring is based on these beliefs. Therefore I tend to take the time to know my tutees, and their different approaches to what I have to offer. The way they perceive the subject and their interestedness and willingness to learn the subject is also important. Therefore my approach is to make the subject interesting and appreciate that the tutees all have different levels of understanding.

About Zena:
I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA (Hons) in Natural Sciences in 2005 (2.1). I have completed the Graduate Diploma in Law (2007) and the Legal Practice Course (2008) from the College of Law, both with Distinction.

Teaching Experience:

During my gap year, after graduation, I tutored students one-to-one in 'A' Level Physics and Chemistry. Both my students received 'A' grades. More recently, I tutored a student AS Chemistry for her recent exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I firstly ensure my students understand the basics, and wherever possible try to develop their interest in the subject by taking them beyond the syllabus. I believe it is important to understand how concepts tie in with each other, and to see the 'bigger picture', which is invaluable for students taking their subjects onto a higher level. At the same time, it is of course important to understand the importance of achieving high marks in the final exams. So, to this end, I focus heavily on past papers of the relevant exam board, and scrutinise sample mark schemes with the students, so that they can see how the examiners will award them marks.

About Anna:
Good listening and communication skills. Proven record of success. Can provide good references. Easier at present for me to teach at the students house.

Teaching Experience:

Over 7 years experience of secondary teaching with 4 years experience of private tuition.

Tutoring Approach:

Depends on the subject teaching. For example an entirely different approach is required for teaching English as a foreign language and English to a native speaker. For teaching of foreign languages - a wide range of materials are used providing opportunity to develop reading, written, speaking and listening skills.
For GCSE English - a flexible approach can be adopted in order that we focus on a particular area in which the student needs to develop or alternatively give an overview of the different areas to cover.
For A-level law the exam syllabus is closely followed with particular emphasis on relevant cases and application of the law to problem scenarios.

About Catherine:
LLB graduate with experience of psychology at degree level. Experienced in time management and organizational skills and managing projects from conception to completion. I pride myself on excellent communication skills, and competency with a number of computer packages, such as Microsoft Word, and Powerpoint, and use of the Internet. Having completed my PGCE (FE) at Masters level to qualify me for teaching competency, I have also recently completed my ECDL/ ECDL Advanced and would be delighted to also offer online tuition if it would suit the learner's needs.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching Law from AS to A-level in a classroom setting. I am the Head of Department of both Law and Psychology in a highly respected 6th form school. I am privately tutoring students at an access level with great success.

I am teaching GCSE, AS & A-level psychology on 3 different exam boards. I have tutored from GCSE Level right up to undergraduate degree level with enormous success.

Tutoring Approach:

Learner's Needs Come First! Having worked with Fleet Tutors (previously Anysubject) I found myself extremely dedicated to delivering high quality study support, and pride myself on simply spending as much time as necessary on the material - both in terms of preparation and delivery. In the past when a student has been struggling with the scheme of work I draft, I'm more than happy to compromise to better cater to the needs of the learner. I don't count minutes - I'm extremely motivated and task orientated and take pride in my work. I appreciate and accommodate different learners' abilities and styles, and embrace all learning and education in the broadest sense with enthusiasm. I am dedicated, I love what I do, and I want you to enjoy learning!

About Gemma:
I am a 23 year old postgraduate student, currently training to be a solicitor.
I took A Levels in English Literature, Politics, Economics and History, and read English at degree level. I then completed a post graduate CPE Law conversion course last year.

I am very active and enjoy regular exercise, including team sports and skiing. I love to read and visit the theatre when any opportunity to do so arises.

Teaching Experience:

I have a large family, and have had years of experience providing assistance to younger cousins and brothers and sisters, yet am relatively new to professional tutoring.

I have also had work experience placements in schools, providing me with the essential knowledge regarding dealing with children of varying ages.

Tutoring Approach:

As a trainee solicitor, my ability to communicate and to convey information are my key skills. These abilities are vital to ensure that the tutee can gain maximum support from sessions.

Also, as a full time student myself, I am very much in touch with new and varied teaching methods, and have first hand experience of the daunting process of exam preparation and revision. Therefore, I feel I can bring a variation of methods to tutees to ensure that they are as prepared and as relaxed as possible before the crucial exam stages.

About Bilal:
A highly motivated professional, as a Lawyer and Lecturer, who has gained excellent qualifications and a high degree of varied work experience in a number of sectors. He combines excellent analytical, communication, presentation, organisation, time, task and resource management and interpersonal skills. He is personable, confident and self-motivated and is able to work effectively with all levels both on own initiative and as part of a result-focused team.

Teaching Experience:

I have given private tuition to law students of all levels from GCSE / A LEVEL / LL.B degree / GDL to LPC. I received prizes for academic achievements and have worked for numerous international law firms including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer a 'magic circle' law firm.

I have taught Arabic and Urdu at the University of Leeds, Language Centre as well as private tuition.

As for English language and English as foreign language, I have given private tuition to pupils from grammar schools amongst other schools and to adults who want to learn English.

As for Islamic Banking, Finance and Insurance, I am in the process of completing a Ph.D in the area and await a post to teach at post graduate level at the Business School of the University of Leeds as well as holding industry-recognised professional qualifications.

As for Islamic studies, I have taught a plethora of disciplines from Fiqh (Jurisprudence) and Usool al-Fiqh; Uloom al-Hadith and Uloom al-Quraan; Arabic grammar, morphology, semantics and syntax; Islamic History; Islamic Inheritence law; Islamic Contract law; Islamic Family law; etc...

Tutoring Approach:

My philosophy and attitude to teaching and tutoring is dependant wholly upon the objectives of the tutees viz-a-viz preparation for examinations, coursework or dissertation on the one hand or alternatively a general schematic study so as to acquaint oneself with the suject area.

This ethos is coupled with the underlying vision to prepare the prospective students so as to lay the foundation for mastering the given discipline and equally to enjoy and revel in the subject areas as opposed to a mere fleeting study where a cursory consideration is afforded.

About Victoria:
As a mature student I successfully studied toward, and gained a degree in English Law LLB (2:1) in 2005 and continue to take a keen interest in current legal issues. I maintain a good working knowledge of health care, criminal, evidence and procedure and constitutional law through my current positions as a panellist for the General Medical Council, as an Independent Member of the Standards Committee for Eastleigh Borough Council and my potential return as a Magistrate in Southampton.

Teaching Experience:

As a part time law lecturer, I independently delivered high quality course materials and lectures on relevant first year legal subjects including, criminal, legal method, property I and constitutional law. I also have experience as an academic support worker enabling a diverse range of students to overcome the difficulties they experienced while studying at degree level, because of their disability. I facilitated the experience of learning so that the student could produce work that reflected their own ideas, aspirations and capabilities and in turn fulfil their true potential at university level. I drew on my own recent academic experience and awareness of disability issues, offering an insight into the tensions involved in meeting course work deadlines and examination preparation.

Tutoring Approach:

I would prefer to support students who are already studying with an institution, be it the local university or distance learning with the OU for example. My approach is very much student centred and I would expect to discuss with the student some aims and objectives for the period of study. I am flexible and able to offer on line as well as face to face tutoring.
