| About Remus: I'm a professional tutor and philologist with a history of getting results fast through a self-designed language teaching programme that throws away such antiquated ideas as learning by rote and emphasises learning through interaction and activities. |
Teaching Experience: In my four years of teaching at all levels, I've had a 100% rate of success, with beginners getting to an advanced level in a matter of a few months. Previous tutees have gone on to pass exams, home and foreign universities, and to work abroad in a country of their chosen language. |
Tutoring Approach: An individual approach is the cornerstone of my approach to tutoring. I personally tailor my tutelage for each student, taking into account their strengths, weaknesses, interests and aspirations. I dislike the approach of teaching a few phrases by rote - my central aim as a tutor is to teach each tutee how to express themselves. |

I'd really like to spread my knowledge about IT and computing as well as I'd really like to help all those people that are 'really' interested in learning my beautiful language. I know that Italian may be quite difficult sometime, as well as IT and computing in general, but with the right approach and paying attention you will see only how much my language language is lovely and how much computer could change the way in which you go through your daily life. In Italy, when I was just a college student, I used to give my help to my younger colleagues on Italian literature, computing and physics, just because I love the way in which teaching gives you, constantly and every time, the opportunity to learn something of new. Therefore I think that this is not only an oportunity for you to learn, this is for me a good chance to improve my knowledge. But please bear in mind that if you want to learn something, a second language or just to survive to your pc, you must be serious and ready to give some of your time to this purpose. Do not consider tutoring something like a coffee-time. I would be pleased to give you part of my time but you will be able to give me, just for little while, your full attention and full collaboration. I look forward to haring from all interested people. Sincerely, Francesco Perrone CV available on request |

| About Jo: I believe that learning a language can enrich your life and should be done in a fun and interesting way. My parents encouraged me to travel from a young age and I suppose I developed an 'ear' for languages through being made to ask for ice-creams and make friends with local kids! I also learned French and German at school and then went on an intensive course in Florence to learn Italian - then went on to study both German and Italian at the University of Reading. I live in Chelmsford with my husband. |
Teaching Experience: I have experience teaching German and Italian up to A level standard in comprehensive schools and as a private tutor. I have also used German working in the private sector as a media analyst. |
Tutoring Approach: My current job is 'specialist teacher for children with physical and neurological impairments', a job I love but I am missing my languages! Being able to tutor someone else would therefore also be an enjoyable experience for me. I hope that all my experiences in life and as a teacher have made me a patient and empathetic person who can work with a range of different people from any background and of any age. I can be guided by what a client is hoping to achieve but would hope to employ a range of styles, keeping a balance between the formal and informal. My favourite analogy is that learning a langauge is like building a house - the desire to learn is the foundation, the words are the bricks and the grammar is the cement that holds them all together in the right place! I have a current CRB certificate. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / From their home / Online
| About Jo Anne: As an extremely creative person, my interests lie in painting, drawing, photography and languages. I also love to travel and have a wide cultural knowledge having travelled a lot in the countries of which I speak the language. I have a lot of experience in the area of education, having taught adults and children alike. Whether it's helping to pass an A-level or simply for the fun of learning something new, I will be very attentive to the needs of the pupil while making the learning as interactive and as entertaining as possible. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught English as a foreign language at the IES Meridian school of Tourism and Secretarial studies, Barcelona. I have also taken workshops with the LINKS project based at Glasgow's Caledonian University where I encouraged and promoted higher education to high school pupils. I have been a private languages tutor, teaching Business English in a marketing firm, CMT Espaa, Barcelona. I have taught private one to one classes with individuals learning English, Spanish and French in Spain and in Glasgow, all classes to suit their needs: For specific exams or for oral improvement etc. |
Tutoring Approach: Firstly, since the needs for every pupil always vary, I believe in catering for the individual needs of the pupil whether it be simply to improve speaking skills in a language, or grammar or reading or all three or in shading skills, painting techniques or help with an Art portfolio. I am also very happy to negotiate prices and take into account students on a tight budget or single parented families etc. The price will also vary on what the pupil needs. As for my language skills, I can assure you that my speaking skills are to the highest of standards in the levels that I teach. I have lived abroad on many occasions and am fluent in all languages with excellent pronunciation. |

| About Simone: I am reliable, sociable, hard working, enterprising, creative and full of enthusiasm. I have had a wide range of work experiences which has given me many useful transferable skills. My strengths lie in mathematics, statistics, quantitative analytics and computing. I am very organised in my approach to work, and focus well on priority tasks. I also try to be as innovative as possible in order to find the best and most efficient ways to meet targets. As a result of this approach I work well under pressure. In my instructor roles, I have also realised the importance of team work in achieving goals and of patience, support and communication in managing and building working relationships. I am passionate about sport and dance, and have been participating in sports since the age of 6. During this time I have been a semi-professional footballer in Italy. I completed a bachelor's degree in Naval Engineering in 2005 from the University of Trieste, and have completed a Masters in Naval Architecture at the same University in June 2008. |
Teaching Experience: During my studies, I have been working as a Italian, Maths and dance instructor and so have many experiences of inspiring and teaching students. I have worked also as a customer services assistant and secretary in a building firm in Italy. - Winter 2008 Maths tutor - Winter 2007/08 Dance instructor in the "Studio Dance" Salsa Portorico Style, Merengue, Bachata - Summer 2007 Dance instructor (Nottingham) Salsa Portorico Style, Salsa Footwork - Summer 2007 Italian tutor (Nottingham) - 2006 Dance instructor Salsa Cuban Style, Merengue, Bachata - 2006 Maths tutor |
Tutoring Approach: From my experience as a Italian tutor, when somebody learn a new language is like a child, the easy way is the best. Examples with practical lessons are very important for vocabulary skills, interesting subjects for reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, while for the grammar a lot of exercises. From my experience as a Maths tutor I have learnt to stimolate students and help them to belive in theirself. Many of them needed just this. I tried to understand what is important and enjoyable for the student and I made some examples in comparison with the focus of the lesson. Everybody think different so is very important to understand quickly who is the person. I always tried to be funny because Maths usually is boring. From my experience as a dance instructor I have learnt to be professional. I worked with a diverse range of people in terms age gender and race and I have learnt to give constructive criticisms in sensitive situations. |

| About Helen: Experienced trilingual tutor with excellent proficiency (oral/ written) in French and German. I am an experienced tutor in teaching French (up to GCSE, A'Level and beyond). I also teach German up to GCSE level. I can also teach basic Italian. I also teach conversation and practical French for adults looking to use the lanugage for holidays/buying properties in France etc or just for general use Have valid CRB disclosure |
Teaching Experience: I have been teaching for the last 4 years at all levels. I have tutored A Levels students as well as GCSE successfully. I have also taught French to adults at all levels for example who have just wanted to be able to converse comfortably while on holiday, also to those who want to learn from scratch as well as those who are already at a reasonable level and want to improve their oral and writing skills. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach is firstly to assess closely where the gaps in my pupil's knowledge are and then build on closing them. I will work with them sometimes using their own text books but also I provide my own material to make the lessons more interesting. I will use games/quizzes as well as focussing on past papers and oral exams to help them gain confidence in the language. I engage well with my pupils and they always enjoy their lessons with me so that their time with me does not feel like just another extension of school My conversation lessons with adults are always fast-paced and fun and my pupils widen their vocabulary and gain confidence in the language very quickly |

| About Lorna: I am an enthusiastic and confident teacher. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and skills with others, and inspiring them to want to learn. I am able to support students to identify their strengths and weaknesses and to work on these in order to reach their full potential. |
Teaching Experience: I have worked for four years as a class teacher (including one year training through the Graduate Teacher Programme), with most of my experience being in Key Stage 2. I have taught all subjects at primary level, although my subject specialisms are Music and Modern Foreign Languages. I have also worked as a postgraduate teacher for undergraduate students, delivering courses on Italian literature, film and social studies. |
Tutoring Approach: With primary school children, I aim to make learning fun and to help children realise how much they can achieve. I provide tailored lessons to suit individual children's needs and can support children to prepare for KS2 SATs examinations. With older students, I encourage students to identify areas in which they need support and work to develop skills according to individual needs. When teaching languages, I include aspects of reading, writing, speaking and listening in all lessons and can provide an extra focus on any of these areas as necessary. |
