Information About Naomi:

Personal Description:

Having graduated with a History degree from the University of Oxford in 2010, I have recently completed the Graduate Diploma in Law at BPP Law School. I have tutored a number of students in a diverse range of subjects, building on previous experience of both tutoring and mentoring at school and university. Between my 12-year old brother and History-teaching mother, children and education are of great importance to me, which is my main inspiration for entering this line of work.

Teaching Experience:

Over the last three years I have tutored several students in subjects including English (KS2), Maths (KS2, KS3 & KS4), History (A-level) and Non-Verbal/Verbal Reasoning (11+). In addition, I have over two years' worth of tutoring and teaching experience from my time at Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham Sixth Form College, where I served as a mentor and classroom assistant on a weekly basis. Working predominantly with pupils studying Maths and Statistics, I was able to cultivate my teaching ability by adapting to the constantly changing demands of the classroom and creating innovative ways to allow students to fully grasp relevant concepts.

Finally, whilst at university I was involved in a considerable amount of Access and Admissions work, advising prospective students on the admissions process. Many of these students came from backgrounds from which going to university, let alone Oxford, was a completely novel concept. This experience has helped me to develop a number of skills that have enhanced my ability to tutor - building a student's confidence, challenging them to achieve more than they thought they were capable of, and empathising with their problems.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor I am patient, versatile, and committed to real results. My approach combines creative content to engage the student, with comprehensive dialogue and assessment to ensure that the student can demonstrate evidence of learning and understanding. I use a range of resources and offer a bespoke service, specifically tailored to the student's needs and abilities.

All students (parents are also welcome to attend) are welcome to a discounted 30-minute introductory session. This will allow the student to tell me their needs and interests, in order to make our future sessions as effective as possible.

A small additional fee for travel expenses is required.
