Personal Description:

I have a PhD in a health related subject, a Master of Research in Clinical Research, a Post Graduate Diploma in Adult Nursing (with registration), a Master of Arts in International Conflict Analysis, and a Bachelor of Art in International Relations. I work in higher education and have an Enhanced Certificate issued by the Disclosure and Barring Service. I can offer a broad range of support including literature reviews, critical analysis, revision techniques, proof reading, writing essays, delivering presentations, and conducting internet research. I offer subject specific tuition in government and politics, history, sociology, international relations, nursing and health sciences, and have practical experience in these fields. In addition, I am a Registered General Nurse (RGN).

Teaching Experience:

I have undertaken teacher training at the University of Southampton and the University of Bedfordshire. I spent a year in Japan teaching English as a foreign language to senior high school students. I have experience of tutoring adults (one to one) and delivering class room based learning, workshops and presentations, writing course materials and running modules.

Tutoring Approach:

In today's world career advancement is increasingly dependent on professional development and lifelong learning but for many people returning to learning after a period away from formal education can be a daunting prospect. I offer an empathetic and empowering approach which is learner focused and driven by how the learner learns. I show students how to take charge of their learning, improve their confidence and negotiate a path that enables them to achieve their goals. This might mean formal tuition in specific subject areas, or more generalised coaching with study skills such as writing essays.
