Personal Description:

I am looking to work as a tutor, following my experience teaching young adults and children. I am an enthusiastic person with excellent communication skills and the patience and flexibility to design and deliver classes effectively. I have a TEFL qualification plus Masters degrees in Philosophy and Film Studies. I have excellent IT skills and have trained colleagues in MS Office package when I worked at Essex University as a Management Information analyst. I have performed stand-up comedy since 2003 and also developed and delivered successful courses in performing and writing comedy to students at Essex University and Colne College.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching English as a Foreign Language from June to end of July 2008 to children between 5 and 17 years old in Cusco Peru. TEFL qualified.

Taught stand-up comedy to young adults at Essex University from October 2003 to July 2005. Taught stand-up comedy to teenagers at Colne Community College from February to end May 2008.

Delivered IT Training to adult members of staff at Essex University from May 2001 to November 2007 (Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer).

Tutoring Approach:

I have a flexible approach, depending on the subject matter and the age and skills of the group/individual being tutored. I favour a direct approach, using practical exercises, homework and games to reinforce learning.
