Information About Christopher:
Personal Description:
My name is Christopher, I am 25 years old and have studied in Liverpool, UK, Provence, France and Cologne, Germany. I am a keen cricket player and enjoy using ICT in my teaching. Throughout my university education I have studied elements of business and law in all 3 languages, alongside literature and civilisation. I am currently looking to start an MA in teaching and learning.
Teaching Experience:
I have been a private tutor for 8 years teaching, English, Maths, ICT and French all at primary level; with French and German both up to A-Level.
I have also completed a PGCE in secondary French and German and taught in two secondary schools on the Wirral, Cheshire.
I have TESOL experience and completed a number of summer schools teaching English to French speakers.
I am currently (since Sept 08) an MFL secondary teacher in a school in Walsall, just outside Birmingham. Within the school I am an ICT specialist, working as Lead VLE Practitioner, implementing the school VLE. I have worked within the pastoral team of Y7 as Deputy Head of Year and now am working as an AST (Advanced Skills Teacher) encompassing work in primary transition and setting up links with local primaries for primary languages. I have also created links with German partner schools and am looking forward to develop these links further.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a laid back, fun approach to tutoring and I firmly believe developing a good rapport with tutees and parents helps identify pupils' needs as well as improving strengths. I like to use ICT to engage and motivate pupils and I inform parents of possible learning strategies to work on in between sessions. A major aspect of my tutoring is improving confidence.
