Paula - Liverpool tutor

Information About Paula:

Personal Description:

I am a college health and social care lecturer with a background in nursing and music. This wide range of skills and experience means that I am able to teach various subjects including personal and professional development; anatomy and physiology; and flute (to an advanced standard), piano and music theory.

I recently completed and passed the Certificate of Education (Post-compulsory) awarded by Liverpool John Moores University; I graduated from Liverpool Hope University with a 2:1 in French and music and am also a qualified nurse (RGN).

Teaching Experience:

I have over 10 years' experience in teaching both children and adults. My teaching experience is wide and varied. Examples include: teaching health care assistants how to use technical equipment; piano, flute and music theory to children aged 5-15; and BTEC levels 1-3 and AS level in health and social care to students aged 16-19. I have experience both in schools and colleges and as a private tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that a relaxed (though firm when required!) approach is needed for maximum learning and I negotiate goals with all learners. The subjects that I teach, eg, music theory and CV writing, can sometimes be rather dull and "dry", so, one of my main aims is to put the fun back into learning. Learning can be challenging and it's good to stretch the individual intellectually but you're also allowed to enjoy yourself during the process!
