Information About Rosemary:
Personal Description:
I am currently studying for a PhD in Geophysics at University College London (UCL). I graduated in 2006 with 1st class honours in Astronomy MSci. from UCL. I have also worked at the European Space Agency. I have always had an interest in teaching and greatly enjoy tutoring and helping students to genuinely understand the subject through classes which are interesting and stimulating with solid examples and explanations.
Teaching Experience:
I have several years of experience tutoring Sciences and Maths at GCSE and A-level, and helping primary school children with reading and have greatly enjoyed it. Students I have tutored previously have been very successful in their exams, for example one student improved his AS-level Physics grade from an E to a C and another achieved over 90% in his Maths (Mechanics) AS-level. I have tutored students in year 8, 9, GCSE and A-level, and tutored an adult, but also would be happy to teach younger students if required.
Tutoring Approach:
I am a friendly, enthusiastic tutor with a genuine interest in the subjects I tutor. I aim to generate enthusiasm in the student by tailoring the material covered and teaching style to their needs. I am happy to teach either students struggling to understand the basics, or students who wish to achieve very high grades in exams for example for entrance to college or university. I teach students at university, A-level, GSCE or younger. I use examples, including emergent scientific discoveries and interesting facts, to make the material more relevant to the student.
