Personal Description:
I have lived in Britain since 1971 having gained formal qualifications from British universities including B.Eng (Honours) Engineering, Postgraduate Certificate in Education from University of Huddersfield with specialism in maths and TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language), Postgraduate certificate in youth & community Studies with sociology and psychology.
Teaching Experience:
I have gained substantial teaching experience with a variety of age groups in school, college, homework clubs, community classes since 1983; with the youngest being 5 years old and the oldest being 74. The latter being taught 2nd year A level maths. I have also taught Quranic Arabic and assisted students doing Hifz.
At college I was 1) responsible for induction 2) initial & ongoing assessment 3) marking coursework upto A level 4) developing individual learning programs & course materials 5) project leader
In community-based homework clubs I have worked with 5-20 year olds providing support with studies and personal development in a wide range of subjects including psychology,science, english, history, geography, IT, media studies, design tech but maths is my main area. I have also done this in school setting where I set up afterschool homework clubs in 1993 working with a range of ability, including those with learning difficulties. I was also responsible for helping to set up and run homework clubs in the community in Pendle in 1993.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to personal tutoring is student-centred and based on around a students individual learning, with expectation to improve the student's organisational skills and grasp of subject knowledge and thereby their success.
