Information About Heather:


Personal Description:

Hi, I'm Heather. Originally from the Westcountry I came to Reading to study Philosophy and German at University, and loved the whole experience and place so much that I'm staying living here. I'm friendly, enjoy helping people, and chatting!



Teaching Experience:

9 months working as an English assistant in Germany
3 weeks gaining experience as a general TA in Berkshire
Experience supporting learning German at GCSE level



Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to let the student tell me where they want to improve, and work with the material they have; but with notice I will happily find and prepare tasks for the student in the desires area. My key interest is keeping the student talking while we are working together - spelling and written grammar are hugely important, but these can be corrected by me at home and discussed the next time; and it helps with confidence to be able to hold a conversation with someone, however short. I do encourage the students to do tasks for me before the next meeting.

Qualifications:

  • GCSE German (A*)
  • A level German (A)
  • Certificate of Assistantship in the Federal Republic Germany
  • Diploma of Higher Education in Philosophy and German
