Personal Description:

I am a really friendly, reliable and easygoing tutor. Languages are both my passion and my talent - and I teach both reluctant, unconvinced learners of foreign languages as well as the determined and motivated linguists amongst us.

My French and German skills are first-rate: whatever the level, from absolute beginners to undergraduate finalists I am happy teaching grammar, conversation, written language, translation and comprehension- either for a curriculum or for pleasure. I can also support those who wish to learn a language for business or professional reasons

Teaching Experience:

Extensive experience teaching to various learners in various settings:
- in German schools: teaching English and French
- adults: teaching conversational French and German; German for business
- GCSE/GCE: tutoring in French, German and English as a foreign language

I'm experienced teaching all levels, including absolute beginners and those wishing to 'refresh'.

Tutoring Approach:

I always emphasise a firm grasp of grammar (specifically verbs) as the essential foundation for learning a language successfully. But there's no need to go overboard - it's all about balance. So whatever text or topic we're looking at, we'll make sure we're comfortable with the building blocks of the language, and then enjoy learning useful and stylish language. Some of this just requires learning - but it really doesn't have to be tedious or burdensome. Just enough depending on what you want to use your language for.

My style is relaxed and informal - I want to enjoy teaching, so it's important that you enjoy learning with me. I'll try to always introduce you to interesting words and phrases and explain Grammar and syntactical structures as plainly as possible.

I'll spend quite a lot of time polishing up your accent, too. You'll enjoy using the language more, and be more confident, if you have a bit of verve and gusto when it comes to pronunciation.

Qualifications:

• First BA Hons in French and German with double distinction in spoken French and German
• TEFL accredited
• British Council language teaching cert
