Information About Beth:
Personal Description:
I am 27 years old and have just moved to York from Australia, with my husband.
I love to read and spend time with my friends and family.
Teaching Experience:
I am a qualified Primary School teacher, and have 9 years experience working with children from 6 weeks old up to 15 years old.
I have a wide variety of teaching methods to help students develop their learning skills and succeed in the classroom.
My expertise in Maths is in teaching strategies for the 4 number operations - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
I have a very strong background in Literacy learning. I have many skills to assist students to improve their reading and comprehension ability, increase their vocabulary and improve their spelling.
Tutoring Approach:
I approach tutoring with a strong focus on identifying the needs of the tutee, and responding to the learning styles that suit them best.
For younger students I prefer to make the learning experiences 'hands-on', and so I bring a number of learning tools to assist them to problem solve.
I also like to leave my students with some visual reminders, and so prepare laminated cards that they can keep, and use to study until my next lesson with them.
