Personal Description:

I am a very well qualified and experienced teacher in a high achieving Roman Catholic Boys Secondary School. I have also been a Deputy Head of Year and have just completed a course of study in counselling as this is an area of interest in terms of enabling pupils to reach their full potential in all aspects of their school life. Over the years I have had excellent records of success at all levels with the students I have taught.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English for 13 years at all levels of secondary education (KS3, GCSE and A Level). I am very experienced in preparing pupils for exams at these levels and have had excellent records of achievement from the students I have taught as a result. The most recent students I have tutored for GCSE all achieved A and A* grade in both English Language and Literature. This has also been the case with A level students over the last few years. Those I tutor usually improve their grades by at least one grade above what they expect.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an open and friendly approach and tailor the work to the needs of each pupil. I aim to make tutoring sessions as enjoyable for the student so that it is not seen as a chore but something that they want to do. I believe that enhancing confidence in their own ability is very important if a student is to do well in the short term, for an exam, or in the long term with literacy skills.

• Advanced Diploma in Counselling - Level 3
