Information About Camilla:
Personal Description:
I am a 26 year old graduate of Bristol University where I obtained a BA (Hons) degree in French (2:1). I am looking to tutor on a part-time basis a couple of evenings per week (6 p.m. onwards) and Saturday day times. I am very friendly, patient and good with children.
Teaching Experience:
I spent a year living in Paris teaching English to French engineering students at a local college. I also completed a TEFL course while at university and have experiencing of coaching junior staff members through my main employment. I am able to tutor French to GCSE standard thanks to my degree in the subject. I am also able to tutor English (including reading and writing skills) and Maths to Year 9 level. My academic history in these subjects is as follows:
French: 2:1 degree from Bristol University, B grade at A level and A* at GCSE
Maths: B grade at A level and A* at GCSE
English Literature: A grade at A level and A* at GCSE
English Language: A* grade at GCSE
I have extensive experience of exams and am continually studying towards professional qualifications as part of my main employment. I am therefore able to help students structure their learning by helping them to create revision timetables and breaking subjects down into smaller, more manageable chunks.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that the best way for people to learn is to relate the subject to something that they are interested in. It is therefore important for me to understand children's hobbies and interests so that these can be used to help build their enthusiasm. I also believe that confidence is one of the greatest barriers to learning and so helping children to develop this is a key part of my approach.
