Personal Description:
Hello,
I am a 25 year old man from Northern Ireland. I studied at The University of Edinburgh and was awarded a First Class in Biological Sciences (Hons) Plant Science in 2006. In the following year I studied for my PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Before moving to Glasgow in September, for to personal reasons, I taught in a Secondary School in South Shields.
I am currently a supply teacher with East Renfrewshire, North Ayrshire, Inverclyde, North Lanarkshire and East Dumbartonshire Councils.
Teaching Experience:
Fresh from University with 1 years Science teaching experience means that I am familiar and well practiced in modern teaching techniques. I have taught Biology to AdvancedHigher level, Chemistry to standard and Intermediate 2 level and physics to GCSE.
I have an extensive bank of teaching resources and textbooks from teaching Chemistry and Physics to intermediate and Standard level and Biology to Higher and Advanced Higher level.
Tutoring Approach:
I encourage 'Independent Learning' with my students and incorporate 'Thinking Skills' and 'Assessment for learning' in all my lessons.
Through personal evaluation of my own teaching I have found that sharing clear lesson objectives with students benefits long term learning and so these too are incorporated into lessons.
