Personal Description:

I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher in my thirties, married with two children. I'm currently studying for an MSc in Psychology, with a view to perhaps becoming an educational psychologist or moving into special needs teaching.

Becoming a private tutor has enabled me to spend more time with my children and also allows me to develop my passion for teaching and learning, which isn't always possible with a class of 30. Teaching one child, or a small group, I can really see significant progress, both in terms of their understanding and their confidence.

I offer maths and English tuition to all primary ages.

Teaching Experience:

I taught for 3 years in a London primary school, covering Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. During this time I taught many children with special needs, behavioural difficulties and who have English as a second language. Since then I have worked as a supply teacher in various schools around Hertfordshire.

I am fully up-to-date with the National Curriculum, current teaching practices and schemes of work used in primary schools.

I also have ESOL qualifications and experience teaching English to foreign-language adults.

Tutoring Approach:

An initial assessment is carried out and I then develop an individual programme to move the child forward.

I have access to a wide range of resources and use a variety of teaching methods to make learning enjoyable, interactive and meaningful.

Parents have often positively commented on my caring and encouraging approach to teaching.

Small group tuition is also available; it can sometimes be beneficial to have a friend to work with.
