Paul - Oxford tutor

Information About Paul:

Personal Description:

I have recently completed a BA(Hons) in History at Oxford University.

I am a friendly and outgoing person who has a keen passion in History, Politics and English. Having just finished my degree and gone into work for the Oxford University Student Union (OUSU), the opportunities for me to further my interests in these subjects has been somewhat limited. I hope that becoming a tutor will offer me the opportunity to carry on with these interests, as well as providing help and support for students who need it.

Teaching Experience:

I have had work experience in a secondary school in Lancashire, which involved both shadowing teachers and leading sections of discussion within classrooms.
I have acted as a mentor to students in years below me at school, as well as having years experience as a secondary instructor at a local Ju Jitsu club.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that sessions should be informal yet structured. I want make sure that students feel comfortable coming to tutorial sessions, without seeing them as a burden or yet another work load that they have to complete.
I will be aiming to complement work done within classrooms as well as concentrating on areas that students feel weaker on. I hope that through one-on-one sessions, I can offer assistance that cannot be provided with a school or 6th form, and that I can help students to develop the necessary skill sets and confidence to thrive in the classroom.
