Personal Description:

I recently graduated from Oxford University with a first class degree in French and Philosophy. I am currently studying for a Masters at UCL. I am keen to share my enthusiasm for my subject. I would also be very willing to help students prepare for Oxbridge Interviews in French, Philosophy or indeed any Humanities subject. An experienced teacher and mentor, I am well placed to help both those students who feel they need extra help and those who wish to develop their academic potential beyond the confines of the school curriculum.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English as a foreign language to children of all ages (4-18) in China. I have also tutored students one on one in France. I also have experience as a mentor for a student experiencing difficulties at school, again in France.

Tutoring Approach:

I am keen to develop the students' passion for the subject, using material geared to their interests and abilities. I believe good grammar and vocabulary are important, but that it is first essential to bring a language alive. I like to do considerable work on speaking fluency and building confidence. However, I will of course tailor lessons to the needs of the individual student, and am well aware, for instance, of the rigors of the grammatical tests students face in Oxford entrance exams. With regard to interview preparation, I believe it is most important to work on targeted extra curricular reading and confidence in an interview setting.

• BA (First Class Honours) French and Philosophy, Wadham College, Oxford
• CELTA Teaching English as a Foreign Language Qualification
