Information About Jillian:


Personal Description:

I am a 24 year old International Business and Modern Languages (French and Spanish) graduate from the University of Strathclyde. I have previously spent 1 year in France teaching English to University students and around a year and a half in Spain both working and studying. I am currently studying a PGDE in Modern Languages at the University of Strathclyde to become a French and Spanish secondary school teacher.

I am a friendly, cheerful, open-minded person who loves languages, teaching and meeting new people.



Teaching Experience:

Last year, I spent one year teaching English to university students in France. Here I gave conversation, grammar, phonetics and translation classes. During my year in France I also gave private English classes to a 5-year old child.

In addition to this I have spent the last three summers working as an English teacher for children and teenagers aged 4-17 on a summer camp in Spain.

I have also previously given private tuition to a Standard Grade Spanish student.



Tutoring Approach:

I like to make my classes as enjoyable and as interesting as possible since students learn much better when they are in a relaxed environment. I also ensure that all four language skills are covered: speaking, listening, reading and writing. I do everything I can to ensure that the student learns as much as possible and that they feel comfortable asking for clarification on what they do not understand.
