Information About Jane:

Personal Description:

I am a young bilingual Spanish/English speaker, brought up in Northern Ireland. I love languages and love teaching them, and hope the student can pick up some of my enthusiasm. I hold a 1st class degree in Spanish and English, a Masters in Linguistics, and I''ve recently completed my doctorate in linguistics.

Teaching Experience:

I have a TEFL and have taught English as a second language to chiledren in Nepal (4 months) and to teenagers and adults in Argentina (6 months).
I have worked for the Club Espaol, teaching primary aged children in the after-schools club.
During my years at uni, I have tutored several GCSE, AS and A level pupils in Spanish. All have notice a marked improvement and the majority have achieved A or A* with the lowest (!) graded pupil getting a B.
As well as school-age students, I also teach university level linguistics at Queen's in Belfast.

Tutoring Approach:

I realise how difficult and slow it can be to learn a second language, so I try to make it as simple, understandable and enjoyable as possible. My philosphy is that if you understand HOW it works, you'll remember it.

I like to find out exactly what you need/want to learn and plan the lessons around that. I also like to use real magazine articles, letters, etc that are relevant to you and your interests.
