Information About Rebekah:
Personal Description:
I am born in the UK but have lived in various countries, these include New Zealand, Turkey, England and N.Ireland. I trained as a primary teacher when leaving school and am qualified to teach 5 - 13 year olds in all curriculum areas. I am an outgoing teacher who enjoys working with young people to see them excel and advance in both academic and social fields. I have a Bachelor of Education and a Graduate Diploma in teaching and learning and am well qualified to tutor young people in the primary curriculum and KS3. I am trained to teach English as a second language and have tutored students and adults in the English language. I have qualified teacher status in the N.Ireland. This academic year I am hoping to undertake my masters in Education at Queens university.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching in primary and secondary schools in the UK for the past 6 years, with 2 years experience teaching in an international school in Istanbul, Turkey. I have been a class teacher in various year groups in primary and intermediate level.
I have been an acting deputy head in an inner city London school for a year as well as having various management roles in schools - these have included key stage coordinator, assessment/English/humanities coordinator as well as head of games. I have mentored newly qualified teachers and assessed their teaching so to help them improve in their own professional development.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe I am an able tutor and am able to relate to students well and teach at their level, I am able to assess their skills and knowledge and build on from their previous knowledge. I am patient, understanding and caring with students, being aware of their needs and sometimes frustration. I make learning fun and enjoyable by providing activities and tasks that are stimulating, interesting and based at their level. I am able to reflect on my own teaching and change it so it is appropriate to the student. I am approachable and able to talk to the student at their level, have a good rapport and ensure they are achieving and being successful. I will help the student grow in confidence by giving them positive feedback and empower them with the skills needed to excel in school/studies.
