Information About Oliver:
Personal Description:
I'm Oliver, I'm a 26 year old from Sheffield with English as my first language. I have just completed a degree in education studies and history at the University of Derby and have experience in cultural and religous history as well as the more traditional topics.
My education portion of my degree looked at the psychology of learning and behaviour management, allowing me to understand many learners and the difficulties faced.
I am commited to acquiring additional knowledge through my own development and love languages, currently engaged in learning Japanese with another private tutor in Sheffield whom I can recomend.
Teaching Experience:
Having completed a degree in education studies and history, I have extensive experience teaching from primary, through secondary and even post 16. As well as this I have been involved in private tutoring and youth work throughout my time at university.
Prior to this I was a technical coach for a major internet service provider and built and delivered a variety of bespoke training programmes in IT related fields.
Tutoring Approach:
My main approach will always be to teach an academic skillset to underpin the traditional study of any subject. This allows me to help learners understand how they learn and make them more autonomous, skills often taught at university. These skills are transferrable to other areas of life and will help focus and organise learners.
On top of this, it is my aim to provide guidance from the curricula and provide a widening of this through directing reading and personal development - but every learner is different and as such discussion and ongoing reflective review would dictate the tweaking of any style to match that of the learner.
