Personal Description:

I am currently a final year student at the university of Manchester pursuing a degree in Economics and Finance. Originally from the island of Trinidad, I am friendly and outgoing and most of all I have been told by many of my peers, extremely patient. I am fluent in English and have knowledge of basic Spanish. I have 7 CXC distinctions, 4 A-Levels and my current GPA at uni borders at eighty percent. I was also the recipient of a national scholarship based on my performance at A-levels. Other interests of mine include photography, cooking and playing music. I am a very determined individual and simply try to do my best in whatever I undertake. I have applied this throughout my life and have seen major success.

Teaching Experience:

I have not had any official paid tutoring jobs and this will be my first tutoring work. However I have been leading group studies and revision clinics (voluntary) since studying for GCSEs. Even at uni not much has changed as I am always offering my help to anyone who needs it. Based on these experiences I believe I have developed certain skills and strategies that would help students better understand subject material.

Tutoring Approach:

The key to understanding for me depends on how the information is presented and communicated as a result, my approach to tutoring is quite varied and depends on the individual involved. Generally I would take the material and simply explain it to the individual at a level I think would be appropriate. I would give enough time to ensure proper understanding and answer any questions. If possible I try to find possible applications depending on the area of study. Once this is complete and to ensure one remembers the materials, I would do small quizzes and more importantly I work through past paper questions especially in preparation for an examination. All this is however done in a relaxed,open atmosphere. I think my services will be of most value to individuals in their third or second year of university involved in courses related to economics or finance.
