Personal Description:

I am a qualified teacher and current Head of Sociology in an FE college in Bristol. I am also currently finishing a part-time Masters in Psychology. I have a real passion for teaching the social sciences, a passion that is very much brought to classroom teaching and tutoring sessions on a daily basis.

I am an approachable yet focused and committed individual who truly enjoys sharing in the successes and development of others. I am a patient and caring person, and always seek to understand the learning needs of each individual in order to maximise both enjoyment and achievement.

Personal interests include triathlon and playing bass guitar.

Teaching Experience:

I have seven years of experience in teaching Sociology and Psychology at both A Level and GCSE. My students consistently achieve results above their predicted grades. I also have experience teaching English as a Foreign Language, both in London and abroad, and would welcome the opportunity to expand my experience by working with students with additional educational needs.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is through ensuring a personalisation of the learning experience. Each student's needs and expectations from tutoring will naturally be different, and my job is to help identify, and cater to, those individual needs.

I endeavour to create a safe, supportive, but challenging learning environment, particularly focusing on the development of the learning skills needed to be successful both in life and in an exam environment.

Above all, I try to make tutoring sessions fun and enjoyable, scaffolding concepts and theories around the everyday experiences of young people today, in order to create those connections which guarantee both short- and long-term learning.
