Information About Damon:
Personal Description:
I am enthusiastic and passionate about learning and teaching and get a great deal of joy out of getting the best out of my students. I am thoughtful and creative and feel that humour plays an integral role in the education process and therefore approach tutoring in this manner. I work as an all-round tutor for students studying GCSE and below and then subject specific for higher levels.
Teaching Experience:
I have worked in four educational establishments ranging from secondary schools to FE colleges, teaching a many different subjects, including, Business Studies, Economics, Geography, Maths, ICT, Travel and Tourism, Health and Social Care, Adult Literacy, Adult Numeracy, Critical Thinking and General Studies. These have been taught to a range of ages and abilities from Key Stage 3 to adults and am proud to have achieved of success in all. I have also been both a Subject Leader for various subjects and also a Post-16 Learning Coordinator. In my most recent Ofsted evaluation my teaching was rated as grade 1 or 'outstanding.' I have also achieved this rating from a variety of Local Authority and internal assessments and can provide evidence and also letters of recommendation.
Tutoring Approach:
This is dependant upon the need of the individual tutee. Some people prefer quite a laid back approach where they dictate the pace, others benefit from a more rigorous regime I am adaptable and able to change according to the situation and requirements. For a tutoring to be most effective it is imperative that it is student-led.
