Michael - Acton tutor

Information About Michael:

Personal Description:

I was born in 1951 and have worked in the creative industry for over 30 years. I have extensive knowledge of art photography supply, digital fine art printing and publishing and have worked in most photographic fields including architecture, interiors, travel, fashion, portraiture and still life.

Teaching Experience:

I run regular photographic workshops in the UK, mainland Europe and the United States but have no formal teaching qualifications other than an Dip ad from a three year photography course as a student in the early 1970's.

Tutoring Approach:

There is a good deal of confusion in the relatively recent transition from film to digital photography. For those who seek not to just take a snapshot on auto but wish to understand what constitutes a good photograph, a certain amount of technical information has to be imparted. The camera however is only the tool to capture the image. Seeing clearly, and understanding how to look, observing natural lighting, composition and exposure are the most important elements of any good picture. Thereafter, downloading, editing and simple manipulation are necessary in order to review and enjoy your work. All of this is taught in an engaging and informal manner with the emphasis on immersing oneself in the activity and not just attending a course. The workshops are open to all and professional 35mm SLR digital equipment and laptops are provided. Workshops are run in London, Wiltshire and Majorca.
A minimum of three people are required for any of my workshops although one to one is possible, subject to price.
