Information About Sarah:

Personal Description:

I am currently on the Graduate Teacher Programme, employed as a geography teacher at a high performing state grammar school in Birmingham. I have completed a BSc degree in Geography at The University of Birmingham and also recently completed a Master of Arts degree in a related subject. I am able to tutor at any level including A Level. I have a wide variety of resources and use successful and varied teaching methods to enable pupils to gain top results.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching geography at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level as a trainee teacher on the Graduate Teacher Programme. I have been employed on a full time basis within school since September 2007 and will achieve Qualified Teacher Status within the next few months. Prior to this I worked for four years as a Regeneration Officer, managing large regeneration projects within the Birmingham area. I also have previous experience of tutoring French to primary school pupils.

Tutoring Approach:

I am able to tutor effectively and ensure pupils achieve the grades they need. I am able to explain things clearly, am patient and have a very logical approach. My experience allows me to use a wide variety of real-life examples to illustrate examples and really ensure pupils understand key features and processes. I use a lot of visual aids and multimedia sources such as video/DVD clips, audio clips and educational web sites to really bring topics alive. I am able to tailor my teaching style to the preferred learning style of the individual pupil and am therefore able to achieve great results.

Qualifications:

• Master of Arts degree in Housing (geography related)
• BSc Geography- The University of Birmingham
• A Levels in Geography, Biology, Business Studies and General Studies
• 10 GSE's all A or B grades
