Information About Malcolm:
Personal Description:
I am a native English speaker living in the West Midlands near Birmingham. Before I became a teacher I had a varied career in both retail and as a vehicle technician. I am married with 2 grown children and 1 grandchild.
I came into teaching late in life and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. My varied background means I can help students with technical English as well as academic English.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching for the last 5 years both in the classroom and online. I received and online teaching accreditation 3 years ago from GSU and last year gained the Level 4 subject specialism. I have worked in the community and in formal college environments and experience of preparing students for the citizenship examinations.
I have designed courses for groups of Chinese translaters of technical English for the locomotive industry as well as furniture fabricaters.
Tutoring Approach:
When teaching online many students tend to be autonomous in their approach to study therefore I tend to facilitate rather than teacher. I prefer to assess the individual students requirement and plan a scheme of work to suit the individual by mutual agreement.
