Personal Description:

I am committed to raising achievement and have high expectations. I have worked successfully to address gaps in any aspects of the curriculum I have encountered. I am more than capable of communicating mathematical concepts and skills to pupils. I know and understand the national frameworks, guidance and statutory requirements and I use them to support my planning. I have an excellent understanding of behaviour management, pupils learning as well as SEN issues. I relate my expectations to pupils in a purposeful and positive way. I have always set clear objectives for lessons which pupils generally understand. I match my learning resources and activities carefully to intended outcomes and plan for the varying needs of individuals and groups in my classes, for progression and assessment to support learning. I use a range of teaching strategies which are evaluated for effectiveness and fitness for purpose.

I started my teaching career at The Central High School that is situated in a volatile community in Central Clarendon, Jamaica. The school has approximately two thousand two hundred and fifty students on roll and I was assigned to The Mathematics Programme for Grades seven to nine. My responsibilities saw me deliver Mathematics to more able students for year eight in preparation for the Caribbean Council Examination. The gifted and talented students made up a class set to which I was Form Tutor. I worked in a collegiate way with all grade eight teachers in planning and preparation for this group of students.

Achievements:

 My pupils have achieved 93% pass rate at the equivalent of grades A* - C.
 I have successfully co-founded the Mathematics Club at The Central High School.
 I have managed the school's Boys' Football team for three years
 I have developed and started a Girls' Football programme at The Central High school
