Kate - Manchester tutor

Information About Kate:

Personal Description:

I have recently completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), specialising in Modern Foreign Languages. I am qualified to teach all Primary subjects and areas of the curriculum to children aged 5-11.

I have spent three years teaching English abroad and love travelling and meeting people from different countries. I speak fluent Spanish, having lived in the country for two years and studying at University and have a real passion for the language and culture.

I am very interested in modern European history, which I also studied at the University of Manchester.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English as a foreign language for three years in Spain, Turkey and the UK. I have taught ages 5-adult and have experience preparing students for both Trinity and Cambridge exams.

I have completed four teaching practices as part of my PGCE. I taught maths, science, English, art , history, Spanish and French to children in years 1,3, 5 and 6.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy using the communicative approach to language learning and use role plays to give realistic and useful contexts for students. I appreciate the need to build students' confidence in subjects through obtainable targets and praise. I try to make classes fun and like to include games, especially when teaching children.

I look for ways to engage children and hold their interest in a subject. Teaching needs to be interesting and relevant to their lives. It should also be fun!
