Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate of Corpus Christi College, Oxford where I read English Language and Literature. I was educated at University College School in Hampstead. I am extremely passionate about both English language and literature, and enjoy working with young people. I am friendly, understanding, and very enthusiastic.
Teaching Experience:
I am currently tutoring several English A Level students. I spent six weeks teaching English as a foreign language to teenagers of various levels last summer at an international summer language school. While in my last year at school, I did some work with GCSE students to help improve their essay-writing skills. During my GAP year abroad, I spent two months in a secondary school teaching English as a foreign language. I also have many years of experience as a youth leader, and have worked with young people aged 7-16.
Tutoring Approach:
As a tutor, I feel that you are there to support the student in a way which their school teachers perhaps cannot. The very point of a one-on-one academic relationship is to be able to focus on the individual weaknesses and difficulties of the student and work through them with patience and understanding. I am happy to work through schoolwork with which students require extra help, to help them revise for examinations, or to supplement their general progress with additional material and knowledge.
