Julie - Cardiff tutor

Information About Julie:

Personal Description:

I am french and I study English literature in cardiff (4th year)). I love teaching and hopefully in one or two years, I'll be a teacher in France.

Teaching Experience:

One year experience (2005-2006) of teaching in an american university (William Jewell College, Missouri). I was teaching French to groups of 2O students as well as individual students (tutoring), from beginers to advanced students.(conversation, oral practise, oral games, grammar, exercises, writing, theater, literature, translation, etc.)

Tutoring Approach:

To my mind, a language should be learnt in a fun way, that's why I'm always trying to make the apprenticeship more attractive (especially for beginers and intermediate students). I usually insist on oral practise, most of the time the student is afraid to speak or to make mistakes, especially in class. If the student is afraid, or needs too much time to think of an answer, he will atomatically loose interest in class and will make very few progresses. I consider tutoring as a priviledged moment to help overcome these difficulties. Meanwhile, I do not underestimate written work, which is essential to memorization. I like to give some work between each lesson.

Of course each student is different and has his own needs and I am more than willing to adapt my methods.
