Information About Conor:

Personal Description:

I am a postgraduate research student at the University of Glasgow studying Computer Science, having graduated with a bachelors degree in the same subject in 2010. I have also studied Maths up to second year university level as well as using it on a day to day basis with my research. I currently live in Ayr and am available evenings and weekends to tutor Standard Grade, Higher, or Advanced Higher Maths and Computing students at a very reasonable hourly rate. I can also offer programming lessons for beginners or intermediates wanting to learn more (Java, C, C++, Python, Javascript, HTML5, PHP, SQL, Android).

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored 2nd and 3rd year undergraduate university students on advanced programming courses. On top of this I have wealth of experience from having passed countless exams over the past 8 years, including 5 A grades at Higher Level and excellent grades throughout university.

I also have experience teaching English to secondary school students in a foreign country.

Tutoring Approach:

Effective methods vary depending on the student and the subject, but the key to doing well in any exam is a combination of both understanding the course material and spending lots of time practicing the types of question which are likely to appear. As well making sure the student has a good grasp of important concepts and techniques through teaching and dialogue, I will spend a lot of time working through practice questions and past papers with them.

Programming lessons will be structured around the needs of the individual and work towards giving you the chance to develop some useful and interesting programs relating to an area of your choice.
