Personal Description:
I am a graduate of Sheffield Hallam University and hold a BSc in Applied Science and a PGCE in secondary school science teaching. I have an approachable, friendly teaching style and 14 years of teaching has given me a thorough working knowledge of many of the exam boards and the different learning styles of students.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught science for 14 years in a range of secondary schools, most recently in an outstanding school. I have tutored a variety of students at GCSE Science and A-level Chemistry within the school and have helped these students improve their grades every time. I also carry out exam marking for AS Chemistry which gives a useful insight into the current thinking of exam board requirements at all levels due to the training involved.
Tutoring Approach:
I always start by building an individual profile for students who I work with to allow students to identify their strengths and find which areas of the subject they need to work on to build their confidence. I prefer to break down the less confident areas of their subject and build up a solid foundation of knowledge to help students with their work and prepare for the style of questions which come up in exams.
